Honestly, if you think that the lure means everything to Ash, you're living in a world of..Heck, I don't even know. Why would he show Dawn if it meant 'everything' to him? Honestly, if he truly treasured it, he wouldn't let anyone see. When Ash took the ribbon out, and put it together with May, Dawn was surprised that Ash and May had ribbon halves, as well as how Ash entered the contest. If you have something you treasure, you normally don't show it off.

Well with a girl you're traveling with on a journey, it doesn't look right if you meet up with another girl and share mementos (at least that's what I think). The lure is a different case since they were fishing for a Buizel. Dawn just wondered what kind of lure it was.
