The problem with Ash and Misty is that they are like a Whopper/McNuggets combo, it tastes good but it makes no sense. Ash and Misty can look good, but reality is there is too much clash.

Besides, what you researched is probably in English. Learn Japanese, research in Japanese, and your little story will be very different.

On a topic unrelated to random characters untimely deaths, I was looking through this https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CargoShip and found some pretty funny Pokemon ships

My favourite ones:

Hatshipping: Ash and his hats;
Orbshipping: Ash and his Poke Balls;
Pokedexplzshipping: Ash and his Pokedex;
Recolorshipping: Ash's Hoenn hat and Ash's Sinnoh hat;
Snackshipping: Sub Sandwich and a Rice Ball;
Zukanshipping: The original Pokedex and the Hoenn Pokedex.

But by law, sub sandwiches and rice balls are natural born enemies. They cannot have a ship.
