Should Ash Ketchum & other characters in the Anime, grow older?

Pokemon has, and probably always will gear their target audience towards children. I can't really see this ever happening, nor would it add any value to the story line.

I don't see why the Pokemon Company won't decide to pull the trigger one day... or put together a budget to work on another series like they did for Pokemon Origins (despite that being an extended hype vehicle for Generation VI's launch).

But as always, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And in terms of marketability and filling a niche, the Pokemon anime currently does quite well in its own terms.

Considering the awful ratings, even in Japan (meaning the current state of the show disgusted even the target audience), Pokémon has got right now, they really should include aging. At least then, Ash's journey actually WOULD seem plausible. This isn't the Simpsons where they have a floating timeline and that there is no overarching goal for the series. This is about a journey of one kid to become a Pokémon Master. Even Dead or Alive has recently aged the characters by two years with Dead or Alive 5, and that had similar problems with the characters aging, both due to the various games and the Xtreme series. Not to mention Dragon Ball had no problems aging their characters and that had a similar goal to Pokémon, winning a martial arts tournament. Besides, realistically, there's no way Ash could have done all of this within a year, especially when he's already had a birthday (Pichu Bros. short), at least two on-screen Christmases in the main anime (more if one counts the Pikachu shorts), and even in Best Wishes' finale, it implied at least a year and a week had passed when Iris and Dent left on the Bullet Train to Goldenrod (bear in mind that the last we heard of the train, way back in the Johto Journeys, it explicitly stated that its construction would be completed "a year from next Tuesday.").

EDIT: To Famon, 1. I'm not fond of May's character at all. 2., her Japanese VA is more like Hillary Duff right now so she really isn't going to return to voice acting anytime soon, let alone resume voicework for May (at least Mayumi Iizuka is still looking for voice acting opportunities)., 3. More likely than not, May's already accomplished her goal by this point, so there' probably nothing else she can do (and besides, Kalos doesn't even HAVE Pokémon Contests, so what can she do anyways? I really don't want another Dawn situation in Kalos, especially considering Dawn literally had no business in Unova due to there NOT being any Pokémon contests). The only two likely candidates for a reappearance are Iris and Misty, the former due to status quo, and the latter due to the fact that Misty, unlike the others, was forced to postpone her goal due to her sisters' laziness. And quite frankly, I'd rather Misty actually PURSUE her goal rather than be forced to run a gym where she'd be as badly treated as a punching bag as Team Rocket currently is.

In fact, most decent people don't (and Masamitsu Hidaka made very clear that this was the reason why girl protagonists in Pokémon since AG came around even EXIST). Heck, May doesn't even get any Sunday episodes, while Brock, Dawn, Iris, Dent, Misty, heck, even Tracey got those episodes.

Also, Pokémon doesn't just have lower ratings, it also has some bad sales in terms of merchandising and even its box office ratings were terrible (just look at the Diancie and Hoopa movie, and the latter as Dogasu put it was DESPITE doing everything they could to market the movie. Even Dogasu was cynical about the Pokémon movies continuing after this, and this is the same guy who had confidence that Pokémon would continue despite Yokai Watch quickly usurping it). Also, are you even sure they aren't just, you know, rerunning those shows? Anyways, the point still stands that Pokémon will need to age by this point, since it's making even LESS sense for Ash to be still 10 despite clear references to time passing by, even in BW, which was infamous for explicitly revealing within the show that Ash was still 10 (prior to BW, the only time it's implied that Ash was still 10 was via eye-catcher sequences between breaks).

So Misty doesn't want to be Gymleader and her sister want to be Gymleader so why they trying to keep the gym alive. If it was to honor their parents then Misty's sister would be serious too.

It's clear she and her sisters were not raised in an orphanage, and it's also pretty clear that they had to get the dolls from someone else, the ones raising them, since the flashback made it pretty obvious they were extremely little kids at the time. It's unfeasible for the characters to get them by themselves.

Pokémon the Animation, a novelization of the anime written by the same guy who wrote the first five seasons, made explicit that this was indeed the case. They WERE proven to be irresponsible, though: Need I remind you that they were the same people who used the gym as a glorified theater, often gave away badges without a fight (which was considered a very bad thing for a Gym Leader to do, something even Paul was disgusted with when Volkner did exactly that), didn't even attempt to restock their supply of gym badges in The Blue Badge of Courage, and nearly had it shut down due to having left it unoccupied? Sure, they're not nearly as bad as Flint, Lola, and even Forrest, who probably SHOULD have had Pewter Gym shut down by the PIA due to failing at least three of the three "u"'s (Unsafe and Uncool. The former due to nearly drowning Rock Pokémon in the Gym due to stupidly implementing a swimming pool in the training holes, and the latter due to the horrid decorations Lola put up, twice, the latter via hired help and looked even worse). To be honest, if anyone should have left after Johto for gym-related problems, it should have been Brock, since Pewter's situation was FAR worse than Cerulean Gym, and really shows just how much of a hypocrite Brock is regarding being selfless.

Tell that to the Love Hina anime. It actually got cancelled due to very bad ratings and poor merchandising (heck, it didn't even have box office numbers because it didn't even get a movie unless you count the OVA Love Hina Again).

The only thing I will agree with you on is that Ash definitely needs to age, especially when the anime itself, even in BW, already hinted at time passing by.

Iris is suppose to be aspiring Dragon trainer ! Its in her Game proflie since she is a Dragon Gym-Leader and future champion of Unova .
Also , It might not occur to you that Writer wanted to do something different with Serena rather then making her coordinator like all other girl.
That why they came up with something similar to Contest minus the battling !
Plus , May might be the only main Coordinator since Dawn showing vibe of quitting Contest to pursue Pokemon Style just like Brock did.
So , There still chance that Unova might had Contest but Ash never visited them ! Who know , Lisia might appear in Kalos to promote Contest.

You do know that Takeshi Shodu's novel isn't considered to be Canon ! Most fact in the Novel aren't suitable for Kids.
For example : Ash was born from One-night stand ! Both Ash father & Grandfather were failures who were too embarrass to return home. It goes against Director who claim Ash's Grandfather to be a great Pokemon master.

I watched the episode too and Misty was talking about her sisters are back so she don't has to be a gymleader anymore so she was wondering what she should do !
Also , She was depress about Ash being fine with her leaving ! She cheer up as soon as she realize Ash is just as depress as she is .
As far as I seen , Misty became a Gym-leader because she want too .
Misty's sister aren't that ill-minded that they would leave all the responsibility on her sister head and make her sacrifice her dream just so they can have a happy life.

Yes, we know, because Drew made that explicit in the final episodes of AG. And please don't say it was no longer needed. They mentioned plenty of things despite their not even being needed, like Ash's old friends. And technically, contests weren't even needed in Battle Frontier since it took place in Kanto, when in FRLG, they weren't even contests.

I didn't like that they brought Dawn back due to having absolutely NO business in Unova. However, I really wouldn't say she didn't participate in Hoenn or that she didn't complete it. Need I remind you that her special had her going to Hoenn? Besides, Ash doesn't even show his prior badges to May or Dawn, so are we to assume that he never participated in Kanto, Johto, or even Hoenn just because of that?

First of all, they weren't even an idea for the games, let alone the anime, at the time Ash did those regions, so that's not a good reason. Not to mention that Ash has been portrayed as pretty dense anyways. I might as well remind you that, technically, there were contests in Kanto and Johto during Ash's time there, the Breeder contest Brock participated in, and the Princess Festival Contest Misty participated in (the latter's description even matched that of Pokémon Contests to a T, where it requires not only a beauty pageant, but fighting to determine who is the strongest trainer).

I never said that there would not be any new games, I said that Kalos is going to be the final region of the anime. The games will probably continue, but the anime probably won't (it won't be the first time games outlived extension media even in Japan: Battle Network and Star Force outlived their respective animes, and Mario, Zelda, Sonic, and Mega Man well outlived their TV shows (Mario probably took the longest for its shows to be cancelled altogether).

And considering she herself was a Gym Leader as she explicitly told Ash in Episode 7, it's pretty clear she did have authority at the gym. And let's face it, if she truly liked running the gym, she wouldn't have even left in the first place.

Ah, first of all, yes, they DID threaten her, or have you completely missed A Real Cleffa Hanger as well as The Right Place and the Right Mime (especially the former), where they basically threatened that if Misty doesn't return to the gym, they'll hand out badges whether she wants it or not? Second of all, yes, she was forced to run the gym (her sisters left for a three month cruise, forcing Misty to run it until they get back).

Apparently, you've forgotten that they actually DID run the gym in Misty's absence, and they didn't shut down the gym at all (in fact, the fact that it was a target for PIA inspections suggests it STILL was running). If they really preferred to shut down the gym, why didn't they do it beforehand? If you're going to argue that no one forced Misty to become a Gym Leader (which was patently false), you also have to argue that they could have easily shut down the gym if they wished.

Brock had zero reason to run the gym, especially when he didn't exactly have much good thoughts about his parents for up and out abandoning them, yet he did. And if he could do that, so could Misty and her sisters.

There seem to be some pretty heated debate about this subject, so might as well leave my 2 cents about this:

To Famon:
Misty didn't willingly choosed to be gym leader "making her feel fulfilled" as person. That simply isn't true.
Whole reason why Misty even returned to Cerulean gym at end of Johto was because of sisters incompetence leaving gym in danger of being shut down.

Even when they returned in chronicles they still run away from obligations and gym duties being lazy and inconsiderate. With Misty expressing sadness and disappointment at her older sisters laziness and care free attitude revealing how in reality she isnt satisfied with being just gym leader having higher ambitions and dreams to achieve. Still having passion and desire to become worldwide renowned water trainer achieving her dream of becoming water pokemon master and member of E4.

Reason behind Misty staying wasn't because of changing her goal deciding she wants to be gym leader for rest of her life. But out of necessity knowing she has no choice but to take care of gym in order to prevent it being shut down and demolished,. Until either her sisters become reliable or some other substitute is found leaving Misty without any regrets and concerns to leave.
Proof to Misty staying at gym because of sisters incompetence was provided in several episodes after her departure. Like "A Date with Delcatty!" episode from chronicles.

While dub completely altered dialogue in Japanese version Misty shooked head in disappointment being saddened over Daisy and others carefree attitude complaining how they never help her out not being able to count on them filling in for her when needed. At end of episode when sitting on dive board she questions herself what she should do with current situation feeling saddened and disappointed, saying ill directly cite:
"my sisters are of no use so i will have to stay here and do best for time being".

Followed by Misty return in Hoenn when releasing Toigetic after it evolved. Saying to Ash and Brock how she had lot of fun and would love to stick around, but has to go back and help sisters out.

Or in "Real Cleffa Hanger!" where Misty once again showed frustration and disappointment with her sisters carefree nature.
When Daisy rushed her home when she rather wanted to stay with group for longer and tried to delay her coming back being overjoyed and interested in joining Ash and travel in company again.


You could say how Misty could just send gym to hell and leave, But unlike her older siblings,. Misty isn't irresponsible and selfish rather deciding to postpone and put on hold her own desires and dreams if needed with way she was portrayed. Instead of letting family tradition end up destroyed and lose any reputation it had.

That was wrongly translated. Authentic dialogue and version of Date with Delcatty episode have Misty complaining about her sisters never being at home having to do everything by herself.
Saying how she has no choice but to take care of gym and stay.

Even Misty acknowledge her sister to be nice , They are not as some irresponsible people who drops all responsibility on misty to have their own happy life as you believe them to be.

Misty sisters showed to be lazy and irresponsible aside from evading gym leader duties as well. This can be noticed in downplaying Misty skills calling her ugly runt back in day before she met Ash. Being constantly degraded and neglected by her older sisters imposing image on her of "being smarter, more beautiful and skilled than Misty would ever be".

This was noticeable when Misty recalled through flashbacks how sisters got newest things while left her with ruptured toys and leftovers sitting alone isolated in room. Explaining why its so important for her to win doll set.
When she recalled how they broke her tambourine she tried playing as child.
When she was almost eaten by Gyarados as baby with sisters not doing good job in taking care of her when she was hepless.
Or when Misty wished she could count on Daisy and others understanding her needs and desires complaining how sisters never help her out having to do everything by herself.
With her siblings being sometimes quite shallow and selfish, such as mentioning how going in beauty salon is much more important. With Daisy saying how now that Misty is at gym they are free to do whatever they want.

Thats not to say how sisters dont like Misty. They do with MIsty being aware of that and compared to early days Misty relationship with them improved as evidenced with her bonding with Daisy in chronicles.

But are they selfish and irresponsible not being possible for Misty to rely on them expecting that she does all the work? Answer is pretty much yes.

Takeshi Shudo was just the head writer of Pokemon ! He doesn't own Pokemon world.

May be , It haven't occur to you that the Novel is simply based on Takeshi Shodu own imagination and its not canon to Anime.

Granted not everything could be considered canon. But since Takeshi Shudo was in charge of pokemon anime at that time envisioning how should pokemon world and characters in it look like. Some of his ideas and decisions definitely made their way in anime.

Like mentions of Brock and his siblings being abandoned by parents and left to take care of themselves for example. Kids at age of 10 being in quite a few things treated as adults like being possible for 10 year old to get arrested and put in jail( it happened to Ash). Or being apparently able to get married with Ash being teased how he and other girl looks cute as wedding couple.

Not to mention under mr. Shudo batton pokemon anime was in some aspects more mature containing certain dramatic elements of life in portraying world as dangerous place. Compared to later series, especially in earlier seasons when pokemon staff wanted to treat anime as product aimed for not just kids, but teens and adults as well.

So when taking in account how there were never any mentions of Misty parents. Whenever there were showed flashbacks only Misty and sisters were in there with no traces of parents. Alongside Misty herself saying several times how Ash and Brock don't know how its like to be youngest brother, sister having only siblings on who you cannot rely.
Not gaining any support, love and recognition resulting in lot of pent up frustration and anger against her sisters back in day.

Than its pretty obvious how Misty and sisters just like it was case with Brock were left by their parents to be on their own.

Fact is mr. Shudo who put life in Ash, Misty and Brock . Developed their backgrounds and interest stated how just like with Brock, Misty and her sisters were abandoned by parents left to take care of themselves.

She always comment about her sister being unreliable But she still left them to travel .

She left them because being gym leader was not what she was interested in having different goals and dreams to pursue. Along with being fed up of living in their shadow.

She wasn't thrill about leaving Ash.

Except it wasn't just Ash. Misty was clearly when having to leave upset expressing disinterest in resuming her position as gym leader openly complaining how its not fair that she needs to go back at gym because sisters went on world tour. With Brock commenting to Ash how Misty wants to continue traveling pursuing her own dreams.

Misty could just shut down the gym since nether she or her sister wants to be Gym-leader.

She could, but since gym is also their home, bringing it in risk of ending shut down would mean losing their home as well. Because PIA inspection considered both Pewter and Cerulean to seal and close down.
And if losing license means losing property of object your using, in that case they wouldn't be allowed to use it for any other purpose anymore. Something Misty sisters are enough carefreee and irresponsible to not realize.

Not to mention just because being gym leader isn't her goal she wants to accomplish doesn't mean she still doesn't care about preserving family tradition. Similar how Brock wasn't interested in being gym leader but still wanted that Pewter has gym restoring its reputation.

Speaking of May coming back to pokemon series as main character again in case we get timeskip? While i liked May and everything, if there was any of past main characters who deserves anther chaince becoming main character again in pokemon.
Honestly its definitely Misty feeling she has far more potential and unexplored mysteries in her story to offer more on table than May or any prevous traveling companion could.

Feeling she could deliver better chemistry, humor and emotion in main cast through her return. Especially if she aged exploring Misty on more substantial level and how she would get along with Ash and others after years of long absence.

Yes, actually, there IS confirmation. Masamitsu Hidaka, during his interview with PokeBeach. He explicitly stated that Ash winning the league means the series is over.

Yes, I know it takes a lot of work and money to make a game. However, they would have at least given some announcement for it even IF they ran into problems in development or if they were going to add a new feature. Metal Gear Solid V, for example, was announced by Kojima way back in 2012's PAX convention, and this was DESPITE running into massive development problems from then up to this year, and to some extent back in 2010 after Peace Walker was released.

No, no, no. If she really wished to run the gym, she would not have left the gym in the first place, as I and DBZFan pointed out multiple times now. Heck, she wouldn't have even appeared in the First Episode, we'd have to wait until the seventh episode for Misty to actually appear and meet Ash. Also, she only doesn't let them AFTER GCYL. Before then, she was travelling with Ash, so they had plenty of opportunities to shut down the gym altogether especially when Misty really can't do anything to stop them, yet they didn't. I think Weedle more so wanted to point out similarity between Princess festival tournament and contests, rather than this two competitions being completely same. Because just like contests that tournament did had 2 sections. With first one being focused on showcasing participants beauty and elegance, while second round on their battling skills.

There is no confirmation of this ! Even if Ash win the league , He will be replaced by someone new and he will go to new region with new quest.

To be fair it was stated by pokemon director Masamitsui Hidaka who was on this position until Battle Frontier back in 2008 during interview:

Its the producer , Director and Storyboard together decide how the anime world work in Pokemon !
The novel is purely based on from Takeshi shodu's perceptive so it isn't canon.

Head writer job is to in agreement with gamefreak director(Junichi Masuda), production committee, chief series director(Yuyama Kunihiko) and pokemon anime director(currently for XY series Tetsuo Yajima) establish when and what elements from new games should be promoted.

However as main writer he also has certain amount of liberty in cooperation with other writers to carry out some of his own ideas and ways in which characters and storyline would unfold.

This can be evidenced in Takeshi Shudo blogs when he mentioned how he had choice in whether Misty would stay as main character or not choosing Jessie, James, Meowth instead. Despite removal of Misty causing huge backlash and lot of complaining among western audience.

As head writer he wanted to turn pokemon anime in family show directed toward wider viewer demographic. Something he had success with initially before his superiors decided how series should to become much more focused just on promotion with story and characters falling in second plan.
Causing him to become frustrated and disgusted with direction in which pokemon started to go leaving his position.

Lastly mr. Shudo was responsible for designing Ash, Misty, Brock and TR personalities adding multiple layers , backgrounds and dreams introduced around them.
So some of his visions and ideas in how should pokemon world be constructed definitely made their way into anime.

Misty herself is taller then Ash ! The only reason she's 10 year old because of a dialog.
However , She looks just as old as Korrina !

Considering her sisters didn't knew her battling capability and claim she's not one of Cerulean Waterflower so it made me wonder if she ever fought any gym-battle before Ash.

Misty was already gym leader before meeting Ash not being rookie by any margin. Due to having already 3 pokemon with her.

It was also confirmed several times in pokemon anime when she traveled with Ash how she is one of gym leaders. Such as in episode 7 when battling Ash. In battle for Totodile saying how she has to defend her reputation as gym leader. In talks to Molly in third pokemon movie once again confirming she is one of Cerulean city gym leaders etc.

How many challengers she fought before going on journey is irrelevant and doesn't change what canon established.

She was jealous of her sister going on luxury tour .

That doesn't make much sense. Misty wasn't jealous of her sisters winning prize at all.

Misty wasn't saddened and upset because her sisters went on world tour, but because:
A-:she didn't wanted to leave Ash wishing to continue traveling with him,
B-:because she had no interest in returning back to gym since it wasn't her dream. Saying ill directly cite:"its not fair, why i have to go back working at gym".
Wanting to explore world, new water pokemon, new regions, sharp her skills as trainer and pursue goal of becoming water pokemon master.

Even Brock realized how she wanted to continue traveling with them and mentioned more than once in OS how they know how much she loves water pokemon wanting to reach master level with them going by her dialogue.

They didn't threaten her ! They were just annoyed by the crowed challengers and wanted to get rid of them quickly.

Or they are lazy not being capable of accepting responsibilities. Something Misty expressed frustration and disappointment both in "A Real Cleffa Hanger!" or in chronicles such as "A Date with Delcatty!" episode. Saying how she wish she could rely on her sisters understanding her needs.

Gym beng cluttered with challengers is irrelevant in here. Because even when there would appear just one challenger, Misty sisters would still rather give away badge insted of battling.

We can see that when Ash challenged them or in Hoenn during episode "Judgment Day!" when Ash and co met kid named Jimmy saying he got cacade badge from Daisy for cleaning out pool.

Daisy clearly rushed Misty home revealing how she cannot count on her older sisters at all. Making her annoyed of not being able to leave gym for even short time without sisters rushing her home.

They didn't shut down the Gym because Misty doesn't let them too !
Misty is the only one who wants run a gym even though she can close it down since nobody wants to be Gym-leader.
But , Misty want to run The Gym because she wishes too .

Your oversimplifying things in here. If you read my previous post you would notice how Misty admitted herself through her dialogue and actions how main reason why she stayed at gym is because of her older sisters being unreliable. Not having anyone to rely on and take care of gym tasks or duties.

It was very clearly said by Misty in episodes "A Date with Delcatty" or "Blue Badge of Courage!" with Misty feeling saddened and concerned.
Leaving her without much choice.

If Misty career was all along to be gym leader, why she had goal of becoming water pokemon master? Why she idolize E4 Lorelei wantig to become strong and recognized like her one day?

Most importantly what was point of traveling in first place when she was already gym leader before meeting Ash and if she wanted to run gym, her sisters would step down in heart beat since they never were interested in this occupation to begin with?

But realistically all this issue with gym and uncleared situation was invented by pokemon staff as performance for audience to accept that shes gone creating artificial reason to keep her of the pokemon anime. Due to not having interest to advance character and her story more.

Again , They didn't threaten her ! They just wanted to do the same thing they were doing from the beginning of the show.
If Misty didn't enjoyed running the Gym , She could close it down since nobody forcing her and her sister to run a Gym.

Through Misty actions and disappointment with sisters laziness and irresponsibility Misty made it very clear how being gym leader is not something which she views as calling, but more as job.

That doesn't mean Misty hates gym, afterall why would she? Being her home and liking water pokemon.

However her actions and diaslogue showed this isn't position which fulfills her as person and provide true happiness never giving up on her career of becoming best water trainer in world/water pokemon master.
She decided to force on herself gym leader responsibilities for current time. Feeling its her own moral duty and obligation to help family out and try to find common language with them knowing how in case of leaving it her and sister home alongside family tradition of having gym in Cerulean city would be shut down.

Misty just like Brock did back in day is staying at gym because of not having someone else reliable enough to take care of it putting her own dreams on hold until this issue is resolved being able to travel in case she decides without being concerned of gym being shut down.
Likewise she still showed clear desire to travel again and reach higher positions as trainer.

Similar how Wallace became champion with water pokemon, or her idol Loelei became E4. Same applies to Siebold.

Brock had zero reason to run a Gym BUT HE HAD EVERY REASON TO LOOK AFTER HIS 10 YOUNGER BROTHER AND SISTER WHO DIDN'T HAD ANYONE ELSE TO LOOK AFTER THEM.

Brock stay at gym didn't happened only because of having younger siblings to take care of. But also because he didn't wanted that Pewter lose gym with family tradition being breaked.

And for the record, on a last note, I did date comparisons for the games, and the third versions of each generation post-original series was generally announced no later than when Ash finds the sixth gym. For Emerald, it was announced just four days after Ash arrived at Fortree City (on July 12, 2004 in other words). For Platinum, it was announced on May 15, 2008, just before Ash challenged Crasher Wake (at the time the fourth gym leader of Generation IV), in other words (in fact, it was announced the same day that the episode where May and Dawn fought each other in the Wallace Cup aired). Even with Pokémon Crystal, it most likely was announced between right before Ash challenged Faulkner or shortly after Whitney (there's no specific announcement date covered, but it's definitely got to be between two to five months beforehand). Ash has gotten through the seventh gym leader Olympia, with only Wulfric and Snowbelle City being left before he is eligible for the Kalos League, which is going to be a few weeks, maybe a month and a half tops, and we haven't even got an announcement for Z yet. Probably the closest we've got is Zygarde's Core Form being with the party right now, and that's not really enough. Not to mention CoroCoro has just come out and the only Pokémon-related announcement it's got is that Volcanion will be distributed and be the main star of the upcoming movie. If they were planning to announce Z version while the anime is still on the air, they would have done it by now, especially when it generally takes between two to five months for the third versions to be released once announced (Emerald was announced July 12, 2004, and it was released on September 16 of the same year. Platinum, meanwhile, was announced May 15, 2008, and released on September 13 that same year).

As far as the topic, I've said it once, I'll say it again: They'll need to have Ash age, either that or avoid even mentioning any times. This is effectively a Rocky Balboa series, one where Ash has to continuously get stronger until he succeeds in his goal, so aging is something of a requirement. Dragonball had aging as well. Even Dead or Alive has recently done aging.

You sure about that? Dawn came back to Unova. Last I checked, they didn't have Contests reappearing there. And at this rate, I'm not sure if ANYONE's going to return. If they wanted anyone to return, whether Iris or Misty, heck, even May or Dawn, they would have done it by now.

Yes, I know it takes a lot of work and money to make a game. However, they would have at least given some announcement for it even IF they ran into problems in development or if they were going to add a new feature. Metal Gear Solid V, for example, was announced by Kojima way back in 2012's PAX convention, and this was DESPITE running into massive development problems from then up to this year, and to some extent back in 2010 after Peace Walker was released.

Generation I and II really didn't have all those mysteries. And quite frankly, there really wasn't anything in Generation III and possibly IV that really needed solving. And Generation V didn't even HAVE a third version.

No, no, no. If she really wished to run the gym, she would not have left the gym in the first place, as I and DBZFan pointed out multiple times now. Heck, she wouldn't have even appeared in the First Episode, we'd have to wait until the seventh episode for Misty to actually appear and meet Ash. Also, she only doesn't let them AFTER GCYL. Before then, she was travelling with Ash, so they had plenty of opportunities to shut down the gym altogether especially when Misty really can't do anything to stop them, yet they didn't. It's still clearly open.

You could say the same thing about Brock, especially when we KNOW there are definitely other job opportunities besides the gym in Pewter City (There's the Pokémon Center, for one. And there's also that diner that Ash and Misty were at).

He could have just shut down the gym and found another opportunity for a job for his siblings, like I don't know, a waiter, or a orderly, heck, even an assistant for the rock salesman. It's not like he HAS to run the gym even with his siblings.

Why would he waste his time finding other job when he already got a better job ? Being Gym-leader is probably the best job Brock can have back then.
All he has to do is wait for someone to challenge his gym and Battle ! He doesn't even need to win the battle , he just need to put a good fight and give free advise.

1. Pokémon Breeders have been established to care about a Pokémon's medical needs since the Original Series, so there's nothing new there.

Are you sure it's September? I'm pretty sure the movie's going to be released in late July, meaning at best, they've got until August. As far as DP, is that between his seventh and eighth badge? Didn't stop the Anime from completely skipping over the World Conference despite it playing a fairly major role in Black 2 and White 2, or their delaying in having Team Flare appearing in the main anime until right now. NO!, and it didn't even have Ash challenging the Battle Frontier in Platinum either (not to mention DP outright ignored story developments made by Platinum, even AFTER Platinum was released, as Cyrus STILL went for the Dia and Pal without Gira even playing a role in the event). There have been PLENTY of instances where the Anime outright ignores the games, so don't think that just because there will be a third version, that means the anime will do the third version. And Pokémon Emerald's plot line was largely ignored in AG, with it even finishing up in a similar vein to Pokémon Sapphire.

Which clearly proves that they are planning to release "Pokemon Z" so they are using anime to promote Zygarde's form to hype Buyer about the next game.

Even still, that DOESN'T mean the anime's going to continue on with it.

Actually, according to Dogasu, the recent Hoopa movie made even LESS than Pokémon Heroes, which until now had the lowest box office receipt of ALL the Pokémon movies, yes, that even includes the AG movies:

So here's where this update gets depressing.

The final, final numbers haven't been released yet but Japanese fansite PokePale seems pretty sure that Pokémon the movie XY "The Archdjinn of the Rings, Hoopa" & "Pikachu and the Pokemon Band" ended up making 24,040,078,200 yen over its ten week run. Up until this point the lowest grossing movie in the franchise's history was Latias and Latios, The Guardian Deities of the Water Capital, which ended its run with 49-day run with 26,070,000,000 yen back in 2002 (which translates to about 26,974,258,242.55 in today's yen). The Hoopa movie didn't even top that.

In other words, Pokémon the movie XY "The Archdjinn of the Rings, Hoopa" & "Pikachu and the Pokemon Band" is (pretty much officially) the worst-performing Pocket Monsters movie in the franchise's history.

Also, when discussing the development of the Hoopa movie a while back, back before it was released, Dogasu revealed that Sonoda, the guy who did all the Pokémon Movies since Pokémon 4Ever, was replaced for the film, and even implied that it had to do with the Diancie movie being a flop:

Dogasu @ 15:55 JST -- Something I neglected to cover last month was news about this year's movie.





Right now the movie is only known as "Pokémon the movie XY 2015" and doesn't have any other subtitle or anything else to go by. The Pikachu short doesn't have a title either. The teaser trailer posted on the movie's official website makes it obvious that Hoopa's going to be in it though don't expect it to be officially revealed until mid-February.

What has been announced (or leaked, rather) is a staff list for the movie. Among the usual credits is something rather shocking: Tomioka Atsuhiro (left) will be writing the script for the movie instead of Sonoda Hideki (right).

This is important to note because Mr. Sonoda has been the sole person responsible for writing the movies since 2001's Celebi Encounter Through Time. So why change now? My guess is because last year's The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie didn't do that well at the box office, when all is said and done, and this change in staff is an attempt to shake things up a bit and breathe some new life into the movie franchise. Of course Mr. Yuyama is still directing so there's only so much that Mr. Tomioka will be able to do but we'll hopefully be able to see some signs of his involvement in the movie.

Why do you think they announced Zygarde's forms ? It to hype people about the next game.

Yes, but that DOESN'T mean that the Anime will do it. In fact, it's quite a bit late for them to be focusing on it.

Generation V had a squeal ! There is chance that Generation VI might get a squeal as well .

They'll only pull a B2W2-style sequel if they have three versions of the sequel at the very least to make up for Zygarde's five forms. More likely than not, since it has remakes, it's going to be a third version. And again, there being a third version for the games is no guarantee that the games will do the same.

Honestly , It would be much better to see 12 year old Ash , May and another boy with Blastoise take down Team Rocket permanently.
Since Ash has a Charizard and May has a Venusaur.

I'd personally bank with Ash, Misty, and Brock there. But I do think there needs to be some aging to show he is indeed learning things, make things a bit more probable.

I think the reason why he stays the same age is because it makes him more relate-able to the target fanbase imo.

If that's the case, that clearly didn't work since the ratings are an absolute mess right now, and have been since AG.
