    Yes, Brock is important to Ash. Without Brock, Ash wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Charizard and a Venusaur.

    Seriously speaking now, though Ash has gotten smarter over the years, Brock is still the main brain of the group. He always has the proper advice for healing a Pokemon, or helping it. In my opinion, Brock's tenderness and brains help Ash in a way, preventing him from making any stupid mistakes, and helping him learn how to be a better trainer.

    Plus, though he cares about all his younger brothers and sisters, who wouldn't need a good break from babysitting?

    Hmm... I think Brock's there because Ash needs another guy with him (with the exception of Max)... Also I think he's there because he's the only cook in their team (with the exception of him going away and Tracey replacing him in the Orange Islands part)... And no one would be the funny guy who always courts every beautiful chick he encounters ;)...

    Brock is kind of like the big brother charecter Ash needs to steer him in the right direction. He also cooks and make sure that Ash doesn't fall off of a cliff. I mean Ash maybe smarter as time goes on, but he needs Brocks.

    Ash need Brock they are best friends and if he left ash would get lost and die of starvation

    Explain how and why Ash and Misty survived the orange islands? I mean, being caught unprepared in terms of food and supplies in the middle of an Ocean is just as life-threatening as being caught unprepared in terms of food and supplies in a forest. Ash won't need brock to cook for him (If he was able to make it just fine in the Orange Islands without Brock cooking for him, he can be able to make it just fine without Brock in his journey.) Don't think that I want Brock oust from the series, since I feel he is fine, but the whole "he needs to be near him or else Ash would starve to death" is IMO a poor justification due to the Orange Islands.

    Speaking of Brock, I found it a bit ironic that the writers seemingly "learned their lesson in regards to replacing Brock", and thus had him remain on the main cast for all eternity, and yet they forgot the huge complaints of the Orange Islands (which was one of the reasons as to why Brock even returned for Johto, anyways) when they replaced Misty at the end of Johto. I mean, If I were the writers, then I would think a million times before I would replace Misty due to the complaints in the OI season.

    I mean, if they couldn't even replace a character with Brock's popularity level (whom, before Traceys arrival was considered to be one of the more unpopular characters in the series, according to a Japanese blog.) without getting hate mail and over a million complaints from the fanbase, what makes them think that replacing Misty, who is at LEAST 10x as popular as Brock according to TRAdmin, would be a success? It wouldn't, really, so it's obvious from that that the writers never really learned their lesson in terms of replacing characters.

    (and Believe me when I say this, May had gotten huge complaints from the fanbase, moreso than even Tracey according to Fabuvinny, which is saying quite a lot, so I sincerely doubt that she is popular, and before anyone mentions her reappearance in Battle frontier, they also brought back Max (who is also unpopular, moreso than his sister, and possibly even the least popular now), so it can't be because she was popular since, if it was, they won't allow Max in due to the fact that he has a very small fanbase. No offense to May, Tracey, or Max fans, but I was trying to make a point.)

    Anyways, thats all for now.

    The above user speaks the truth. Brock is probably my favorite character, and as you alluded to, he will probably stay on the series for the remainder of show's duration.

    I just died. Thank you for that laugh. XD

    But yes. I agree with you whole heartedly.
    Plus if Brock wasn't there, they would all starve to death. Or die from not ever getting a break cause Ash doesn't know when to stop.

    No!
    Dear god, no.
    Brock can't leave!

    o___o

    That's like... that's like... Pikachu leaving. ;~;

    If Brock left, the others characters wouldn't have a clue alot of the time. xD;
    Unless he was replaced another character, that was alot like him.. but I hope that doesn't happen.

    He may have been in the show for really freaking long time.. 10 years worth of a long time. However, he still makes me smile.

    Brock is someone Ash needs... That's why some people actually ship them (sorry for being offtopic)... Weird thing to ship two males...
    Without Brock, we wouldn't have him help us determine which Joy or Jenny it is.

    Yeah, I know... lol... :D

    lol...
    if brock is gone then ash will not stop because no one will stop him and say lets take a break and eat....

    Erm... I think they would survive regarding food problems as weedle_mchairybug said... Remember, Brock wasn't there when the Orange Islands saga was up...

    Sorry for the off-topicness but whats so weird about shipping two males? But I bet if there was JennyxJoy shipping you'd be all over that. Typical ******* male response lol. Anyway BACK on topic, Brock has always been an important part of the show, Brock's kinda a man's man, and a woman's man if you know what I mean. I mean the guy cooks! And cooks...Great! Not only that but whenever the team's Pokemon or a wild pokemon is injured he treats them and care. What a guy that Brock is. Besides I always laugh myself silly whenever he gets up in Nurse Joy or Jenny's faces, with the usual, then Crogunk does his job lol. Odd since I throught Dawn would be the one to pull Brock away from his flirting habits, but Crogunk surprized me in the beginning lol. I kinda through Tracey was rather worthless during Orange Islands since he never cooked, or had medicine on hand like brock does. That just proves that brock is really needed, and he guides Ash and Hikari in the right path. They need a older figure in the group to help decide things and Brock's just the one.

    Didn't Misty briefly cook up that Medicene when Ash and Tracey were hit by stun spore? I'm pretty sure that she has SOME culinary talent because, really, if she didn't, the medicene would have killed Ash and Tracey if the Stun Spore didn't already do that. Plus, there was an official anime card whose Artwork depicted Misty cooking up some stew so that proves 2/3rds of the time that she was somewhat skilled in cooking. and May... well, she cooked Pokeblocks. and Dawn was able to cook Poffins. The only character who was revealed to not have ANY culinary talent WHATSOEVER is Ash (Tracey and Max don't count, since we never actually saw them cook anything to judge whether they actually do have the culinary talent or not.).

    Also, maybe it is supposed to be funny, but I'm not sure how trying to get a date from a girl you just met several times with that behavior is funny. I mean, no offense, but that seemed more offensive to me, since it reminds me how a girl's only function is to produce babies, and that they're animals (something that I have HATED since Princess vs. Princess's Fiorello Fangirls squealing until their lungs exploded).

    Without Brock, we wouldn't have him help us determine which Joy or Jenny it is.

    Actually, in the episode where Ash challenged Lt. Surge, He seemed a bit dazed when he saw the Vermillion Center's Nurse Joy, just like Misty and Ash were (since they were most likely wondering "How the heck did she arrive from the Cabin on Route 24?"), which hinted that even HE can't tell the difference between the two (at least initially). And in the episode where Ash caught Squirtle, Brock didn't try to tell them the difference between that Officer Jenny and the others (Instead, Officer Jenny tells them).

    I definitely agree. In the episode, "The Ribbon Cup Caper", a former Team Magma member( I forgot the name ), is pretending to be an Officer Jenny. When Brock found the real one, he was smitten! xD

    So if Brock ever leaves, waaah. Then the animé series would be boring.
