Should marijuana be legalized?

You seem like a liberal who thinks they can make the world perfect by just imposing more laws and making the country conform to what they think is a good life :/

The goverment shouldent tell me how much alchohal i should consume, or how much marijuana. If I die its my fault becuase I was stupid.
 
The question isn't "Should marijuana be legalized?", the question is "Who is the retarded nutjob who came up with that stupid idea?!"

Then again, I'll just happily say the Pledge of Allegiance to 49 stars in a few years. I really don't mind.

You guys know I'm in support, but this is bad logic.

Committing murder is a stupid decision that one makes on their own, law is around to keep order, but in a way to contain stupidity that for some people, always manages to manifest itself in horrible decisions.

So once you take away all the problems that come about from it being illegal in the first place then you don't see a reason that it shouldn't be illegal. I'm not saying it's good, I'm not saying it's not addictive, hell, I ain't even saying that there aren't people who wouldn't try it. Yet I'm not about to make an argument to perpetuate something harmful that spreads disease and causes death simply so I can take other people's freedom to make very poor decisions away.
 
Studies also show that second hand smoke has no effect toward cancer, also Pot is a gate way drug because of the way people describe it. By people i mean parents and the media. parents always make it seem like it will result in a similar scenario like that picture above, and so does the media. so when kids actually try it the think "hey this isn't that bad" then they begin their new life on weed. then slowly enough the begin associating themselves with other potsmokers, and one in 4 weed smokers tend to try things like Ex and inhalants because their dealer or other friend tells em it's fun. and because they have the thought in their heads "pot wasn't as bad as people said it was" they try it. Then begins their new life on harder drugs, these tends to go on until they try harder drugs because of the same formula, or because they get arrested and then anger/( other inmates) causes them to do more/harder drugs. Also the kid who stepped up to ex is still friends with the kid who just smokes weed and he then turns to them with the same effect as the person who started him on the harder drugs, thus causes the vicious cycle to continue.

You're forgetting the part where they hear stories of people messing their lives up on "hard drugs". Such as "____ started doing E and going to raves, no he's a total E-tard and he has no money left for college and no job because he blew off work to go to raves"

or

"_____ started out on weaker opiates, now he's doing heroin. He empty his whole bank account, he's gone to rehab for months, yet he's out and doing it again. He has a good friend, but that friend does heroin with him."

or

"_____ started doing meth, and now he's a total ____head. He just stays up for night talking to himself about shadow people and crazy stuff. His parents kicked him out and he's got nothing in his future."

But not once do you hear:

"____ started doing the weedz, and he ate all of the food in his house. Now his family is going to starve because he spent all the money on weed. And he got fired from his job because he reeked of pot."

My point being that you never really hear stories from a source besides parents or police that say negative things about pot, unless those people are just spouting the same words that the parents or police said. But you hear from all kinds of sources that other drugs can really mess up your life.
 
I don't even smoke weed so I'm totally apathetic to the debate. I do have to recognize that it is more harmless than tobacco and alcohol and the only reason it's considered a gateway drug is the number of dishonest dealers lacing their supply with significantly more addictive and dangerous stuff like cocaine and crystal meth to keep customers coming back. Government legalization will of course be accompanied by quality assurance and safety standards. The marijuana one would buy from a drug store will likely not have hard drugs in it. :/

There's also the effect of pretty much destroying any real power the violent drug cartels south of the border have. With legal access to their product, no one would be feeding their money to them anymore.

Just to add on. My brother is a pothead, but he's very responsible about it. He only buys from reputable dealers and refuses to negotiate with the shadier dealers...just saying. It's fully possible for people to smoke weed and not fall into the media's stereotype of stoners.
 
No. Marijuana shouldn't be legalized because of the dire consequences it can have on one's health (particularly cancer).
 
Weed doesn't lead to cancer, that's a myth.

It is a gateway drug because of the reasons stated above, also laces would cost more time, effort, and money then most drug dealers would care to spend, they would be losing money. People have to spend more on laced weed. Also drug cartels make the majority of their money on drugs like heroin.

Overall Weed by itself, when used in moderation, isn't that bad, but because of reasons stated above it is overall a bad thing and would be better left untouched, and for sure better left illegal.
 
I say dont make it legal. It basically shows kid's that it isn't all that bad if it was legalized. More and more people will start doing drugs. That isn't what we want is it? Then i believe we should try and put a stop to the drugs!~

hmm I never thought of it that way to be honest. And i never said they were dumb. Just saying they should make their own decisions. I should now start thinking about how the youth would be affected. thank you for opening my eyes to what should now be the main subject. This totally changes my opinions.

We are setting a bad influence for the young. By them knowing about the legalization of marijuana, kids will start thinking it isn't so bad after all if it was legalized. Which is basically what you are saying isn't it? I understand. Changing sides now ~~~~ This is why i am against Marijuana :]

the only way it kills your brain cells is by the effect not actually breathing air has, which is to say that people shouldn't be marines or ever attempt to hold there breath.

Although overall i can see how you could become "stupider", but that is a stretch to say the least.

This is true.

I'm entirely against it being legalised. Why woud we want to introduce another substance that needs to be regulated.

But I guess I'm just a bit square, I don't drink and I sure as hell would never go near a cigarette. Oh wait, that's not being square, that's being sensible...
 
I am against the legalization but i am against the use of lies and myths to support point ( if we do that we will end up being as ridicules as the Truth commercials), so please explain how it kills brains cells.
 
yes weed should be legal. you cant overdose on it people generally dont die from it and its technically not a drug its an herb.
