    Yay Egglockes Nay
Egglockes are a challenge that a ton pokemon fans like (including myself). Now I hope I'm not the only one that wishes nintendo would make an egglocke mode for Pokemon Sun and Moon once you beat the e4. How you could play it would be Nintendo has 5-10 pre made egglocke files, or you make a folder at the root of your sd card with the egg files in it named "Egglocke Sun" or "Egglocke Moon". Also Nintendo would make the rules pre-set but with the ability to choose optional rules.

In addition you might have an absent file or don't choose the egglocke preset that Nintendo made, you can just play like a regular nuzlocke if you are too light-hearted to not make exceptions in regular gameplay.

You might want to explain Egglockes to those who aren't familiar with the rules. :P

    I don't do Nuzlockes, so...

lol I was thinking the exact same thing... especially while eyeballing the "Egglockes are a challenge that a ton pokemon fans like." line. I had to look it up to know what it was, here's what I found.

My opinion, it's not all that different from a Nuzlocke, so really this thread is sort of taking the route of, "Pokemon games need to be harder."

As mentioned above, Game Freak don't seem to care about Nuzlockers and other people who do self-imposed challenge runs, so I feel this will be very unlikely especially when you consider the game is pretty much already finished by this point.

I've seen a few fan games do this as an option at the beginning and I'd actually really like it. Time to time I do enjoy doing these challenges on games that I've already completed so obviously this would be something that would really appeal to me. It is unlikely to be integrated but it would be cool!

they will probably never make it happen, egglocke is just a too specific way to play the game and would probably just limit the pokemons you can get
I also dont see them adding challanges like Nuzlocke as the idea of a pokemon permanantly dying isnt something i see gamefreak wanting since they want pokemons to be your friends and watching your friends die is kinda bad

TBH i would just like to see a dificulty, setting something that would limit the amount of pokemons you can use in trainer battles so they become more challanging and increase the level of the other trainer's pokemons

Yeah, I doubt gamefreak would want to put something like that in their games, but that's the beauty of Pokemon, the option is always there, they're not going to tell you how to play their game, but many different playstyles exists. Nuzlockes, Wonderlockes, Monotype runs, certain region Pokemon only runs, you name it. It's not like they shun any type of playstyle.

Yeah the only kind of difficulty increase that should be in the game officially should simply be simple changes; wild pokemon are stronger, trainers have stronger and more well thought out team, "Boss Battles" such as Team Admins and Gym Leaders/Elites/Champion should be much more difficult, Battle Facilities and NPC battles in general should employ better AI logic, and the game itself could incorporate other map changes and events that simply make the game more difficult to progress in.

A few map changes that I think could be difficulty conditional would be additional "Cut" trees, "Rock Smash" Rocks, "Flash" caves, NPCs who badge check at certain points, additional gym puzzle elements that are difficulty conditional, Leader Requirements such as "you must beat X trainers at this gym before I'll battle you" and things like that. All are minor changes.

Nuzlockes add an extra layer of artificial challenge to the game. If you've ever tried one, you'll realise that they require a lot more strategic planning than you first think. The combination of having one Pokemon per area, no healing items and releasing a Pokemon once it faints is difficult enough, and they're just the fundamental rules. You can also add extra restrictions such as level caps, no dupes clauses ect.

I doubt Nintendo would add any sort of fan-made challenge, and if they did, it would be something that they made up, or something a bit more popular.

This. I think they have other priorities for the game itself too like at least a somewhat more difficult game, and the not VGC 2016 situation when it comes to competitive.

GameFreak makes the games, Nintendo just publishes it.

I'd rather have a difficulty selection that the vast majority of games already have. I mean even even app game have them (song difficulties in LLSIF and CGSS, for example), so GameFreak honestly has no excuse to not include them.
