^ Something like that, it just makes it so much more obvious that the writers "purposely" make Ash lose. They couldn't have Ash beaten by a "normal" trainer this time, they had to actually put in some random guy with legendaries to make him lose. It annoys me that pretty much the whole way around Ash and co.'s journey there are just normal trainers, no one seems to hear about any powerful trainers apart from the E4, or random stories about some weird guy with legendaries. The writers get to the league and are like, lol, forgot we need to make up some guy for Ash to lose against again. If they really want Ash to lose, why can it not be to a recurring character? Ash losing in the last round to Paul or Gary would be much more satisfying than losing to a random last minute made character. Yeah, sure, you can explain away that the writers are "trying to make it seem as though there are many powerful trainers we don't even know of" (yeah right, it's just lazy writing), but every single time? I'm sorry, but that does not make for enjoyable watching.
If Ash is just meant to be a normal Pokemon trainer that can't win in any league, why exactly are we watching his story?
I'm glad that Zoey got to win the Grand Festival rather than some randomer. I would be more glad if she were actually a remotely interesting character. But it just makes watching Dawn's journey seem so pointless. She couldn't win against Zoey at the start, and she couldn't win against Zoey in the end.
Note: I did not say anywhere I hate the anime or whatever, no one give me "advice" to stop watching if I hate it so much, I'm just annoyed that Ash will never be allowed to win a regional league :D Yes, I do know that he won Orange Islands and Battle Frontier, don't repeat this to me >_>
