OOC: Yeah... what's happened to Flissie? I don't think she's posted in this for... a looong time. Yibber at least has posted somewhat recently. ^^;; Aw well, we shall continue.
Zachary
=============
"Wah!" Zachary grunted, seeing Ashura rush in close to the Magcargo and attempt her attack. He was as clueless about the mantis' attack as everyone else was, and he could only stand there, tensed up, as the fire cleared to reveal Ashura still standing.
His totally surprised expression accurately reflected his feelings on the matter. "Wow...," he said softly, his brain not working on how it was accomplished, just stopping to awe at the pokemon's strength. Luckily for Ashura Overheat weakens in its strength.
Zachary didn't realize it fully right then, but when Railey had revealed to them all that Rai was not just some regular, slightly well-off kid, but Isabel's son, it brought about a feeling towards Rai that Zachary hadn't acknowledged before-- jealousy. It wasn't fair that Rai was so well-prepared and trained to be a pokemon trainer. Zachary barely understood type differences, and had no money or time for any formal training. He was poor, Rai was rich. Rai had both his parents, and even though Isabel sounded horrid to live with, Rai had something that Zachary had always desperately wished he had; a decent father. Rai was so good at talking to others, and always came off as such a gentleman; whereas Zachary could barely manage to describe his feelings to Amelia.... It was for these reasons that Zachary felt a twinge of jealousy as Ashura came out of the battle with Magcargo victorious.
However, there was also the other side of Zachary. The one that knew the truth and liked Rai as a good friend. Whatever circumstances surround Rai's past or his family, it was not the boy's fault. Nor did he ever flaunt his riches or his lineage in anyone's face. He was kind and supportive, not spoiled and annoying. He was certainly not the poster child for rich children. Zachary knew all of this, and so he forced himself not to feel any jealousy towards Rai. This almost worked, but instead of getting rid of these feelings, the result was to bury them to be easily forgotten.
'Stop it,' he told himself, 'I shouldn't be feeling this about my friend... he's been nothing short of supportive of me. I look up to him... I do.' One thing was for sure... he felt extremely guilty about what he was feeling.
Forcing himself to ignore the internal struggle and instead focus on the battle before him, Zachary looked back up at Rai and Railey, awaiting their next moves.
OOC: Meh... hope that made sense... -.- I'm studying for a Botany test at the same time. XD
