Showgan -- Standing On Edge (Invitational)

Status
Not open for further replies.
OOC: Maxie running off? You know, this could actually be...fortitious. Yeees...with her out of the way we can get a bit more NK action as well. Nyuk, nyuk, yeeesss...I think that this turn of events was a good one indeed, good from a plot development perspective at least. >D

IC:

It all happened a bit too fast for Rai's tired mind; the re-appearance of the Nidoran, the pained scream from Maxie, and finally...the revealing of her hand. And what a hand indeed, much like Zachary, Rai was experiencing serious problems with not staring at it, it was so...so utterly vile that it held a peculiar kind of nauseating attraction, the kind which attracts crowds to freak shows and nasty accidents, and for several moments, Rai found himself simply standing there, feeling an increasing urge to vomit while at the same time being unable to tear his eyes away from the sight. Such a horrible wound...he couldn't even begin to imagine how it had to feel to go through life with something like that. What had happened? Surely the Nidoran's bite could have accomplished such damage? No, of course not, no venom acted that fast and especially not if there had been a thick glove in between. Whatever had caused that had had a long time to fester. But why? Why hadn't Maxie had that treated before it got so bad? Only Jena's uncertain call made the boy snap back into the present, just in time to watch Maxie depart.

"Maxie!" he finally managed to call after her, feeling a terrible sting of guilt within himself. Why had she left? Was it his fault, because he had stared so openly? Why had he stared? Why oh why had his ever constant companion, social ettiquette, suddenly chosen to abandon him when it was most essential that it wouldn't? "Maxie!" he repeated, "Wait! Come back!" the boy would have broken off into a run, but he was tired and already knew that it was too late. The girl had already run off to goodness knows where, and even if Rai had known where she would have gone, he seriously doubted that he'd have had any chance of catching up with her on foot, and Ashura was in no condition to help.

"That was..." Rai said quietly, staring off into the distance, "That was just...I shouldn't have...it was wrong to..." he gave a sigh of forfeit, giving the others a helpless look, "What should we do?" he asked at last, "That-that wound...it's so...we can't just..." he gave another sigh, dropping down to a crouch. What should we do? he wondered for himself, What on earth should we do?

OOC: A short postie!

Zachary
=============

He looked over to Rai, wanting some sort of explanation perhaps, but the boy looked just as horrified and shocked as Zachary felt. Zachary answered Rai's question.

"Leave her...," Zachary said, hoping he wouldn't sound too cruel, "Just let her go. I think... I think she needs some time alone. She... she doesn't need us crowding around her, asking her questions. I... I feel really horrible though... I shouldn't have looked...." He paused, looking at Ron for moral support, but Ron was frowning in the direction Maxie had gone in.

{That wasn't normal... what caused such a wound?} the Aron asked, folding his front arms. Zachary shook his head.

"I don't know Ron... but, she'll probably explain it when she comes back...," he suddenly thought of something, "She will come back, right? I mean... how will we find Sephy otherwise?"

OOC: Whew, finally got myself a replacement keyboard and mouse. Stupid malfunctions...<.< Anyways, it's about time I posted, so...

IC:

"But-" Rai protested at Zachary's response, rising back up into a more respectable pose, "That wound looked absolutely horrible, what if she can't afford to get it treated or something?" he took a pause, realizing that this might not have been the most proper remark, "I mean...didn't we just promise to share each others problems?" he concluded. It was rather ironic that he would come to bring this up first, the boy realized, seeing as how he hadn't exactly been thrilled by the prospect. But then again, his guilt alone would probably have been enough of an incentive for him to do something about it, "I...shouldn't have stared either..." he finished, staring at the groun, "That was...a terribly rude thing to do..."

Rai sighed, running a hand through his hair, a habit he often displayed when he wanted to calm himself down.

"I...guess you're right..." he concluded, "I mean, it's not like we can do anything about it now, is it? We don't even know where she went..." suddenly, a thought struck the boy, though, "No...wait." Rai added, his expression lightening up a bit, "She would probably have gone to get some kind of treatment for that, and there can't really be many hospitals nearby. Maybe we could ask Amelia about it?" he took a small pause, "I mean...if that's not intruding too much, at least we could try to find out what that injury is and if there's some kind of cure for it. It's worth a shot, right?"

OOC: And this would be my sneaky attempt at leading the group astray from the path to Koverike because...ah...you'll see soon enough. ^^

OOC: *looks around* Er... school must have eaten Yibber again. XD And since the storminess over here hasn't let up, I can only imagine what Plushie's been through. Darn rain! *shakes fist*

Anyway, hooray for the working keyboard and mouse!! You seem to have these problems a lot Alter. ^^;;

Zachary
==============

"I don't know if she would accept help or money from us like that... Maxie seems like the kind of person who has a lot of pride," Zachary answered to Rai's comment about cost problems for treatment. He didn't like leaving a friend like that either, but he could see little else they could do in this situation.

When Rai commented on his staring, Zachary felt a little better for a moment, glad that he wasn't the only one to make such a foolish mistake. However, he suddenly felt horrible again as he realized that there was more than one person staring at Maxie. She must think they were so cruel. "I know... I hope she doesn't... hate us for that," he said, sighing.

He remained silent as Rai went on to talk about what they could do, his eyes staring off into space only half-listening. He looked over at Rai when Amelia's name came up, suddenly becoming more interested. "Yeah, you're right!" he said, happy about it for more than one reason, "Maybe it will show Maxie that we don't care about what's wrong with her, and that she shouldn't be afraid of telling us about her... injury. I like it. Besides, maybe it'll help her."

Ron nodded. He felt really bad for Maxie too, and why had Fang done it in the first place? He saw Maxie's surprised face when the Nidoran had appeared, and her glances to Fang. It wasn't hard to put two and two together. Why would he have embarrassed her like that? Did he not like all of them? The little Aron didn't know what to think, but he suspected that the actual injury itself was only half of the story.

OOc-

Yes! It is school! And Feebas me for writing my name wrongly and having to rewrite it 100 times. XD
But bleh, that's not much. X3

Still, the mid-years are coming. And there bes be more and more tests to get us ready. And even though I don't really study, cause nothing would seep into my brain(darn my short attention span. >_>), there's no wrong in flipping through textbooks now and again.>D

Anyways, I'm having Thursday and Friday off from school this week, so, here's hoping for me being able to catch up in Ancient Dynasty! XD
Yey for Good Friday! ^0^

Ic-

Jena stood at the spot she had taken to, as Rai and Zachary started talking about Maxie. The girl frowned and let out a sigh, why hadn't she noticed it before? She knew it had something to do with the gloves, but she never knew that it'd actually be this serious.

The Coordinator nodded as the suggestion of them going to ask Amelia about nearby hospitals. Even though it seemed highly unlikely that Maxie would even agree to going for treatment... What was it that everyone liked to say? There was nothing wrong in hoping.

"Eh, we can get the treatment, but the more important thing would be the person who's taking the treatment..."she commented lightly, was the girl going to even return to them, after that scene?

"But, the promise that we made, she should come back. Eh, maybe we should just let her have some alone time. Doubt that she'll come back in a few minutes after all that's happened...."Jena had yet another gut feeling, Maxie would return to them. She seemed like the type of person who would. After all, she was the one who brought up the promise.

Funny, why did everyone get so worked up over this promise? The Coordinator couldn't blame them though, now matter how hard she'd try to supress it herself, she still had that guilty stab in her heart.

OOC: Oh Meh Gee...hiiii Yibber! ^0^ And good luck on your remaining exams. Myself, I don't seem to have that much left at the moment and I don't even have to go to the daycare anymore, hours filled up the other week. *Feels like such a slacker for having this much free time while others are toiling* xD

Oh, and I've just got to gloat...I finally got a proper Cradily on my Emerald team! Pwhee! ^0^ The little sweetheart looks like so;

Cradily "Limu" (Female) @ Amulet Coin
Level: 57
Nature: Careful (+Sp.Defense, -Sp.Attack)
Trait: Suction Cups
Moveset:
Earthquake
Ancientpower
Mirror Coat
Recover

That's right y'all, Lucy had better watch her back once I get this one and meh Adamant Snorlax (Biggs) up to level 60. Oh yes, she shall rue the day she hurt my precious Bubu... >D

IC:

Rai gave a small sigh, "True..." he commented on both Jena's and Zachary's statements. From what he had seen, Maxie did come off a bit as the type of person who'd rather fail for herself than succeed with help, and of course finding the girl again and apologizing should have priority, but the fact of the matter was that the afforementioned pride might set in if they were too quick about it. Fortunately, Jena was quick to contradict her own statement, sparing Rai from trying to argue out a compromise on such weak grounds.

Meanwhile, Kaika suddenly leapt out of Rai's arms in such a light and silent manner that the boy didn't even notice, the fox pokémon slowly walking up to Ron and simply watching the Aron for a moment before finally speaking up;

{Umm...Ron?} the fire type began a bit uncertainly, taking a few steps closer, {Kaika wonderings...bes you thinkings about what the bat person dids do too?} the Vulpix's speech pattern might have made the question sound almost funny to certain people, but there was a grave seriousness behind it, which was mirrored in the little fox's whole being.

"I know..." Rai replied to Jena's last comment, "I just hope that she will return eventually..." he took a brief pause, "At any rate...standing about here isn't going to do either her or us any good." the boy concluded, "Let's get going, shall we?"

OOC: Just don't let revenge consume you Alter. ^-^

Yay!! I finally got around to get Howl's Moving Castle! OMG, I love that movie! Ah, I knew I'd like it. The animation in Miyazaki movies is always so breathtaking.

Zachary
===========

"Yeah, let's go...," Zachary agreed, finding himself wondering about Maxie's coming back to them too. Would she after what happened? The others were right though, she was the one talking about friendship and trust... and... all that time she was hiding that wound. Why? Well, they hadn't been friends for long, it was only natural that she keep it from them at first, no doubt afraid about how the would react.

Her fears weren't groundless, Zachary was suddenly reminded of Rai admitting his lineage, and of his own fears of discussing his father.... It was so hard to know how others would react to you.

"She'll come back... she will," he said to himself, walking along with the others, adjusting the sunglasses on top of his head. He often forgot that they were even up there considering his head got so used to their feel.

Ron looked at Kaika with a serious look to match the fox's own, {Yeah, I was. I just can't understand why Fang would do something like that to Maxie... does he not like us?} The little Aron wasn't sure, but what he was sure about was that there was more to this than they knew.

OOC: Revenge consume me? *Innocent look* Why Lightie-chan, I am surprised that you could even think such a thing. xD *Hides elaborate plans of revenge behind his back* Anyways, I would have posted here earlier today, but it's my grandma's birthday and you only turn 76 once in a lifetime so I figured it was worth joining in on the celebration. ^-^

Concerning Moving Castle, yeah, the animations are pwnsome. Plus, there are so many funny characters. (My personal favourite still has to be that sorceress-person's dog. xD) Ahh...I'm going to have to nag my parents into getting this on DVD for us, because it's out in stores (So sayeth the television ad) and I'm too lazy to go hunting myself. ^^

Anyways...

IC:

{Kaika...Kaika not knowings...} the Vulpix replied thoughtfuly to Ron's question, keeping in step with the Aron as the group set out towards the pokémon center, {Him...dids be pretty nice to little Kaika at least, and him dids obviously be likings Maxie lots. That's why little Kaika bes so confused...}

Lacking anything more to say, Rai remained silent during their journey. Although he did catch on to what Zachary said. "She'll come back...she will." he repeated in his mind, If only I was so sure about it, myself...

The boy decided not to dwell on it too long, however. Maxie would come back if she felt like it, regardless of what they did or didn't do in the mean time, so making sure that the girl would feel welcomed if - no, not if. When - she did come seemed like the best option to him. And the best 'welcome back' present they could possibly provide would have to be some kind of cure for that wound. He stopped by the entrance of the pokémon center, holding up the door for the others in his usual manner. And the cure? Well, their best bet at finding it would be right there...

With this in mind, Rai stepped inside after the others, immediately turning his attention to his surroundings in order to locate Amelia as quick as possible, hoping that the trainee had stayed true to her promise to wait for them. Well, he didn't have to wonder about that too long...

"Oh! There you are!" the girl called out in a relieved tone, quickly dashing across the otherwise almost completely deserted lobby and towards the group, while Kuro followed her in a far less enthusiastic manner, casting discreet glances of contempt at Zachary as he went.

"You took so long! I was beginning to get worried that maybe-" the trainee cut herself off in mid-sentence, a concerned look appearing on her face as she noticed the general expressions of the group, "What's wrong?" she asked in a concerned voice, "And where's Maxie?"

OOC:

'Ello-ness. =D

Ya know how I was sick for a while that time long ago? Well, that sorta backed up my schoolwork and so I was sucked into a world of doubled-up homework for the longest time. 'Cause for some reason we're having a lot more assignments than usual.. Like a cruel and unusual punishment for the end of the year or something.

So my computer time = nadda.

Until now because I BEAT THE HOMEWORK. OH YEAH.

By the way, I've recently discovered that one cannot draw an orange with a red sharpie. No one else notices these things, eh?

IC:

Kayley, in yet another one of her silent moods, decided to follow the others as the decision to move on came up, choosing not to comment on anything that had happened after Maxie's glove had been removed. Well, everyone else had already reached a conclusion anyway.. what was the point of her commenting as well? As if it were her place to judge Maxie's actions?

And so she followed. Silently. Fishy walked beside her, having to speed up every so often so that he did not fall behind. Apparently his mood had been pretty much killed as well, seeing as how he wasn't making any irrelevant comments, or running ahead of her with a boost of energy. Actually, she was hoping he would make some sort of comment. He usually found a way to get people thinking positively..

That was when Kayley found herself in the Pokemon Center with everyone else, having tagged along so deep in her thoughts that she didn't even remember entering the building. Wow, that was actually kind of sad.. And so she decided to make up for it by responding to Amelia's questions.

"Well.. we were sort of hoping that, if you have the time, that you'd give us a hand with.." She then found herself trailing off, having lost the words to explain why they had all come. Kayley bit her lip, not knowing how to continue, and she didn't really know why.

OOC: PLUSHIE!!! *hugs* Poor thing! Homework really stinks, don't it? >=|

Zachary
============

Even though this business with Maxie was quite depressing, Zachary was looking forward to seeing Amelia. She was no doubt going to go over the mountain as she had suggested, so who knew if they were to see her again anytime soon after her departure?

Ron had agreed with Kaika's statement. {I know what you mean. Fang always seemed to be nice to us... there must be some reason he would do that to Maxie,} the steel type mused, just as confused as the little fox, {I guess we won't know until Maxie comes back.}

As they entered the Pokemon Center, Amelia came up to them, looking quite glad to be seeing them. She noticed that Maxie was gone though, and Zachary couldn't blame her; the girl had made quite an impression on the trainee in more ways than one.

"Hi Amelia...," Zachary said to the girl, "Kayley's right... we wanted to ask for your help with something about Maxie. See she sorta... well...." How was he supposed to talk about Maxie's wound? He made a side glance to Rai, and then looked back at Amelia.

"Uh, it's a little hard to talk about...," he said, giving the girl a nervous smile.

Ron looked over at Kuro. {Eh? What's up with... ah, I see. Nevermind,} the pokemon said to the cat, a knowing smile growing under his helmet.

OOC: Like woah, quintuple post...o.o Dang site malfunctions and whatnot. -.- But I agree, homework is pure evil, conspiring with Real Life to keep us all away from the happy place. >=|

Like I said in my PM, welcome back, Plushie. ^.^

IC:

In response to the exchanging of glances and vague explanations, Amelia's expression only became more worried, Kuro taking up a spot a bit closer to her just to be sure.

"Something's wrong with Maxie?" she asked worriedly, her voice growing a bit shriller. Granted, Maxie hadn't exactly been nice to her when they first met, but that was then, and the older girl had done a lot of good since, "Oh no, she-she didn't fall off a cliff or something, did she?" the trainee continued, "Or did that gym leader who did something to her? Ohhh...Gwendolyn's going to have his head when she hears-"

"Oh, no, no, no-it's not like that!" Rai hastily interrupted, worried that Amelia would get completely hysteric if something wasn't done quick. Already, the trainee's words were recieveing a bit more attention from the few people around than what was really beneficial for their cause, and the boy really didn't want it to get worse.

"It's her hands..." he continued, noting to his relief that Amelia had, at least, the sense to calm down a bit and listen, "Well, one of them anyhow...it-it looks like it's dead or something, you can almost see the bones, it's-" Rai spread out his arms in search of the right words, casting a pleading look to the others and hoping that at least one of them could help him out, "She-one of her gloves came off by acident, and she was so shocked that she ran off...we were...we were hoping that you could help us find her..." the boy finished, unsure of how to contiune.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unbeknownst to Rai and the others, however, they were by no means the only ones conerned about Maxie's whereabouts. Within one of the various NK bases scattered across Showgan, a certain psychic was carefully monitoring the girl's departure. Needless to say, said psychic was none too pleased by what he saw...

"No! No! NO!" Mesmer fumed, punctuating each exclamation by rapping the control room floor sharply with his cane, his NK assistant very determinedly staring at the display in front of him and keeping a single word from escaping his tightly shut, thin lips, "Ewans!" the psychic continued, quickly twirling around and pointing his cane straight at the man.

"Yes...sir?" the other one asked in a strainedly polite voice.

"Is the tracer I placed on her still functional?"

The tech assistant nodded, "See for yourself." he remarked, gesturing towards the screen which bore a crude, digitalized, but still fairly accurate map of the Azure Town area, a single rapidly blinknig dot travelling across it at a fairly fast pace.

"Good." Mesmer replied simply, calming down a bit, "And have you managed to ascertain any possible destination for her sudden flight?"

"No, sir." Ewans replied, "But her movements seem rather erratic and illogical, I would assume that she is running from something."

"Assume?!" the psychic thundered, pointing his cane accusingly at the man, "You have not been hired to assume, Mr. Ewans..." he continued icily, "And you have not been hired to think. Those are tasks best left to people of cerebral capability like myself, your task is to observe and report, not think." he said the last word in a definitely mocking manner, "And where precisely would she seem to be fleeing, then?"

The tech assistant's neutral expression grew ever more strained, "Like I said..." he replied monotonously, "The evidence is inconclusive as of yet. However..." he took a pause to study the monitor, "She seems to be heading in the general direction of Koverike City.

"Koverike City?" Mesmer echoed, his eyes narrowing as he pushed the tech assitant aside in order to examine the evidence for himself, "Why that insolent simian..." Of course it could just be a coincidence... he told himself, But Mesmer Fettucini shall not take such a foolish gamble. "Ewans!" the psychic suddenly growled, snapping out of his thoughts and back into reality, "Get me Jack on the phone ASAP!"

"Right away...sir..." Ewans replied, persistently sticking to his monotone as he proceeded to type in a number on a nearby video phone, the figure of a male whose face was almost completely obscured by what looked like an elaborate knight's helmet soon appearing on the screen.

"Sir Fettucini..." the NK executive said, nodding in the form of an extremely short bow as he adressed the psychic in a completely calm voice, "How may I serve?"

"Start with a status report." Mesmer replied, "How is the Daven Springs operation progressing?"

"Everything is going as planned, sir." Jack said calmly, "The upper habitats have been successfully cleared and my men are mobilizing to scour the lower ones as we speak."

"Good." the psychic said, nodding, "And the locals?"

"Things go as you predicted that they would, sir." the NK executive replied, the mouth visible below the visor curling up into a mocking smile, "Between the dissaperance of the Milotic population and a few choice 'natural accidents' we have those superstitious fools firmly convinced that the Lifegiver is punishing them for their greed and selfishness. They are far too scared to oppose us."

Mesmer's eyes glinted, a smile spreading across his face as well as he once again began twirling his moustache, "Perfect. It is good to know that there are at least some competent employees in my service." he cast a meaning glance at Ewans who, wisely, held his tongue.

"Thank you, sir." the NK executive said, nodding briefly in acknowledgement once more, "What are your orders?"

Polite, but straight to the point... Mesmer mused, Far better than these cretins I usually have to work with... "First off, proceed with the Daven Springs operation as planned." he said in an even voice, "But tell your men to quicken the pace, for as you know, we have need of resources on other fronts as well. And secondly..." the psychic continued, his expression growing far more displeased, "One of our...voluntary agents is behaving in a suspect manner and is reportedly heading in your direction. I shall have her profile submitted to you shortly."

"A traitor?" Jack echoed, "Understood, I shall hunt her down personally."

"That won't be necessary." Mesmer interrupted, shaking his head slowly, "Although what little knowledge she possesses is harmful, I have a means of keeping her under control. Instead, I want you to place that wench's Ralts under doubled security, is this clear?"

"Yes, sir." the NK executive replied, nodding once more, "And should someone come seeking this pokémon?"

"You have permission to use whatever means necessary to achieve your objectives." Mesmer replied, "But keep in mind, should you encounter Artemis' brat then I want him delivered to me in one piece. There is no need to be nice, just keep him alive so that he can be used as a bartering chip."

"Understood." Jack concluded, "I shall report back to you when I have attained progress. Jack out."

"They had better..." Mesmer muttered to the empty screen, twirling his moustache in agitation, "They had better...."

OOC: What the? o.o I looked at this thread yesterday and I only had one post! That's not fair! *whine* >.> Oh well, got it cleared up. ^^;

Zachary
=============

Luckily Rai described what exactly had happened with Maxie, for Amelia was drawing attention to them. Zachary was sure that Maxie would most certainly not like the whole Pokemon Center to know about her... injury.

"Yeah, um, we figured that since you know more about medical things than us, that you might be able to help Maxie," Zachary said to the girl. He sighed, "The way Maxie's hand looked was--."

The few trainers nearby that had begun to look as if they were curious about what they were all discussing had seemingly stopped talking amongst each other and now seemed to be straining to hear this information about Maxie. Zachary figured that perhaps this wasn't exactly the best place to be talking about all of this anymore.

"Is there someplace more private we can go to talk about this? Some people can't seem to be polite around here," he said to Amelia, casting a side-glance to the curious trainers. Ron snorted toward them with disapproval.

"I second that..." Rai concured with Zachary's comment, casting a distasteful glance at the rather openly staring crowd members, "This matter is a bit too...delicate for such open conversation."

"I-oh yes, of course." Amelia said, blushing slightly for an unknown reason as she nodded in response, "Umm...follow me."

With that, the trainee turned around, heading towards the counter in a slightly hasty-looking manner while the other people in the room continued to stare after the odd procession.

"As for the rest of you." Rai commented to the people around them, "I'd advice you to clear out before Gwendolyn notices you." he placed purposeful emphasis on the head nurse's name, and sure enough, a good deal of the spectators quickly returned to minding their own bussiness.

"Over here..." Amelia added timidly, surpressing the urge to laugh at some of the expressions that the disgruntled spectators wore as she led the group over to the kitchen-area which was currently deserted, "Well, this is as private as it gets over here." the trainee remarked turning back to adress the others, "So...how am I supposed to help, exactly?"

Zachary
============

As the group moved into the kitchen area, Zachary too was quite amused by the other trainers' expressions about Rai's mention of Gwendolyn.

He turned his attention to Amelia though, and thought about her question. "Well maybe if we can describe what her hand looked like, you might have some sort of knowledge about it, or what can help her. Anything really would be nice," the boy said, nodding to the girl. It was so nice of her to have waited so long for them to come back from the gym. She was such a stark contrast to that woman she had worked for.

Gwendolyn was indeed scary, but thinking of her made the boy realize something.

He hadn't done anything clumsy in a while! Truly he hadn't! Perhaps it was just the calm before the storm, but he really wasn't--

CLANK! A rather large stack of posts and pans that had been left out to dry on a counter began to tumble, Zachary having brushed against them accidently. He hurriedly began to try and catch the towering pile of cookware and stabilize it somehow.

"Whoops... can someone... help me?" he grunted as he held the pans from falling, a pan or two evading his grasp and threatening to topple onto the floor.

OOC: Can't let Zachy-boy go too long without making an idiot of himself. XD

OOC:

Y'know, I just realized something..

I let Kinaki get completely lost because I FORGOT ABOUT HER. xD

A doi.

It shall be remedied later, yes?

IC:

Kayley was also quite pleased with the decision to move into the kitchen, which was because she hadn't even noticed that people were staring their way until Zach suggested they go somewhere private. As if she hadn't already been oblivious enough that day.. she felt better in moving to a more suitable location so that, hopefully, she wouldn't have to worry about being oblivious to everything besides their group.

She couldn't ponder this for too long, however, for the sound of clashing pots and pans quickly forced her attention onto Zachary, who had accidently bumped into said stack of pots and pans, and was now struggling to keep them all from falling.

"Uh, right..!" Kayley said, in response to Zach's request for.. a bit of assistance. She set down her case on the floor near the counter, quickly moving forward to catch the pans that had managed to avoid his grasp. Dang, the whole pile of kitchenware was wobbling everywhere.. she highly doubted her help would matter much.

Of course, Fishy decided to be of no help whatsoever, leaping onto the trumpet case from his spot on the floor. In an instant he was hopping up and down, playing an imaginary game of some sort.

{ooc| *everyone wails* "Oh no, she's baaaaaaack!"

Mrew. I'm gonna read all the roleplays now. I had a lot of fun, though, and I snorkelled, jet skiied, canooed (now THAT must have been funny to watch, I was terrible!), rode horses, rode speedboats drank, ate, danced the meringue, swam with dolphins, and met a reeeeeally cute puppy. That was a summary. I like summaries. *hints*

I like your siggy picture, Melissa =o}

Koverike City...
Maxiehad been running for nearly an hour now, her hand clutched to her chest, Fang flapping behind reluctantly. Maxie had hardly spoken; this had unnerved Fang. She was angry. She had only ever given him the cold shoulder once before, and that had not ended well. Normally he was the one giving her the hump. He didn't like her silence.
{Maxie?} he ventured.
"No, Fang." she replied stonily, and kept running. Fang beat his wings a little faster so he was flying level with her, and stole a look at her face. What's she thinking? he thought desperately.

Maxie watched Koverike City rear up on the horizon. She had tried to avoid entering another urban settlement; she had zig-zagged, back-tracked, anything to avoid the city, and Fang had followed diligently, but Maxie knew she had to face up to it sooner or later. Her team had a base in Koverike - of course, a deadly secret one, to avoid attracting the attention of those NK dogs - and.....well... she had to get her hand treated....
Maxie's eyes itched suddenly, and she quickly rubbed at them with her palm. Don't cry, she told herself sharply, I don't cry.
The memory of them all - Kayley, Zachary, Rai, Jena - and their disgusted, incredulous expressions kept swimming unbidden to mind. They had just...kept staring... Again, her eyes grew hot, and she felt the unfamiliar twinge of tears. What was I expecting? Congratulations? she thought bitterly.
She turned to Fang. The zubat flinched underneath her glaring gaze. {...Maxie...} he began.
"I...can't believe them. I thought-"
{-they'd be... different?} Fang interupted warily. Maxie's eyes sharpened.
"Why did you show them, Fang? To prove to me? Was it for...my own good? Or yours? Hmm?" she snapped, and Fang ropped his gaze quickly.
Maxie turned toward Koverike city.
Humiliation time, I guess. she thought bitterly. She put it off long enough. It was time to see her doctor.

{ooc| Description of Koverike city needed, sah!}

OOC: Oh Meh Gee! Charoooon! ^0^ *Resists urge to try one of them flying tackles* I'd probably break something trying to do that, not to mention gaining a reputation as a person of questionable virtue. xD

Anyhow, first things first; a description of Koverike City...well, it was original built by a tribe that worshiped flying pokémon and the wind, and the planning still bears the same, basic elements; clean air, plenty of open space, and extremely tall buildings. There's a gym there too, which would be the tallest of the lot. Oh, and practically all buildings utilize the roof as a place for sitting and socializing, quite weird to outsiders since the altitude around there is very high, and the temperature accordingly low. Locals are used to both thin air and cold, though, and don't mind at all. ^^ And one thing more; they have this really big traditional party-thingie called the 'Festival of Ascenscion' coming up, so the town would be a bit more...livelier than usual, including the appearance of a great many Skydancers (Formerly the warriors of the tribe, now simply the elite of the flying type trainers, they'll be dressing in funny, colorful, and weary flashy feathered outfits since the festival is coming up. Oh, and they're exclusively male, since the tradition is so sexist. xD). I hope that's enough details for now. Oh, and once Maxie gets a bit further into the city I could arrange for a little...special NPC to give her a bit of company. >D I'm still thinking that the others will have to pass through Daven Springs (Hope that doesn't take too long), because the little plot thingie there will tie in with a little plot thingie in Koverike City, so basically Maxie can either try to head on to Daven Springs (where they can meet up) for one reason or the other or she can find some clue about Sephy in Koverike City and proceed to investigate it on her own, while the others proceed with the plot-thingie in Daven Springs which will lead them to Koverike where they can meet up. Ahem, comments on this? Looks like I got a bit carried away...^^

At any rate, welcome back Charon, and...I'll add an IC later. As for summaries...well, I'm doing a Showgan summary for Flissie, but I'm guessing that you were refering to the other RPs since you seem to have a good hang of this one? Well, I'll see what I can do, although you'll probably have read it all yourself before I'm done...

{ooc| *is yodelled at* Yay, I was missed. Well, I'm completely shameless so...
*flying tackles Alter*
Yeah, I missed you guys. I even missed school, actually. And when I saw my dog...? I practically exploded, I missed him so much.

Flissie might be coming back? That's brilliant!
I was thinking more AD and Ryko... my brain is still strained from reading 'Johnathan Strange & Nr Norrel' for ten hours straight on the plane home (okay, I'm a slow reader, don't rub it in! xD) Oh.... and it Mutation Wave still around? I drew Eve. Without references! OMG, like, I drew a human without looking in the mirror/magazines for a pose! *punches air*
Anyway.... that was a very lovely description, Alter. I shall make Maxie wander into the city... visit her 'Doctor', and yeah.... maybe Maxie could have a 'companion' for a bit. Give some clues about Sephy... etc...

Sorry for slowness. I'm currently doing an essay for English: 'Compare the movies 'Jaws' and 'Deep Blue Sea' and explain how the skill of the director is evident' - like, how the hell is that english?? If I wanted to write about movies I would have taken Media Studies... *grumbles*}

OOC: Ah-hah! Finally finished that summary for Flissie! I'll start working on the others soonishly, might not have time to post the Ancient Dynasty one before tommorrow, though. Stupid computer time restrictions...-.-

Anyways...*Ish flying tackled* Like, yey. ^^ On Ryko...it's hardly progressed anywhere since Plushie's had a lot of real-life interference lately. The ray gun eventually failed to blow up, and then proffessor Chrysso had a fit about it until he concluded that all he needed was better parts, so...of course he requested that the group would go and deliver a letter about it to his supplier who lives in a city which is located in a completely different area of Ryko. Well, Cynthia accepted...as did Yikari, partially because Cynthia did...and Oliver kind of looks like he'd hang around anyway...still, it's only a few posts, really. I'm sure you'll have no problem catching up there. As for Mutation Wave...well, *Twitch* it has been very quiet for several days now, so I don't know...better ask Kogenta bout that. o.o

Oh, and I just got an e-mail from Yibber the other day. She says that she'll be following the RPs but not necessarily posting in them since she's got major schoolwork this week (6 tests in the near future is not a laughing matter), and I assume that Flissie is facing something similar so it might take a while before either of them posts. Oh well, at least Flissie's got the summary now so she'll have an easier time catching up.

And one more thing...if anyone of you would have information on the backgrounds and personalitites of the Johto gym leaders and elites I'd be much obliged if you'd share it with me. My fanfic is based in Johto and I don't want to misportray any of the leaders, especially if some of them would fit into the plot or would, from a logical perspective, be opposed to something or the other that's happening.

That being said, I'll finally try to piece together an...

IC:

"Umm..." Amelia began in response to Zachary's comment, staring at the floor and shuffling her feet nervously, "I'm not sure if I know that much about injuries that are so...serious, but I guess I could-"

She was never allowed to finish her sentence as Zachary proceeded to bump into a rather large stack of pots and pans that had been resting on a nearby counter, sending the kitchen utensils wobbling and tumbling down in a rather intimidating manner.

{Meep!} Kaika yelped, immediately leaping into Rai's arms, the boy, in turn, quickly veering out of the way as a rather heavy-looking frying pan came flying towards his foot while Kuro leap in between Amelia's legs with an agitated hiss.

"We'll have to stabilize that." Rai concluded, quickly rushing to the trembling pile and beginning to pick down the various pots and pans from the top of it as fast as he dared, Amelia quickly joining in, and, after a few frantic moments, the pile settled into a semi-stable state once again.

For a moment more, Amelia stood stock-still, a slightly frightened look entering her eyes as she listened intently for the ominous and unimstakable sound of nurse Gwendolyn's footsteps...only to fail in hearing such.

"She...she didn't notice..." the trainee concluded softly, sighing in relief as she quickly bent down to collect the various pots and pans that had scattered across the kitchen floor.

"Umm...about that...injury you mentioned..." Amelia added after a while, her voice a bit more quiet than before, "I...think I heard something that might be related to that...oh, but it's too strange...it's probably nothing..."

"You know..." Rai remarked, a slight smile spreading across his face, "After today I can quite safely state that there are very few things I would consider 'too strange' anymore. Please, if you think that it might be useful please tell us..."

"Well..." the traine continued, hesitating for a moment more before she finally took a deep breath and continued, "I heard that there was something strange about that Zubat she brought in, I..." she lowered her voice a bit again, "I heard...that it didn't have a heartbeat."

OOC: Uh, yeah...I sort of figured that the trainee nurse who looked at Fang might have let it slip, or that there was someone else who saw it, ah you know how word gets around...just tell me if this explanation is unacceptable and I'll edit. ^^

OOC: Hi Charon!!! ^_____^ I tried to post in this thread earlier, but PC ate it up. -_-; I can't re-type posts right after typing them, I just don't have the heart and I'm usually too frustrated. XD

And I have dignity, but not enough to keep me away from a flying tackle! I once had a large session of flying tackling with Cybex Mewtwo. ^^ So... CHARON! *flying tackles Charon* And because it won't just be me and Alter posting anymore (with a bit of Plushie), I shall celebrate with them too! *flying tackles Alter and Plushie together* Yay! XD

Anyway, I'm glad the trip was fun! It's always nice to hear a pleasant vacation story, considering I usually hear bad ones. ^^; That's too cute about your doggie! I remember how hard it was to leave my bunny @ the vets for five days when my family went on vacation. ;_; I had been soooo happy to see him when we came back!

And Maxie needs a hug. ;.; Poor Maxie.

Zachary
=============

{Heh heh, looks like nothing's safe from your clumsiness Zach!} Ron chuckled, watching the others rush over to help the boy with the falling cookware.

The tumbling and shaking pile of pots and pans didn't look good even after Kayley had rushed over to help. Zachary had given her a grateful look, even if she hadn't done much it was still something. Rai rushed over to help too, and suddenly Zachary felt quite foolish, needing two people to help and endangering their hiding spot.

As Rai took down some of the cookware, Zachary took his own arms away from the pile. "S-sorry... um, yeah," Zachary mumbled, blushing a little and not really feeling so happy about any of this. He probably looked stupid in front of Amelia too....

Ron looked guilty suddenly. He hadn't meant to make fun of Zachary like that. He really must learn to choose his joke moments better.

He continued to listen to the conversation though, trying to tell himself that it was stupid to feel bad about something out of his control. He looked up with a frown as Amelia said that what she heard was weird. What would someone working in the center know about Maxie? When she said that Fang had no.. heartbeat... that sent a strange chill up him.

"What? But... then how is he, you know, alive?" the boy asked, his voice low and a little shaky. He really couldn't quite believe he was even asking this.
