Showgan -- Standing On Edge (Invitational)

Not open for further replies.
Kayley was saddened at the fact that she couldn't rejoice over the fact that they had made it to the top a bit longer, shoulders drooping a bit as she followed the others towards the Gym. Fishy crossed the bridge a few steps behind Kayley, unlike what he had done on the way up the mountain, grinning toothily at the sight of water below them. Of course, he wouldn't dare let the scalding waters touch him.

The same went for Kinaki, who was still being sure to follow close behind. She giggled slightly, completely entranced by-

{BUBBLES!} Kinaki called out shrilly, having recovered from her recent whiny mood. She watched in fascination as the boiling waters created bubbles every now and then, most of them popping within an instant of having been formed.

{Keep it down! If you're going to be the group stalker, the least you can do is let us enjoy the sight!} Fishy exclaimed back towards the Mawile, although Kinaki was much too entranced by bubbles to listen.

"We're here anyways, Fishy." Kayley commented, rolling her eyes. She had stepped into the Gym after Maxie and Rai, having gotten across the bridge without much difficulties. That mountain had really given her self-confidence a boost, endurance-wise.

Fishy harumphed, leaping to Kayley's side as the two advanced in time with the others, Kinaki resisting the urge to stay outside and watch bubbles all day.

Like, thankies, dudes!^^
There are, of course, more Franticshippy hints.^^
Which I of course, scanned in yesterday out of...the urge to scan...Franticshippy stuff?XD
And I was so nice to actually include the scan of a whole chapter this round..^0^

But before that....Aw, Sapphire's blushing.^^

Ic-

Jena didn't really comment on anything as they walked over the bridge, just taking a few glances to what was underneath her now and again. Even if she was interested in the way the gym was built, she wasn't dense enough to stick her head out so that she could feel the steam up close. The heat wasn't really bothering her, but that didn't mean she was totally immune to it, wiping the sweat off her face, she was the second last ot enter gym, right after Kayley.

"Eh...wow."she mumbled and continued following the group as the Wurmple on her shoulder decided to get onto the floor, now it seemed safer. And the numerous pipelines were just so inviting! If Jena had let him, he would have started crawling onto the metal things. It reminded him of the tree branches back at home.

{Whoo! Look at the metal, tree-branchy, sound producing things!}the Bug type exclaimed out loud, pointing towards the pipelines with a sparkle in his eyes.

{No thank you. I feel safer up ere'. With my eyes..closed.}Tania shook her head vigorously, hoping that her wings wouldn't get tired anytime soon. Just the thought of opening eyes seemed to shake the Flying type enough.

{Bleh..}Cascade stuck his tougue and breathed in and out in a slow fashion, it wasn't like the hotness was getting to him, it was the fact that he needed..he had an urge to stick his tougue out. Yeah..

OOc-

Okies, I remember talking about Sapphire and Ruby having a fight in Fortree[Hence..*sniffle* Mimi's runaway.T^T]. Anyways, I didn't really go into it, cause, Feebas, was this part Franticshippy...^-^

So yeah, Ruby refused to help Sapphire and the Gym Leaders.
*cough* Sapphire then decided to let out her fustration and anger at Ruby by..d'erm..reverting back to wearing leaves infront of the boy..? -^-^-;;

Isn't Sapphire daring? Yeah, Feebas, yeah.^^
Yeah, *Sapphire starts slapping Ruby around verbally*

And the slapping ends with the throwing of his hand-made clothes..T_T

--
Ahead to after Ruby gets around round of tougue-lashing from Wallace after Mimi *sniffle* ran away. The dude woke up at the First-Aid centre, and overheard Wallace talking to Winona.
Clickeh, as I do not have the exact attention span right now to revise these two extremely confusing pages.X3

So yeah, Mr Briney told Ruby about Relicanth's Diving ability.[Sapphire got the Relicanth/named Relo/by rescuing him. Kyogre's tsunami bes be so strong, that it managed to force the poor thing out of the depths of the ocean.>_<] Only he knows how they can get to the Cave of Origin.

--Start full[almost] chapter scan-

Doesn't he look hawt standing there and trying to sort out his thoughts on what to do? And those cute hallucinations he's having..^^

I just have to hand it to the blind dude, he actually helped Ruby get a full attitude adjustment without even knowing it.^^

*attitude adjustment ish starting to take effect*

Like, yey for the new and improved, and hawter Ruby!^0^

Whoa my Feebas, Whoa my Feebas, Whoa my Feebas. He looks so hawt in them new clothes.*drools*

*Ruby explains*

*Sapphire believes*

*They dance around happy* Look! Ruby's winking at Sapphire!!!^0^

*gaspen* What is tha I see? Possibly a new stack of clothes sown by Ruby to match his which are in Sapphire's size?

*Sapphire considers the new clothes with the aid of Ruby's sincere look*

SQUEEEE!!! *SCREAMS THE WHOLE NEIGHBOURHOOD AWAKE, POINTS, JUMPS, TACKLES AND HUGGLES PICCEH*

...*cough* I have NO Feebas idea what cause me to do that to the scan.^^;;
Anyways, here's the original scan which wasn't tampered by Yibber.

And we end off the last chapter of 19 with them diving. D'aw...^^

^ Hope I got their order correctly..o_o;;

OOC: *Is confused now* Is no-one else taking note of what the gym leader's saying? o.o That's kind of awkward if they're gonna' challenge him. xD Aaaanyhow...

Yay for franticshippyness! ^0^ But whoa, now I'm beginning to see why they're not importing the Manga over here. xD Tricks like the one Sapphire just pulled would probably be deemed harmful for the vulnerable minds of the children. xD

IC:

As Rai proceeded to walk past the last cluster of pipelines, Kaika's fear had reached the point where he chose to hide behind the boy alltogether, staying so close that Rai had to be careful so at to keep his feet from striking the little fox while he walked. Most of his friends seemed to be there, Rai noted, although Zachary seemed to be lagging behind a bit, and if that blood-curling scream of his was anything to go by then Rai was pretty confident that the boy had managed to burn himself, hardly a hard thing to do under the present circumstances. He briefly shut his eyes and took a deep breath, attempting to rubb out these thoughts from his mind so as to keep them from disrupting his focus in the battle to come. He was at an awkward enough position with the types as it was and certainly didn't need to give his opponent another advantage.

Looking up, Rai noticed that he finally seemed to have arrived as the walkway, which had narrowed down to the point where there was just barely enough room for two people to walk side by side, suddenly split into three paths, two of them fairly wide which led straight to the left and right respectively, forming a shape similar to a hollowed-out square with four rows of wooden spectator seats towering up on both sides. The central path, however, continued even slightly narrower than the one they had been following thus far, soon turning into a small staircase that connected with a square platform below, a dusty grey in colour, except for a thin lining of slate grey on the edges, with the standard pokeball symbol present in all official arenas drawn out across the center in a quite strikingly white colour. What precisely filled the bottom of the empty space between the arena and the seats wasn't visible from where Rai was standing, but whatever it was, he was quite certain that it wouldn't be beneficial for them. The arena itself was empty at the moment, but on the other end of the nicely symmetrical battleground, standing at the top of his respective staircase, stood a boy who looked like he was in his late teens, about the same age as Valen had been, although not quite as intimidating to watch. This one had hair of a very dark shade of red, which stood up a bit here and there in messy spikes, and he seemed to be dressed in...a sweater? Rai frowned, peering a bit closer at the boy. Yes, it was definitely a sweater he was wearing. It was a brownish red in colour, with a rather thick-looking turtleneck and long sleeves. Accompanying that, the boy was also wearing a pair of baggy jeans, also of a distinctly dark shade, which completely obscured whatever footwear he had on. Despite this attire the boy looked completely unbothered by the heat that prevailed within the building, merely giving the entering trainers a cocky glance, his light green eyes observing the visible pokémon intently and clearly sizing them up, although Kaika was still pulling off his hiding routine quite successfully.

"That many of ya'?" the leader called out to them, his tone betraying a slight measure of surprise as he took a few steps closer, "Now there's a twist. Usually the riff-raff take care of each other on the way, but I suppose you must have been somewhat more resourceful. Well, no matter." he concluded, suddenly leaping forward and landing on his side of the battlefield in a semi-graceful manner, his left hand immediately darting beneath his sweater and returning with a pokéball which the leader held in front of himself with a thoughtfull expression for a moment before turning his attention back to the group.

"Railey's the name, and I'm the leader of this joint. But let's cut the small talk, I really have no patience for that. Who's first?"

Last edited:
If Kayley was bothered by anything in the building, she wasn't showing it, probably because fatigue from the climb was still clouding her fear. No, she seemed perfectly alright, a look of determination on her face, although it wasn't very fierce. Fishy was still a few steps behind her, and Kinaki a few steps behind Fishy. The Mudkip seemed to be looking around for more water, if only to give himself more confidence. Eh, it didn't really matter. If he didn't have any bodies of water at his disposal, he could always just find a different way to confuse the opponent.

Kinaki seemed to have become a lot more quiet. Now that the bubbles were gone, her full attention was on how hot it was. Her Steel-ness was now officially hating the temperature, and every so often the Mawile would mutter something under her breath about fire.

When Railey first came into view, Kayley didn't really know what to say. She didn't think it was odd that he was wearing a sweater.. after all, she too was wearing a sweater. Come to think of it, why hadn't she taken it off yet? It was getting rather hot, wasn't it? Well, never mind, the guy was asking for someone to step forward and be first to challenge him. Something about cutting to the chase.

I should just get it over with.. Then maybe I can take off my sweater. Kayley thought to herself, her expression remaining calm for the most part.

"I'll go first." She stated, stepping forward as if to physically signify it. Fishy took the hint, stepping forward in the same manner. Kinaki merely complained about something under her breath yet again.

OOC:

Kayley's tolerance for heat in her sweater reminds me of myself.. xD

Last edited:
OOC: He-hee, there's actually a completely valid reason for the gym leader not to be taking the heat as badly as everyone else, by the way. It's an old heat principle which was used by a certain individual (I don't believe I've ever heard his name mentioned) who earned himself the reputation of the greatest heat-taker because he always took his challenges (Two dudes sitting in a sauna and the last one out winns) while wearing full winter clothes. You see, the trick for enduring extreme heat is a thin layer of isolating air (Always about body temperature) which every person projects around him/herself, any larger amount of motion disrupts it, however, which is why trying to rush out of a sauna when it starts to feel unbearable is not a good idea and another person's (Or even your own) breath can actually cause burns to skin if the temperature is high enough. Anyways, each layer of clothes you add adds an additional layer of isolating air inbetween the clothes (Provided that you've got them all on before you go in and wear them loose enough), so technically, if either person took their sweater off, the heat would actually get worse for them. Now there's a mouthfull, eh? xD Although of course this doesn't work outdoors because there is nearly always wind to disrupt the isolating air and because sunrays go straight through it and cause heat anyway.

IC:

So that's Railey, eh? Rai thought for himself as the boy introduced himself, Well he really does seem to be a fool boy, dressing like that in this kind of heat. the boy took a step closer to the railing so as to get a better view of Kayley's battle while Kaika still held himself very close to his feet, shuddering so badly that Rai could feel it without even looking. The boy's expression hardened a bit, whatever that Railey person had done to Kaika it had certainly left its mark. Well, it would be wrong to disrupt Kayley's battle with this. he concluded, I'll deal with the issue when it's my turn. he cast another glance at the battlefield, now spotting what filled the chasm; it was stones, all black and dark shades of grey, piled up across the whole bottom, they're dark colouring creating the illusion that the hole was actually a good deal deeper than it really was when viewed from afar. The boy looked slightly puzzled by this, what good were stones to fire pokemon? That would have been something that he'd expected from a rock or ground gym.

"Well get over here, then." Railey said, jerking his head in the direction of Kayley's side of the battlefield, you can't really fight from there, can ya'?" he cast an appraising glance at Fishy before a mischievous expression briefly flashed across his face for reasons that completely eluded Rai.

"It's a two-on-two fight to the finish." the leader stated, "If you withdraw then you can't use that pokemon again, and no use of healing items is allowed. Any questions?"

OOC: Incidentally, has anyone of you figured out the trick with Railey's arena? It seems pretty obvious to me, but I don't know about the rest of ya'.

{ooc| Is it.... A SAUNA? okay, I'm stupid, I'm sorry...
You certainly know a lot abuout saunas. When we and my friend went to a holiday park, we used the sauna and it was...interesting, to say the least. We spent most of the time flicking bits of paper onto the hot coals.
I feel reeeeeally ill.... I think I got what you guys got...}

Maxie frowned. "Surely you're not the gymleader?" she asked curiously. "You look way too young..." way too stupid, as well... she thought absent-mindedly. If her figure had allowed it Maxie would have stripped right down to her underwear by know; she had a low tolerance for heat, and already she was beginning to feel uncomfortably smothered.

She cast her gaze around the gym, her suspicion building. Weren't there normally rookie trainers hanging asround gyms, that you had to fight off before reaching the leader? Maxie shrugged to herself. Not that it mattered. Rai and Kayley were already preparing to fight.

OOc-

Bleh *random guess*
What...those rock thingys are...charcoals?XD
I know, I'm stupid too.^^;;
*said 'I love you' to everyone in her class[yes, including the boys] just because the talk on assembly was to be respectful and say one good thing to one's friend everyday*

Feebas, the looks I got.XD
I even tried it with my Maths Teacher.^^

Ic-

Jena tilted her head to one side, trying to get a better look at the boy. Maxie was right, he did seem a tad young to be a Gym Leader, of course, she had heard that there were younger ones. As long as they had the potential and capability of the position, the girl figured that they were given the job.

He seemed to have the same heat immunity Kayley posessed, sporting a sweater as well. True, the Coordinator was trained to withstand heat, but never to such an extent.

"Eh, good luck, Kayley!"she smiled slighty as Railey asked her to step up onto the battlefield, which were covered with these rock sort of things. They seemed like charcoals, but yeah, Jena was never one to be sure of herself.

OOC: Eh...nope, they're not charcoals. =P Charon's guess was right, it's the old sauna principle on a larger scale. And yeah, I do know a lot about saunas, did a ginormous History project on their development, ya' know. But I won't bore you with that. xD Anyways, you've been to a sauna you say? *Twitch* Ehh...if you got to have paper bits with you then I suppose it's fair to assume that you had them there towels, little thingies that you sit on, and whatnot? If you did then it wasn't a true sauna, and incidentally, you could end up in some serious pain if you did something like that with a finnish person around. For historical reasons, the sauna is still as sacred as a church to many finns, and what you and your friend did would be the equivalent of sacreliege. Yeah, we take our saunas seriously around here we do. Although I seriously doubt that any sauna you find in a holiday park fits the picture that I have of it, anyway.

Oh, and good on you, Yibber. That kind of reminds me of this one game we had to do a few years back during group-bonding class (Or whatever it was called xP); everyone sat down in a ring and then one had to get up and propose to another person from the ring using a specific phrase. If that person smiled even a little then he/she had to switch places with the one in the middle. Anyways, I ended up there too, so I decided to take the easy way out and dramatically proposed to a boy. Got the whole friggen' group laughing it did, all I had to do was to pick the nearest girl and repeat the process real quick. xD

Anyways, childish games aside...

IC:

Railey frowned a bit at Maxie's comment, "As a matter of fact, I am." he replied in a quite offended tone, "The old dude couldn't take the heat so I came and booted him out." he threw his head back, "But if you want to verify that then I'll be quite happy to trash you in battle too." a dangerous glint ignited in his eyes, "I took this gym by force and I intend to keep it in the same manner."

{D-don't questionings, please...} Kaika hurriedly whispered to Maxie, hoping that Fang would still be up for translating, {Him-him bes the old master and him really bes a big meanie gym leader.}

{ooc| Seriously? I never knew that! I'l be more respectfull in future!
It was basically a wooden box this hot coals underneath the wood...and of course we were wearing towels, you naughty boy! xDD Anyway, it wasn't a hotspring, it was a... hot box. It said sauna on the label though. That day we also quadbiked, went on lots of flumes, learnt to fence, and had a go on the climbing wall. My friend went on the zipwire, but I was too afraid. Come to Butlins, fun for all the family! [/advertising]

We also play a game like that, where you go: 'I love you honey bunny, but I just can't smile.' and you have to sa it in a stupid voice or something. anyway, then the person has to say it back, 'I love you honey bunny but I just can't smile either' - without laughing. t's a seriously fun game.}

Fang's ears pricked in sudden shock. He stared at Kaika for a moment, before turning to Maxie and whispering a furious translation in her ear.
"WHAT?" Maxie yelled fiercely.
{Shh, shh shh shh!} Fang hissed urgently, and covered Maxie's mouth with a wing. {Don't say anything, it'll-}
Maxie ignored him. She had really come to like Kaika; not only was he extremely cute, but he was also a kindly little pokemon, who put others before himself and all that. After all, he had helped her find Rai again after he wandered off. It seemed like weeks ago, but really it had only happened earlier that day; how peculiar how time lies!
Still, she couldn't bear the thought of him leaving the group and returning to his old master, no matter what rank of trainer he was. Kaika had been abandonned, which was a terrible thing to have to suffer through. Messy had been abandonned, and while Maxie could see why (the smell, the faffing, her greediness...) it was still a fate the pokemon did not deserve.

Maxie turned back to Railey, grinning maliciously. "I'll take you on any time, small fry. Maybe it'll teach you to treat your pokemon better!" she snapped. Fang joined in, screeching at an almost toe-curling pitch and beating his wings at an impossible rate. "Still... it's my friends you need to fight, they're here for a badge."
She exhaled through clenched teeth, and crouched down to talk to Kaika. "You didn't deserve what you got, Kaika..." she muttered to the fox, "I'll get him for what he did, you'll see..." she smiled sadly.

OOC:

Yibber..

My friend IRL does that.. EVERY DAY. It's her thing. She always tells everybody 'I love you', especially towards people who are angry with her. XD

Anyways, I just came back from my other friend's birthday party. We all went box-car racing. Plushie likes box-car racing. XD

Incidentally, does Railey plan on dumping water on the coals to make steam which will make his Pokemon more evasive 'cause they can see through it? I like steam. :3

IC:

"No questions, I understand." Kayley said softly, biting her lip as the Leader snapped at Maxie for her comments. Apparently this guy was easily offended.. Well, she couldn't really blame him. Anyone would get mad when their ability or authority was questioned. Still, something about this guy seemed a bit off..

As she pondered this, the Trainer completely missed what Maxie and Kaika were talking about, as if she could understand the fox anyways. Whoops, she'd better not keep the Leader waiting, as snappish as he was.

"Go, Hazy!" Kayley shouted, unclipping the Gastly's Great Ball from her belt and releasing the spirit in moments. The usual red light popped out, taking Hazy's shape as she materialized, her overly huge eyes taking in her new surroundings.

{Ah, I get to battle now! I shall prove myself, yes I--} The Gastly began, cutting herself off when she laid eyes on Railey. The boy seemed so familiar, as if she had met him before.. but not in a good way. Yes, familiarly evil, that was it. Hazy narrowed her eyes slightly, falling silent as she began floating over the battlefield. The heat wasn't really getting to her, of course, because she couldn't feel it as a spirit.

OOC: Yeah, seriously. You see, saunas have been used as a place for giving birth to children for many centuries in Finland, and the practice only dissapeared from the countryside for good in the early 1960s as I recall, so there are actually still living, healthy individuals who were born in those places. It's quite easy to imagine why they'd want some respect for the sauna, ne? Anyways, the fact that you had towels alone proves that it wasn't a truly genuine sauna (Because wearing clothes in one of those is a big no-no). The only approved possessions to be taken into a really orthdox sauna, excluding the stuff you need to use it, are beer cans or bottles and sausages (I think there is a restriction on what kind of sausges too). As traditionally, you only go to a sauna together with family or very close people (Usually of the same gender unless they're your parents/grandparents or you're quite far into a relationship with them) and making out in any way is strictly forbidden (Although you'd probably end up burning yourself if you tried). In the public places you're allowed to use swimsuit/towel if you want of course (Real enthusiaists don't, though =P), although there's one exception...an old orthodox sauna, somewhere in Helsinki as I recall, where no clothes at all are allowed, and get this; it's a unisex one. And you're calling me a naughty boy. xD Still, I'm thinking that there's not much space for hormones in the temperatures that those saunas are maintained with (75 degrees celsius or higher), unlike the common misconception that most people seem to have about them. Still, I suppose understanding that requires actual experience from one of em' really heated saunas.

Anyways, before I fill the whole page with my rant about this, that phrase is pretty similar to what we had to say too. Oh, and you had to get down on one knee in front of the person you were speaking to as well. Then it was all about funny expressions/accents/additions after the compulsory phrase. ^-^

But seriously, it's time for...

IC:

At Maxie's statement, Kaika's eyes widened with fear, {No...} he whispered quietly, {No tellings the old master that Kaika bes here, no...} the Vulpix let out a sigh in forfeit as the girl crouched down next to him, there was no way that Railey could fail at spotting him now.

"Big words, missy!" Railey growled, glaring furiously at Maxie, "Who the hell do you think you are coming into my gym and insulting me? How I train my pokémon is my bussiness, something which you bleedinghearts probably don't have the faintest clue about! And besides, what would you know about-" he paused, finally spotting Kaika who had been covering and trying to look as small as he could, a slight grin spreading across the gym leader's face.

"Vulpix?" he asked, taking a step forward.

Kaika let out a heavy sigh, {Y-yes...} he managed to utter at last.

"So you did make it here after all." the boy continued, nodding in approval, "You're stronger than I thought then."

Rai had remained diplomatically quiet this far, but at this last statement, he couldn't help feeling his temper building up. Stronger than I thought? he echoed furiously in his mind.

"Just a minute!" the boy cut in, an uncharacteristically furious expression spreading across his face, "Are you telling me that you left him in that forest on purpose?!"

{No...} Kaika repeated quietly, more for himself than anything else, {No fightings with each other, please...}

There were far too many tempers boiling in the room for such words to be acknowledged, however;

"As a matter of fact, I wasn't telling you anything, goldylocks." Railey snapped at Rai's comment, "Maybe you should have those dainty little ears of yours checked so you'll know when you're being adressed."

"Answer me!" Rai growled, by now completely oblivious to the heat, his pulse increasing rapidly, a soft pounding inside his head.

"I did." the gym leader replied nonchalantly, "He was weak and needed to learn how to survive on his own. Got a problem with that?"

"You've got that right!" Rai thundered in response, glaring furiously at the other boy, "Of all the cruel, irresponsible things I've ever heard about that is the most disgusting! How dare you call yourself a trainer?!"

"Oh spare me your self-righteous indignation." Railey said in a bored voice, "The Vulpix is fine, isn't it?"

"No thanks to you!" Rai retorted, "He could have died in that storm you reckless little-!"

"The real world isn't nice, oh prince charming." the gym leader replied mockingly, "Something which you'd know if you would ever go five feet away from your little fairy tale castle, the sooner people and pokémon learn to accept that the sooner they can start growing strong. Now enough of this yabber. Come on, Vulpix."

Kaika, who had been standing on his spot and trembling for the duration of the whole argument, let out a frightened yelp as he was adressed.

{C-comings?} he echoed, {But we-weren't you just sayings that Kaika was too weak?}

"Oh I don't think you're weak any longer." Railey stated, guessing the Vulpix's meaning through his body language, "Like I said, I just left you there to test you, and you passed the test." he reached his hand out to the Vulpix, "You can be a real part of the team now."

Kaika's eyes widened, {R-really?} he asked, {Kaika fightings the challenger peoples?}

"You could become truly powerfull." Railey continued, "The strongest even. Now what do you say...Vulpix?"

{I...} Kaika stuttered, his eyes darting back and forth between Railey and Rai.

"Don't listen to him Kaika." Rai said, giving the Vulpix a pleading look, "He's saying that now, but once a stronger pokémon comes along he won't give you another glance."

{I...}

"Don't listen to that fairy-puff priness and his drivle." Railey said, "You trust me, don't you Vulpix?"

"He doesn't care about you." Rai interjected, giving the boy a distasteful glance, "He just wants your power."

{You...} Kaika turned his attention to Railey now.

"Don't listen to that bleedingheart." the gym leader retorted, "He's just trying to get your power for himself. Come on...you know I'm the better trainer."

{You...} Kaika repeated, {You-you might bes bigger and stronger than Rai, but...} the Vulpix's eyes narrowed, {You bes mean! And-and...and Kaika no likings you anymore!} the last words flew out of Kaika's mouth with uncharacteristic volume and determination, the fox pokémon puffing up his little tails in the usual attempt at intimidation as he cast one last glare at Railey before trotting over to Rai and settling down by the boy's feet.

"You-" Railey fumed, his face ill-red as he glared at the boy, "You've turned Vulpix against me! Fine!" he growled at Kaika, "Stay with him then! Losers belong together!" he turned his attention to the battlefield, finally noticing that Kayley had sent out her Ghastly already, the ghost pokémon watching him with suspicion.

"I'll deal with you later, prettyboy." he scoffed at Rai, turning his attention to the battle again, and hurling the pokéball from his hand onto the arena.

"Houndour! I choose you!"

With an agitated series of yaps, the dog pokémon materialized on the ground, his eyes quickly darting across the battlefield before they settled on Hazy, a slightly sadistic grin spreading across the Houndour's face as he recognized a familiar opponent.

{And so we meet again...} the fire type said mockingly, his white teeth glinting in a treathening way.

"Houndour!" Railey called out, now becoming completely immersed in the battle, "Taunt and Will-O-Wisp! Now!"

The fire type immediately took up a mocking tone, sending out a spree of insults towards the Ghastly to prevent her from focusing on the battle before gathering up a small ball of fire in his mouth and launching it towards its target, a constant flickering motion occuring on the surface of the orb as it soared through the air, radiating an even greater heat around itself.

Me: Ah, I'll relax tonight, let's listen to The Cure and relax...
Computer: N0000, t00 m4NY PR0GR4M5!!! *spazzes and closes all windows - including english coursework*
Me: CURSES!

Yeah, I'm sort of...in a bad mood now. And my BF was meant to be coming over but I rang him and asked him not to, which must be a first for me o_o; I'm getting bad vibes about this relationship, which is really weird. It feels really... not normal. I dunno why I'm telling you this o_o; probably because Mika is offline. Normally she's the one that gets lumbered with the blow-by-blow accounts of my days... xD

Boys...don't...cryyy~! *sings* I would tell you, that I loved you, if I thought it'd make you stay....
I love The Cure. My friends hate them.}

Maxie hugged Fang closer, fearfull for Kaika. {Fight, Kaika, fight!} Fang whispered, almost in a prayer.
His trainer was watching catiously, her hands over her mouth. She hoped Rai would have the sense to fight - and fight well. After all, if the vulpix lost now, all his struggles would be for nothing; his pride would be crushed, she was certain of it.
"We're cheering for you, Kaika and Rai!" she muttered, just loud enough for her friends to hear.

Maxie's eyes narrowed. Fang, unable to sit still, broke into flight and began to circle.

OOC: Bad vibes? That's never a good sign in a relationship. You should be feeling good! ^^; Well, at any rate, I hope your mood gets better Charon, I was in a bad mood yesterday after some girl in Botany annoyed the crud out of me. I swear I hardly ever show anger towards people I barely know, but she pushed me over the edge. >=/ Bad moods are no fun.

*sighs* Guh... I'll need to hurry this up... librarians are kicking off people who aren't doing academic stuff. >.>

"You did that to Kaika?!" Zachary said, finally catching up with what was going on. If it was one thing Zachary hated most, it was people who mistreated their pokemon. Pokemon were not just mindless drones that did humans' bidding without feelings attached, they were people too, any idiot should be able to see that.

He was glad to see Rai getting so passionate about the little Vulpix's treatment; and Maxie too was getting in on it. He had picked, or stumbled upon, good people to become friends with. Not one of them looked like they liked what Railey had done with the Vulpix, and Zachary was glad to know such people.

Ron had fallen silent upon hearing Railey talk about pokemon being strong and tough. This was a good example of how his old master had spoken. The little Aron tried to not think about it, but to ignore what happened in the past was impossible, especially now with this incident with Kaika.

"I hope you cream him Kayley," Zachary said, trying to keep himself composed, "So that when Rai goes up against him, he can get creamed a second time." He had a sudden savage feeling to challenge the leader himself, but looking down at Ron and remembering the fact that he only had two pokemon pushed that out of his mind. He would have to enjoy watching someone else kick the guy's butt.

Ron looked at Kaika after the Vulpix had made up his mind and knew how hard it was to make that very decision. {Kaika... I know you made the right decision. You might not feel that way right now, but you will,} the steel type spoke, his mind in two different places at once.

Argh, couldn't post at all yesterday.. The whole day from the afternoon on was totally 100% thunder and lightning storms, and when I got home it really wasn't a good idea to log on to PC.

Lightning is cool and all, but yesterday was seriously intense. o.o;

Kayley looked like she couldn't believe what she was hearing. In fact, she really couldn't believe any of it. Kaika.. Throughout the time he had been with the group, the little fox had proven to be.. something else. He didn't deserve being abandoned like that. At all. Oh, so it was a 'test of his abilities'? That was no excuse! Caught up in her thoughts, Kayley almost didn't notice how Kaika was now rejecting Railey completely.

Hazy seemed to have the same expression, although for a different reason. She seemed to be remembering where she had seen this guy before..

However, before either Kayley or Hazy could do anything, attention had shifted back to the battle, and Railey had sent out a Houndour. The commands were issued quickly, barely giving Kayley enough time to get her emotions under control.

Hazy, having snapped back to attention, was now completely infuriated by the Houndour's taunts. If she weren't a spirit, she'd probably be popping a blood vessel by this point, as her eyes had widened even further than normal in fury.

{That is not true!} The Ghastly hissed, almost spitting venom. Her gaseous flames flared up, causing Kayley to inwardly sigh. Great, there went any chance of avoiding that Will-O-Wisp.. Unless..

"Hazy! Use Night Shade to blast Houndour into the Will-O-Wisp!" Kayley commanded, setting her trumpet case down on the ground beside her, before she dropped it from becoming too focused in the battle. Yeah, the Will-O-Wisp would do jack squat to that Houndour, but at least it would get canceled out.

Hazy grinned, wanting to teach the Fire-type a lesson, especially after that Taunt. Her ghostly body took on a blackish aura, initiating a Night Shade that would send the Houndour flying into his own attack.

Jena frowned at Railey, that boy was just..unbelievable. She clenched her fists at his words, though nothing came out of her mouth. She was never the type to express her own views, lest it get them into any deeper waters with this nasty gym leader.

Kaika had been abandoned, just because he seemed weak to him. The girl had seen these types of people before, they didn't care for their pokemon, they only wanted to be strong trainers and show off to others. Numerous people in the school were like there, the only reason they even came to join was because they wanted to use the strong pokemon Jendo had trained for their own use. That just gave the Coordinator a bad feeling, no pokemon deserved to be treated like that.

It seemed like Rai had the same idea, although he chose to express his views openly. The way he and Railey fought was just... Jena couldn't describe it. She could only stand at one side and watch, silently rooting for him with a grin on her face.

As they turned to Kayley's battle, so did she, noting the way their pokemon battled.

At this point, Railey had become so entranced by the battle that he didn't pay any heed to the angry stares and exclamations headed his way, merely staring unblinkingly at the battlefield and what occured there.

The Houndour let out a startled yelp as he suddenly found his feet promptly leaving the ground and his whole body turning an awkward sommersault in the air as a result of the Night Shade attack before it promptly plumeted back down, falling straight on the Will-O-Wisp which had been meant for Hazy.

The fire pokémon didn't look by any means incapacitated by the attack as he crawled back up however, if anything, he seemed to have gained power from the fire, his previous smirk returning.

"Flash Fire." Railey remarked matter-of-factly, his face bearing a smirk quite similar to his Houndour's, "Thanks for the boost, girlie. Houndour! Faint Attack and Flamethrower!"

The fire pokémon lunged forward, dissapearing in a flurry of motion just before he would have come into contact with Hazy, only to reappear right behind the Ghastly and unleash a full-fledged blast of fire from his mouth, straight at ghost-type's unprotected flank.

"Come on, Kayley...Hazy..." Rai muttered, subconsciously clenching his right hand into a fist, "Pull it together..." his friends just couldn't loose to this scum, they just couldn't!

Kaika looked up as Ron approached him, taking quite a long pause before replying to the Aron, {Kaika knowings...} he whispered back, doing his best to smile, {But somehow him was thinkings that maybe old master coulds be learnings his lesson...} the Vulpix gave a quiet sigh, {But Kaika guessings that's not about to be happenings any time soon.}

{ooc| I'm trying to find the fast version of the Monster Mash, but bearshare doesn't seem to have it. SCANDAL.

The Macarena will have to do... Haaaaaaaai! *does the macarana*
When I dance they call me macarena!
and the boys, they say that I'm buena
they all want me, they can't have me..
So they all come and dance beside me!

Hell, this song is a complete classic here in England...}

Maxie, too, began to pace, walking behind her zubat. Unlike her pokemon, though, her eyes never left the battle field; she had the terrible feeling this had got off to a bad start, what with the houndour's flash fire... If only she had battled, Fang would have poisoned the jumped up brat's pokemon in a millisecond and the battle would have been hers! Of course, it was Rai and Kayley that wanted a gym badge, not her - she was only tagging along to get her Sephy back, so these battles... meant nothing.
If only my heart was as sure as my mind.

She glanced sideways to Jena, determined to distract herself. "Let's hope our two can teach that boy a lesson, eh?" she told the girl, before turning back tot he battlefield.
"GO FOR IT, YOU TWO!" she yelled.

Now how did I know that Houndour was a Flash Fire Houndour and not an Early Bird? XD

*will find a way to make you regret that XD*

Hazy, grinning because she had gotten revenge for the Taunt, quickly switched her expression for one of utter surprise when she realized Railey's Houndour was behind her, backing away from the Fire-type as he moved out of the Faint Attack, ready to blast her with souped-up flames.

Kayley frowned at this. Great. Out of the two abilities that a Houndour could have, this one had to have been born with Flash Fire. She snapped out of her worries for a minute though, coming up with a temporary solution.

"Haze!" Kayley shouted, meaning the move and not another version of her Ghastly's name. Apparently that was understandable to the said Ghastly, because Hazy instantly began spewing out a frosty blast of air from her mouth. The fog quickly began to spread as soon as she had let out the attack, reducing Houndour's Flamethrower to it's normal fire power.

Well, the Ghastly had succeeded in reducing the Flamethrower to normal, but she was still forced to take the hit anyway, the Ghost-type flying a good bit backwards as the flames surged onto her. Letting out a brief cry in reaction, the Ghastly sought comfort from the Haze as she awaited more orders.

"Good, now Hypnosis!" Kayley shouted, her expression remaining a bit frustrated, knowing that she shouldn't have let Hazy take a hit in the first place.

The Ghastly was quick to respond, her eyes widening as she prepared for the attack, her lips curling back into an open smile as she prepared for a Hypnosis.

Gee...I dunno. Must be your sixth sense, I guess. xD

Anyways, I just made some progress in Emerald...mainly, Goro completely obliterated his competition in the Master rank cute contests! That's right y'all, my Hariyama is the eptiome of cuteness and has maximized not only cuteness but also coolness! And I've got two scarfs here to prove it too. Beat that! xD And Yibber...can you feel the treathening rumbles in the foundations of your positon as top co-ordinator of this lot? As soon as I find a suitable poke I'm going to sweep the cool contests too. I've already got the very best berry for cool pokéblocks and know where to get more so in your face! xD And I'm going to conquer the rest of the contests too, just you wait. And all the time I shall maintain functional battle movesets for them too. =P

And Macarena...gah, that song was all the rage here a few years back, and now it's started playing in my head again. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! BEGONE DEMON!!! >.<

Railey frowned as the Ghastly started out a Hypnosis attack, knowing that his Houndour had never been particularly good at fighting of sleep. The boy was not about to give up this easily, though.

"Come on, Houndour!" he called out, his scream briefly clearing what drowziness had entered the dog pokémon's expression, "Block it out with Smog!"

The fire type quickly obeyed, taking a deep breath before spewing out a cloud of thick, greyish green smoke at its opponent, which, although it hardly damaged the ghost and poison type, was enough to disrupt the eye-contact demanded for the Hypnosis attack.

Railey's expression turned slightly sadistic at this point, "Now Flamethrower! Go!"

The Houndour took a precautionary step back from the cloud before gathering up the fire in his mouth again, unleashing a powerful stream of flames at the cloud of volatile gases surrounding the ghost type.

Rai gasped in shock, poisonous gases were dangerous enough on their own, but they were also extremely prone to...

"Kayley!" he exclaimed, unable to keep quiet any longer, "When those gases ignite they're going to blow!" the boy bit his lip. He didn't know how a ghost type like Hazy was going to react to the blast as such, but he was pretty confident that the Ghastly would scorched by the sheer heat involved and he really didn't want to take any chances with a pokémon's safety, living or otherwise.
