everyones put Garchomp and Wynaut/Wobbuffet as non-legendary ubers, but what about shuckle? mines lvl 78 non hacked with 420 spc defand 382 def.. anyways just a thought

Whynaut and Wobbueffect were placed on uber due to another factor, not power, speed, nor defence.
Garchomp was placed due to being praticilly godlike in the OU game.
And I kinda find it hard to believe your Shuck;e is the powerful and not hacked.
What I am saying is, power is not the factor in being Uber, factors and strategies are.

Shuckle is not Uber because its movesets are predictable, rarely able to do much more than poison or remove items. Its HP also leaves it quite weak to set-damage moves, specifically Seismic Toss, as well as certain hard-hitters.

Took the words out of my mouth.
But to be honest, it would be a nice wall d:
Just realize this may belong in the General Pokemon Gaming forums >_< Sorry mods.

if u use power trick you can actually turn shuckle into a freaking amazing physical att plus it spc def is amazing

Except it then dies easily to physical attacks, and lacks the speed to use that new Attack in any sort of fashion.

its still a great wall like mentioned. but like all pkmon it has its flaws. i still think its a flipping amazing pkmon and i shoulda trained one before

    with a sandstorm it's s.def becomes godlike =)

oh yeah its flipping amazing. but lets hope it stays as a non uber. its like cheating..how fun

According to Bulbapedia, it has the capability to do more damage than any other pokemon in the game XD

However, it requires Power Trick, leaving it with no defenses and too slow a speed to get the jump on whatever is about to kill it.

On a Trick Room team, it can use Power Trick + Substitute to completely run over everything, but it isn't Uber material because it's setup fodder for virtually everything. In Ubers, Rayquaza will just dance and dance and dance, and then you're screwed. What can Shuckle do to counter it? Toxic won't work fast enough. Knock Off will only delay the inevitable, as will Rest.

well all i know is this has become a good discussion topic and im gonna try that trick room thing just too see how well it works cuz it seems like a great idea. plus aslong as its not uber its still usable

Its absurdly low HP balances out its awesome defenses to make it... pretty mediocre.

Taking only 50 HP damage from a Swellow's Toxic Orb-boosted Facade may be great, but when you only have 200 max HP, that's not so great.

Let's see 20 base hp isn't gonna help much even if you have a lot of defense and 10 attack and special defense is a bit useless. Don't forget about it's 5 base speed, so even if you miraculously survive a hit after using Power Trick, it would just be destroyed straight away thanks to it's slow speed.

Shuckle makes for an amazing wall, but that's all it's good for.

I haven't really followed competitive battling since the middle of the RSE era, but I'm certain that Shuckle wouldn't last long enough in uber to do anything. >_>

Power Trick Shuckle ewww. Didn't even OHKO my Donphan lol. Priority moves say hi. :)

Shuckle is pretty awful. It's a huge set up fodder for virtually everything. Toxic takes several turns to be useful. Defensive Shuckle is just asking for a set up and sweep.

Shuckle is just about as physically sturdy as Forretress, with a 6% lead in specially sturdiness on Cresselia.

    It's not even OU material.

As a Shuckle user, all of its flaws have been stated. As it is also slow as hell, the only possible way you can pull off Power Trick & physical Move is in a Double match with Trick Room being used same turn. Then the strategy works, until priority moves are used. Then you are pretty much beat. Shuckle isn't used too much anyway, and to be honest, I can see why.

I trained one in diamond and just used him as a wall just to annoy my friends since I am not that into competitive battling i just like noobing it out with my friends

Shuckle can be used to some degree of success in UU but even in the lowest tiers Shuckle's terrible HP spoil its defenses... which are suppose to make up for a limited movepool and no offensive options whatsoever. Even its most viable sets are filled with filler moves... Toxic, Knock Off, Rest, etc.

And Power Trick + Trick Room + Substitute doesn't even work in UU. 3 turns to set up? (Send Shuckle out after TR, sub, then PT) There's a pretty considerable list of things that can break the sub while Shuckle is power tricking and then send the shelled worm flying with a single priority move. More importantly, this only leaves Shuckle with 2 attacking moves. Great, Stone Edge + Earthquake. There are things that, y'know, aren't weak to either of those.
