How good is the move Giga Drain? I was thinking of replacing that for my Plume over Energy Ball.

Well, It needs a good form of recovery. I can't use Leech Seed, since that requires a trip to Manhattan. Problem is, does it do enough damage to warrent usage? Of course, jerks like Tenta can halter it some.
No.It is inferior to Energy Ball.I would prefer Rest-Talk but I think that would earn me the title of noob.Only 60 BP without STAB,even then,it's max is 90.Most likely the HP you'll get is low since I doubt your Vileplume was invested in Spec.Attack and runs +Spec.Attack nature and therefore, does low damage.Energy Ball is actually stable enough to use and Tentacruel can't interfere.I'd say run Rest-Talk,if you can.

I'll need more than that. First, you need to know more on Plume himself. He has respectable Sp.ATK, and Rest-Talk is worthless on it. He would benifit from a healing move.

EDIT:And don't downplay Giga Drain. Even Tentacruel uses it at times, as a self healing move.

I would suggest Aromatherapy over Giga Drain, just to help your other pokemon.Synthesis would've been good,if weather wasn't that common.

That doesn't answer my question at all. It doesn't provide him with healing, and Syntesis is useless for the time being.

Since I am getting shabby help, I guess I need to post my set. I can't believe it.

Vileplume@Black Sludge
Nature:Calm
Aromatherapy
Energy Ball
Hidden Power [ICE]
Sleep Powder

I am set on everything else. I just need to know whether Giga Drain over Energy Ball, and you aren't providing a good enough reason. I know much on Plume as it is, and you aren't telling me anything new on it. I just need to know if it's a better choice, but you aren't providing enough reasoning.

Saying Giga Drain is bad is moot, because even Tentacruel uses it at times for healing, and Swanpert countering.

EDIT:Oh, my bad, lala, didn't mean to be so blunt.

Judging from your moveset,I change my mind and say go with Giga Drain. It wants as much recovery as possible for this defensive one.

Nah, I would keep Energy Ball since you're using this in OUs. Plume will want to make up for its lower base stats with harder-hitting moves. Giga Drain is weak enough that it really doesn't provide GOOD recovery...it's kinda like using Moonlight Cresselia on a team with Tyranitar.

I would just give it Wish support or even Leech Seed. Leech Seed saps health pretty quickly.

Your situation reminds me of my situation with Tentacruel. With Tenta, it gets beaten down quickly. Jir's Wish support helps a lot, so there.

If you don't want other pokemon involved, Leech Seed is your best bet. HP Ice can dwal with opposing grassers at least moderately well, so meh.

What did I say eariler?

Second, it has impressive base stats all around. 100 base Sp.Atk for one. As for the rest, nothing under base 80. Except base 75 HP (which is pretty good) and lousy speed.

Wish support sounds like a plan.

It doesn't look like Vileplume is EVed much in SAtk though based on my SDefively lousy Tentacruel walling it.

Wish support should work...just be sure the wisher doesn't...you know...suck. lol *looks at Xatu*

Well, I just tested Energy Ball & Giga Drain. These were the results:

Against Hippowdon, Energy Ball was 64% (max). Giga Drain…
Petals used Giga Drain.
It's super effective!
Hippowdon lost 50% of its health.
Petals absorbed health!
Petals restored 30% of its health.
Hippowdon used Slack Off.
Hippowdon restored 50% of its health.

However, I usually got this with GD…

Petals used Giga Drain.
It's super effective!
Hippowdon lost 48% of its health.
Petals absorbed health!
Petals restored 28% of its health.

Against Swampert, Energy Ball was an OHKO, while this was Giga Drain's results
Petals used Giga Drain.
It's super effective!
Swampert lost 83% of its health.
Petals absorbed health!
Petals restored 47% of its health.

Against Steelix, Energy Ball was 34%. Giga Drain…
Petals used Giga Drain.
Steelix lost 25% of its health.
Petals absorbed health!
Petals restored 13% of its health.
Steelix used Earthquake

So, Energy Ball is still better, right? I mean, Energy Clearly outdamages Giga, but still...

As you noticed, the most recovery you got was 47%, and that's from Swampert who is 4x weak to grass moves...so yeah, Energy Ball. Wish support should suffice.

If it didn't, then it'd be called Poison Orb, which would be the supreme superior to Flame Orb since it doesn't cause an attack drop.

In short terms, yes. It has Toxic effect.

ya i have a question
is metagross a good physical sweeper
and is milotic a good special sweeper to go with it?

Metagross is a fairly good OU physical sweeper and Milotic is actually more of a special wall as opposed to a special sweeper.

whats a special wall?
and is my metagross's stats good? no one is answering me on the threads:

Metagross lvl 100 ev trained
adamant clear body, @ i dont now a good item
hp: 321
atk: 387
def: 290
sp.atk: 198
sp.def: 209
speed: 179
Moveset:
meteor mash
earthquake
???
???

Well, if it was a standard ev'd Metagross(104 HP, 252 Attk, 152 DEF) , then it's defense stat is like 40 points lower than what it should be.

no i didnt use that ev method
i used a different one
i didnt want to waste a move on agility so i gave some defense evs to the speed

Agility is hardly a wasted move slot, it's excelent on it.

do u think i should retrain it
cuz i have another one lvl 90 with no ev's cuz i cloned my other one
should i train it like that??
cuz i want the best adamant metagross possible : D
