To tell u da truth I miss any pkmn thats given away, im not against it but me personally, if I was a fictional character in the show and I caught, trained, and had a pkmn partner for some time, it would never cross my mind to either trade, give away, or set free my pkmn.

    I would feel awful.

Yesterday on youtube I saw a video on pokemon that ash had given away, set free, etc

Buterfree ( 1st pkmn caught, was really strong, would have been stronger), Primeape ( apowerhouse, pure fightin type), Pidgeot (even though he had him for like an episode was amazingly fast as a Pidgeotto and evn stronger as a Pidgeot), Lapras (she got him though the orange league, defeated that gengar in pamelo stadium, it was majestic and youg and powerful), Beedrill (dont care much for Beedrill cause it was his for like a minute), Aipom ( he was a lil powerhouse, never gave up and was pretty strong for a lil pkmn, then it evolved and attacket twice).

Like the video said I would love to see a pkmn season where there are no gyms just an adventure like in the orre or Almia regions where Ash is just traveling like a Brattle Frontier, you know waht forget it, there needs to be gyms and battle frontier or else its not Ash. point taken he does like every adventure he goes and leaves all his Pokemon and takes Pikachu. little by little he reunited with his pkmn. its would make for a killer season, I dont care if he leaves them with Prof. Oak. as long as they are his pkmn again I'll be happy, ohhh yeah and Charizard finish training and come back he never officially left but he needs to come back too and get taller (hes kind of small for a Charizard).

A well balanced team : Pikachu, Butterfree, Primeape, Pidgeot, Lapras, Aipom ( ohh crap my bad Ambipom)

Electric, steel, grass, bug, fighting, flying, water, ice, normal. these attcks are covered I would say its an ok team, not the best team he could have but still an ok one to kick but with.

If im missing any othe pkmn that were set free, given away, or traded please let me know.

P.S. lookin for pkmn friends too hahaha.

^ Enabling Caps-Lock while typing a post is not cool, it only looks like your screaming.

Yes you are right Unown_ but instead of just saying that you could do either of these things,

    ~Change it out of caps

Rican, I don't get what you're trying to achieve from this thread..

    Caps.....
[PokeCommunity.com] Since we're on topic about missing Pokemon

Also. You can't change what Pokemon come and go. That is the writers' job. If they go from Ash's team. Too bad. Next Pokemon Please. The End.

    You mean re-type everything, right?

Find out the Pokémon that Satoshi released, traded, etc. Thus the list at the bottom and this.
IF IM MISSING ANY OTHE PKMN THAT WERE SET FREE, GIVEN AWAY, OR TRADED PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Since you're counting Lapras, you can make a case for Larvitar and Haunter. Squirtle since you're counting Pidgeot as well. He had a Raticate for a while too.

my bad i didnt know caps was wrong, and yes squirtle, haunter, and raticate, larvitar do count.

just trying to start some new conversation about the tv series and pokemon that come and go.

I'm in a generous mood, at the moment, so let the people decide.

So, should I undo the CAPSLOCK of Rage and continue or lock the thread, because of redundancy, or something?

Lock this thread? Cuz this thread is pretty much pointless...

I agree with Azumi. He can always check Bulbapedia or another Pokémon informative site, so there's no point to this thread. For a full list of his Pokémon, see here.

Actually, this guy does make a discussion which (unfortunately) I understood.

Is it fair for a trainer to actually release Pokemon?

If I understood wrong. Then the heck with it. Close it.

RicanPKMN87 made a valid point to start a discussion: would anyone be against set free/trading/give away Pokemon? So locking the thread would not be needed.

Back on topic: for me, it depends on the reason of releasing the Pokemon.
Ash has set Pokemon free, so has Paul.

Ash has set Pokemon free for the good of the Pokemon or let the Pokemon in question make the decision.
Shinji/Paul on the other hand, release/trade Pokemon when he is not pleased with the Pokemon's performance.

I don't mind Ash releasing Pokemon, but I do have issues with Paul's reason (being weak) for releasing his Pokemon.

Yeah, i agree. Ash did release his pokemon for GOOD reasons. Primeape wanted to stay back to get stronger, Squirtle stayed to help his old friends. Charizard went with i believe his girlfriend now? to get stronger. Butterfree found a mate and went off with him/her. Thats all i remember off the top of my head he released. He had valid reasons.

I cannot comment on Paul because i'm only on season 6 of pokemon right now.

Could you or someone change the title so it's not in capital letters, please? It's kind of annoying, really.

Well, if that's the case, then I suppose I can keep up a discussion about this. If think the decision to release a Pokémon is purely up to the trainer. Personally, as harsh as it may seem, I have to disagree with Ash's methods and agree with Shinji's. I never really keep weak Pokémon.

Ash releases his Pokémon to mate, protect other Pokémon, and a whole crap load of other reasons. Now, I agree with that to an extent, but what I don't agree with is releasing the strong Pokémon. Where are Pidgeot and Charizard? Obviously not on Ash's team. That was a very bad decision on Ash's part. He's too soft, in my opinion.

But I know this is getting a bit tl;dl, so I'll conclude it: It's up to the trainer and no one should judge it.

Arrgh...I'm conflicted with this one... It's not fair to release weak Pokemon (for example, releasing a Pokemon with 0 IVs in all stats and a disadvantageous nature/ability as opposed to a Pokemon with perfect IVs in all stats and an advantageous nature/ability). If everyone followed this philosophy of releasing unliked, weak Pokemon, such Pokemon would have no shot of winning battles, letting alone being loved by a caring Trainer/Breeder/Coordinator, etc.

While I used to follow the fair philosophy of "training whatever Pokemon I catch/obtain first" back when I was bereft of knowledge of IVs, EVs, natures, etc., I'll admit that I no longer follow this philosophy. I selectively catch and train Pokemon that I know will give me the edge/can hold their own weight decently in a battle (possibly a competitive one).
In any case, I commend all people who nurture whatever Pokemon you catch/obtain first, rather than selectively catching Pokemon based on strength, looks, etc.

Relating to the anime, so as not to stray off-topic too much, Ash (as well as other Trainers) should not be releasing Pokemon so often. I mean, for Pokemon being with their family/being benefitted, that's OK, I guess. But, if I recall correctly, that's the exact situation of most of the anime's released Pokemon. Aside from Paul's Pokrmon, released Pokemon usually go join family, friends, or a team. I wish the writers didn't force so many Pokemon releases. If the anime's quality actually improved in certain areas :cer_nod:, we wouldn't have to have so many tearful good-byes on-screen. (I'm getting emotional over pieces of data/fictional creatures...whoa. :cer_cry:) There'd also be more interest in the anime (and the games, in turn, as well as the whole Pokemon franchise, possibly) so new-gen Pokemon anime appearances are not used solely for advertising the games.

As for Paul, I think he should learn that sometimes you just have to go with what you catch to promote fairness in the world. What if his parents "released" him because they wanted a girl? How would he feel? Well, they didn't. Whether Paul's parents originally wanted a girl or not, they still cared for Paul as their own son, presumably.

Heck, even Ash has an example. EP001. Ash didn't get any of his first 3 choices, but, with his firm resolve to become a Pokemon Trainer (and later, a Pokemon Master...maybe), he took what he got first, which was Pikachu. He didn't go wait for a Squirtle. He just set out with what he was able to get. And Ash and his Pikachu have made quite a pair/team (as well as a strong bond) throughout all of their adventures together (and separate, at times).

Anyway, releasing Pokemon is not totally fair, and should only be permitted during familial circumstances/for the Pokemon's benefit. However, "familial circumstances/Pokemon benefit" should not be used as a constant excuse in the anime to release Pokemon, just to (excessively/unnecessarily) showcase new-Gen. ones in people's parties (I know they're needed for some advertisements to promote the new games). Lastly, when dealing with a specific Pokemon species, which one you catch should be random, so none are eliminated from the selection pool and all have an equal (albeit chanced) opportunity of being loved, cared for, and trained by people. (I know [S-HIGHLIGHT] I should heed my own advice![/S-HIGHLIGHT] :P [S-HIGHLIGHT]But [competitive] Pokemon battling is a whole different scene from "training/battling Pokemon for 'fun'..."[/S-HIGHLIGHT])
(And this is EXACTLY why I'm conflicted with deciding whether to promote fairness with Pokemon/fewer odds of winning vs. improving my odds of winning battles/unfair selection! Arrgh! @_@
*heads to other threads/hot springs to relax mind*)

i agree, now can anyone imagine if ash had not released any pkmns, for ex. during his first league (indigo platuea) with a supped up butterfree and a strong primeape to replace charizard seeing it wasnt do wat ash wanted to in battles, reason he lost in the league. pikachu, bulbasaur, squirtle, pidgeotto, primeape, kingler, butterfree, muk, u know im not saying he would have won but he would have done better then top 16, maybe top 8 or even 4 like in the other leagues. gettin back on trax a lot of thing can change from not trading or releasing a pkmn. a pkmn (in the anime) your connecter to or close too is better then just having a strong or weak pkmn because yout know what its capable of and how far u and it can go. and train it from there.

sorry to have caused any commotion.
