While the girl with the broken arm was talking to Lesley, the nurse fumbled around in the medicine cabinet. She eventually found some of the same serum she used to heal Lesley's wound.
"Okay Jen," the nurse muttered as she approached the two girls, "I'm going to unbandage your arm for a brief moment, so that I can clean up the wound there..."
The nurse was proceeding to do this, when a scream issued from another room in the hospital.
"Whoa!" cried the nurse. "That almost made me jump..."
"Good thing you weren't holding Jen's arm when it happened," Lesley remarked.
After the scream, Lividus told Taylor and Lesley to come into the room where that scream came from. Immediately Lesley followed the tactics instructor into the room.

As Lesley, Taylor, and their Pokemon followed, they noticed that Lividus was heading into a hallway, just behind the hospital rooms they had been in. This hallway led past a few storage rooms and restrooms and eventually led to another wing, where more patients were tended to. But Lividus didn't go very far down this hallway; he stopped before a nearby door labeled "Janitor Closet". This apparently led to a room which was right behind some of the hospital rooms, hence why the scream was clearly audible.
"Are you sure the scream came from in there?" Taylor asked him. "That's not even a hosp..."
A look from Lividus told him that it was better if he remained quiet.
"What's going on?" a nurse passing by asked them. She was pushing a patient on a stretcher into another room. Taylor and Lesley answered with a shrug.
"We're about to find out," Lesley answered. Then she turned to Lividus, who had just discovered that the door was locked.

"Oh, allow me..." Lesley offered, as she took out her dagger. She inserted this dagger into the lock on the door, hoping to pick it. As she did so, she heard muffled sounds of fighting issuing from inside the room.
This sounds suspicious... she thought.
After a few seconds, the door opened. Inside was an ordinary-looking closet, but what was peculiar about it was its occupants. A nurse was inside, but she had ropes tied around her waist, binding her arms to her sides, and she had a tiny cut just below her neck. Another woman, who looked like an ordinary townsperson, leaned against a nearby wall, and had apparently just knocked over a mop. She also had a knife in her hand. This woman rebounded off the wall and was just about to approach the nurse when she spotted Lividus, Lesley, and Taylor in the doorway, and Lacertis' head behind them.
"Oh thank goodness, help me..." the nurse stammered.
The other woman, meanwhile, was looking a bit startled, and reached for something in a pouch on her hip... Taylor, meanwhile, held his hand slightly upward, ready to grab his kunai if need be...

While all this was going on, Lesley closed her eyes for a moment, crouching down a slight bit and focusing on her presence in the area. She opened her eyes again, looking at the floor. Making sure not to focus her gaze on anything in particular (especially not the woman with the knife), she crept between the two women (one being the nurse), standing up when she was behind the nurse, hidden by the darkness in the far corner of the room. Behind her, the window was open a slight bit. As Lesley stood up, she took out her dagger once again, proceeding to cut the nurse's ropes. As she did, she whispered something in her ear:
"Shh, don't say anything, okay?"

OOC: The nurse and the other woman will be NPC's as of now. I just thought this would make an interesting twist...

OOC: Nice Ninetales.

As Lividus looked at the woman with the knife, he quickly noticed that Lesley wasn't right by him. As he looked around, he noticed Lesley was trying to untie the nurse. He sighed with relief. Then he turned to the woman and started walking towards her, noticing that her clothing looked to be familiar. It then came to him that this woman was in a uniform he knew all to well.

"A Sinto assassin killing nurses who can't defend themselves? That's a crying shame," said Lividus as he turned around to Lacertis, who he released from his scroll a little while ago.

"Lacertis, get everybody out of the hospital now! If she really is an assassin from Sinto, she more than likely brought friends."

"Feral!" (Translation: Okay!) said Lacertis as he started running.

"Taylor, help Lacertis," said Lividus as he put his right hand on his sword handle.

"But Sensei," said Taylor before Lividus gave him a stare that would make the village elder scared. With that, Taylor ran in the same direction Lacertis went.

"Now then," said Lividus as he cleared his throat, "tell me how many of your fellow assassins are here. If you don't..."

After he said that, Lividus slowly withdrew his Souba from its sheath. He smiled when he saw the assassin getting goose bumps. He then took a quick glance towards Lesley's direction and was happy to see she had gotten the nurse free.

"You better tell me, or else your partners will not be able to recognize you when I'm done with you," said Lividus as he slid his right foot back. The assassin quickly looked towards the nurse she had taken hostage, but the assassin gulped when she saw that the nurse was free. "TELL ME!" shouted Lividus as he readied himself. This assassin was afraid, and a scared assassin is very dangerous.

After a minute or two, the assassin charged at Lividus, her knife primed to stab him. Unfortunately for her, when she was two feet away from him, Lividus grabbed her knife with his Souba. He then quickly turned his two bladed katana to disarm her. After that, he spun around and hit the assassin on the right shoulder with the blunt side of his weapon. The assassin, who was in excruciating pain, stumbled to the ground. She was no match for the former assassin.

"Stop! There are two others! One in the north wing and one outside on the roof," said the assassin as she held her left hand up to Lividus. Lividus then withdrew his Souba and started walking away. As he was walking away, the assassin took out a shuriken. This shuriken, however, was no normal Shuriken. The tips were a dark purple color, indicating that that the tips had poison on them.

"Die you Hoeto scum!" shouted the assassin as she threw the shuriken at blinding speed towards Lividus's back.

With speed no one could even comprehend with, Lividus turned around, took out his Souba, and sliced the shuriken into thirds. Using the speed from withdrawing his Souba, he ran to the assassin and bashed her head with the handle of his weapon, knocking her out cold.

"Coward," said Lividus as he withdrew his weapon once more and started running.

"The assassins must be stopped! I have to admit though. Attacking the hospital when everyone least expected it was clever," thought Lividus as he ran until he saw Lacertis carrying some patients outside.

"Lacertis, there are two other assassins. There is one in the north wing, and there should be one on the roof."

"Fe Ga! Ferali Fe Ga Gat Ferali Gatr!" (Translation: Oh no! Taylor is in the north wing!) shouted Lacertis as he quickly layed the patients gently on the ground.

"Then we need to get there now!"

Sighing, Kei couldn't help but be glad that Jin had left. The old guy was a bit strict for his tastes. And as the Umbreon following Jin roared, Kei couldn't help but let out a small chuckle as most everyone in the room had flinched at it, himself included. Sighing again, Kei looked down at the scroll he had received prior to the roar, "Kira Namaki, and Luke Sordar, hmm?", Kei said with a slight smirk on his face, realizing he didn't have a clue who these rookies were.

"Yeah, that'd be me. Luke Sordar" a voice came from the Expert's side. Looking over the owner of the voice, Kei was about to say something as he was interrupted by yet another voice,

"And Kira Namaki is here as well", Kei whipped around, being midly annoyed that he had been interrupted. Upon setting his gaze on the newcomer, he smiled briefly, before greeting his two rookies.

"Alright, so. Kira Namaki, and Luke Sordar, I'm your sensei, or senpai. Whatever you kids call it these days. But forget the formalities, just call me Kei", Kei announced, with a slight sweatdrop at the mention of "kids", Geez, I feel old around these kids...

"Right, Kei. Now why don't you tell us what our mission is", Luke said flatly. Kira merely nodded in agreement, while watching Kei closely. The rookies watched as Kei pulled a scroll from his pocket, and slowly unrolled it. Smacking his forehead, Kei sighed once again, "Really..."

Kei flipped the scroll around so Luke and Kira could see the contents. Luke immediately copied Kei's previous action, whilst Kira sighed softly.

"We get to do some lawnwork, isn't that great...", Kei grumbled, then promptly turned around, walking away while waving his hand in the air, signalling for the rookies to follow. Lawnwork. This is perfect, this must be payback for all the days I've napped in the grass or something. Hmph, wonder what Jazz got. Well, whatever he got, that Gardevoir of his is sure to keep him in line, heh. Raising a hand to his mouth, Kei emitted a loud whistle that lasted for a maximum of two seconds. As Kei turned around to look at his rookies again, he smirked as he watched their confused faces. A sharp cry stabbed at the ears of the unsuspecting rookies, followed by a gust of wind and Satsu slammed his talons into the ground in an impressive attempt at startling the rookies. The large bird sweatdropped as he noticed neither rookie had shown any signs of flinching.

"Luke, Kira, this is my partner, Satsu. He's a Pidgeot, and my best friend. And as a quick warning, don't mess with him, he doesn't like that too much. Anyways, I've got the scrolls containing your partners right here", Kei said, patting Satsu then promptly pulling two more scrolls from his pockets. "For Kira, you passed with a B+, good job, Bulbasaur goes to you. And Luke, you passed with an A+, aren't you special. Anyways, you got yourself a Gible, have fun now", Kei spoke quickly, holding out the scrolls to the respective rookies. Luke snatched the scroll immediately, while Kira opted to wait until Kei handed it to her.

"Kei, how do you work these things?", Kira asked politely.

"Honestly, I haven't got a clue, I never use one anyways, I prefer to keep Satsu in the open. I think he does too. Oh, looks like Luke got it figured out already, ask him Kira", Kei replied with a mild sweatdrop. Some role model I am, heh.

As Luke explained rather hurriedly to Kira how to work the scroll, Kei shifted his attention to the Gible. It was eyeing it's surroundings rather curiously. Obviously it hadn't gotten around too much, Probably just sat in the scroll until today, Kei noted. A flash indicated the summoning of Kira's partner the Bulbasaur.

"Alright, Gible. I've decided you will be Tetra from now on, good?", Luke told the small dragon. Tetra bowed her head, although a quick smile broke across her features for a half-second.

Kira was similarly coming up with a name for her Bulbasaur, although pondering intensely.
"Bulbasaur, you wanna be called Mimi? I think it's a nice name", Kira smiled gently at the small pokemon, who nodded slowly.

"Luke and Tetra...Kira and Mimi, me and Satsu. I think the team is complete, time to mow the lawn!", Kei proclaimmed, while Kira and Luke sweatdropped at the lame comment.

Just as Lesley finished untying the nurse, she saw that Lividus was fighting the other woman, who turned out to be an assassin from Sinto.
I knew it! she thought. I thought she looked suspicious...
Lesley also glimpsed Taylor and Lacertis heading further down the hallway, probably toward another hospital wing; they were instructed to protect the other patients in case there were other assassins.

Speaking of other assassins, after Lividus owned the fight with the assassin, the assassin said there were two others, one in the hospital wing Taylor was in, one on the roof. While this was going on, Lesley crept closer to the assassin, remaining out of sight of Lividus. After a few moments she saw the assassin take something out of the pouch on her hip: a shuriken, which Lividus sliced into three pieces. This would have been an amazing sight to Lesley had she seen it, but she resisted the temptation to look. Instead, while the assassin was still watching her shuriken being sliced apart, Lesley reached into that same pouch and slipped two shurikens identical to the one that had just been thrown. Refocusing on her aura and turning away from the assassin, she tiptoed out of the room, stooping down to pick up the assassin's dropped knife along the way.

Lesley headed cautiously down the hall, shooting occasional glances at the northern wing at the other end, where Taylor and one of the other assassins were. She couldn't hear any commotion from there, so all was probably well... That is, until she saw a small silhouette walking towards her... it was a Bagon.
"Oh, it's you, Helmer," Lesley whispered.
Behind Lesley, the conversation between Lividus and the assassin continued. She hid in a nearby empty room when she saw Lividus emerge from the closet, running in the direction his Feraligatr had gone.
He's probably gonna take care of that other assassin in the other wing, Lesley thought. That leaves the one on the roof...

Suddenly, an idea came to Lesley's mind. She didn't like the idea of fighting an assassin like Lividus just did (besides, she would mostly likely lose and die within ten seconds if she did), but she thought of something that might stop them... With that, she turned away from the north wing and headed outside. By that time, the sun was just a red speck on the horizon, resting above a canopy of trees in the distance. Lesley kept close to the walls of the building, so that the assassin on the roof couldn't see her, and she advised Helmer to be quiet. Then she began to walk around the perimeter of the hospital, searching for ways to climb up onto the roof... As she did, she took out a little bag and collected some pebbles in it.
I certainy hope this will work...

While Lesley was bending down to pick up another pebble, Helmer tugged at her trouser leg. Standing up and facing the wall, Lesley saw that the roof was solid and sturdy-looking in this spot. Also, there was a ladder lying on the ground. Taking care to make as little sound as possible, Lesley moved the ladder away from the wall, then raised it up a little bit. Using the hilt of her dagger, she bore two little holes in the ground a short distance away from where the roof ended, and she positioned the ladder so that its ends fit in the holes. To her relief the top end of the ladder just barely reached the roof without showing itself over the top. After putting the ladder in place, she paused for a moment, listening for any movements on the roof... but to her relief she heard none.
"Now for Phase Two," she whispered to Helmer.

Lesley and Helmer continued around the perimeter of the hospital, walking for another two minutes or so. By that time, Lesley reckoned they had walked about a fourth of the way around the hospital. They stopped at last next to a dumpster; Lesley squatted down to give whispered instructions to Helmer.
"All right Helmer, you know how to play hide and seek? I want you to wait here and count to fifty. Count quietly, though, and not too fast. Once you reach fifty, why don't you bang your head on this dumpster a few times?"
Helmer turned to face the dumpster, as if studying it. He seemed to like the idea of headbutting things.
"No, not yet," Lesley reminded him, "count to fifty first, remember?"
At that point, Lesley stood up and took a few steps backward. Then she mouthed "Now!" to the Bagon, who started whispering, "Bay, bay, bay..." (1, 2, 3...)

Satisfied with Helmer's counting tempo, Lesley took off, running back the way she came, keeping her footsteps quiet. Within less than a minute she reached the ladder she had set up earlier, and started to climb it, attentive to every little sound the ladder could make. Fortunately, the ladder was sturdy and did not creak. She climbed in this fashion until she remained crouched on one rung, keeping her head just below the roof.
Now to play the waiting game. Hopefully Helmer knows how to count.

Meanwhile, Taylor was talking to a group of nurses and patients in the north wing of the hospital, sounding rather displeased with himself.
"Er-hem, attention... everyone," Taylor announced. He then reduced his voice to more of a whisper. "Lividus has just ordered that we evacuate the hospital. There are Sinto assassins in..."
Immediately a bunch of nurses and patients gasped and chattered amongst themselves. Taylor sighed and shook his head.
"Isn't there an emergency exit around here or something?" he continued, sounding a bit annoyed.
"Over there..." a nurse answered, pointing to a door some distance behind Taylor. "But only a nurse can..."

Before the nurse could reply, a knife flew at her from out of nowhere and stabbed her in the side. Even more gasps of fear and chit-chatter erupted in the crowd. Fortunately for them, though, one brave nurse headed for the door and cracked it open. Seconds later, more knives flew at random nurses, and patients as well, though three out of four missed. Another flew right at Taylor, but he happened to draw out his kunai just in time, blocking the incoming knife with its wide blade. He then ran around to the side , dodging another knife the assassin threw at him.
"No boy can outmaneuver me," the assassin--a young man this time--taunted. He was dressed in a red kimono and black boots, and had three sword-like weapons of different sizes strapped on his back. His hair was a bright maroon in colour and was in a long ponytail. While the assassin said this taunt, Taylor sneaked in a stab with his kunai, but the assassin jumped back to block.
"No mere boy outspeeds Streak," the assassin taunted again, firing a low kick that made Taylor's right leg give way, and Taylor himself to fall onto one knee. Then he ducked just in time to avoid a swing of a blade. As he did so, he saw something big and blue in the doorway, and thought he glimpsed someone approaching him from that direction, just as quickly as this assassin moved. As if by instinct, he sprang up after that, backing up towards the door the nurse hd just opened...

"...Bay, bay, bay..." (47, 48, 49...) Then Helmer paused, looking a little confused. Lesley had been telling him to keep quiet for quite some time, so now why was she telling him to make a loud noise all of a sudden? Fortunately, though, this Bagon was neither Timid nor Careful in nature--he was Bold, Bold enough to have his need to headbutt things override any worries about it.

After a while of waiting, Lesley heard a noise like clanging metal some distance off to her right. This she knew to be the signal. As soon as she heard this, she raised her head above the roof, and sure enough, she saw the silhouette of a person standing up, looking in the direction of the sound. The person took out what looked to be a katana, and crept towards the edge of the roof... At the same time, Lesley climbed the remainder of the roof and noted the direction the assassin was in. She closed her eyes again, focusing once more, and then she crept along the roof herself, in the direction of the voice and hopefully the assassin. Her heart pounded all the while--even though she knew her trait was at work, she couldn't help but fear being sliced in half by the assassin's katana (or whatever the weapon was) or stabbed by a kunai. This continued until...

"GON!"
Helmer cried out when he saw a shape appearing over the roof, looming against the darkening sky. This was Lesley's grand opportunity--it was now or never. She threw one of the poisoned shuriken she had just stolen at the assassin, aiming for somewhere at the assassin's back... And then her moment of fear revealed itself. For a brief moment Lesley glimpsed the shuriken hitting the assassin, and she thought she heard the assassin cry out, but she had no time to find out for sure. In a panic, she turned around and jumped off the roof...

Lesley's fall was not as bad as she thought. She landed on something somewhat soft, but it was not grass or dust... and it made a grunting noise when she landed. Reaching out with her hand, she felt some sort of cloth... and then whatever it was moved beneath her, and she rolled off.
"Where in the world did you come from?"
Lesley recognised this voice as belonging to Taylor--sure enough, it was he who she had landed on.

For the next few moments, Taylor and Lesley explained what had just happened to them. Taylor sounded rather agitated when he spoke, and kept glancing at the doorway he had just come out of--but it had early closed by then, so he couldn't see what was going on inside the room. Lesley, on the other hand, sounded more apologetic, and kept glancing at the roof. She saw the top of what could have been the assassin from before, apparently motionless, from where she was standing.

Lividus vs. Streak

Lividus was glad Taylor, the rest of the patients, and the rest of the nurses were out of the north wing, for now he can really let loose.

As he stared at the male Sinto assassin, he knew that this was a great warrior by the red kimono he was wearing.

"Why are you here?" asked Lividus as he saw Lacertis come back into the building from helping the patients and nurses.

"Hmph. Why should I tell you?" asked the maroon-haired assassin as he smiled at Lividus. The assassin then walked towards Lividus slowly and pulled out a scroll.

"I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Streak," said the assassin as he opened the scroll.

"Gallade! Come out and face the Feraligatr!"

With the shout from the assassin, a tall green and white Pokemon came into existance. It then looked around and saw Lacertis, who was ready for a battle.

"Gallade!" shouted the Gallade as its elbows extended and its whole arms became sharp as a freshly sharpened blade.

Lividus was rather shocked to see such a rare Pokemon, but he soon got over it. He then turned his attention back to Streak.

"My name is Lividus Agito Amnis, and my partner is Lacertis," said Lividus as he took off his kimono. He then threw it to the side and put his hand on the handle of his Souba.

"Amnis!? HAH! You are part of that clan who betrayed Sinto twenty-five years ago!" said Streak as he took out two of his swords, which were just regular katanas. "I believe it was Sinto who betrayed us," said Lividus as he slid his right foot back. Lividus was waiting for Streak to make the first move, and he knew Lacertis was ready to take out the Gallade.

"Gallade! Slash that beast with darkness!" shouted Streak. That instant, Gallade arms became enveloped in dark energy as he charged for Lacertis. Streak then charged for Lividus, his swords ready to strike. "Lacertis! Freeze Gallade!" shouted Lividus as he took out his Souba and blocked Streak's attacks with blinding speed. "FERA GATR!" (Translation: Take this!) shouted Lacertis as he fired a beam of ice at Gallade. Since the Gallade was going so fast towards Lacertis, there was no way he could dodge it. The Gallade took the attack head on, but it didn't get frozen like Lividus had planned. "FERALIGATR!" (Translation: DAMMIT!) shouted Lacertis as Gallade got back up in a split-second. "Gallade, punch Lacertis with electricity!" shouted Streak as he continued slashing at Lividus, who was dodging and blocking all of Streak's attempts to kill him. Gallade then charged after Lacertis once more, but this time the Gallade's left fist started glowing. Then the fist went from glowing to being covered in electricity. After glancing over to Lacertis, Lividus was still blocking all of Streak's attacks. "This guy is good," thought Lividus as he continued blocking.

"But he isn't good enough to beat me."

"Soaring Dragon Attack!" shouted Lividus as he suddenly kneed Streak in the chin. Unfortunately for Streak and Gallade, this was also a comand to Lacertis, whose claws started glowing. Before Gallade could strike, Lacertis went after the Gallade at blinding speeds, striking his opponent unmercilessly. Lividus was now on the offense as well, as he grabbed Streak and threw him against the wall. Streak immediately got up and charged at Lividus again, his swords ready to finally kill his foe.

"DIE!" shouted Streak as he jumped into the air and started coming down at Lividus. Unfortunately for him, Lividus jumped to Streak's left. While he was going by Streak, Lividus took Streak's third katana from his waist and dodged Streak's attempt to finish this battle. When Lividus got back on the ground, he looked over to Lacertis, who had knocked out Gallade from his last attack. "LACERTIS! Water Dragon's Fury, now!" shouted Lividus as he ran to Lacertis. Lacertis then grabbed Lividus's left arm and started spinning around, gaining speed. He then let go of Lividus, who had his Souba and Streak's third katana to strike. Lacertis then shot a huge amount of water at Lividus, giving him even more speed. Lividus then turned his Souba and Streak's katana to where it would be the blunt side that would hit Streak. Lividus then crossed the two weapons into a x. "What the-" shouted Streak before Lividus's Souba and his own katana hit him in the chest. The speed of this attack then sent Lividus and the now unconscious Streak through the emergency exit door and to a huge tree outside, where the impact from the attack almost brought the tree down. Lividus then stepped down as threw Streak's unconscious body to the ground in front of him. He then wiped his Souba clean and put it back in its sheath as he threw Streak's katana into the same tree he slammed Streak into. Lividus then looked towards the once emergency exit for the hospital and saw Lacertis come out. Lividus then looked towards Lesley and Taylor.

"Where's the third?"

Lesley smirked and pointed to the roof. "On the edge of the roof somewhere that-a-ways. Hopefully I took care of him..."
Lesley's voice sounded a bit uncertain near the end--some strange feeling she never felt before welled up inside her. Fearing the assassin had somehow survived, she took off towards the dumpster Helmer had banged his head on. Taylor immediately followed, and Lividus as well.

"Bay gon!" Helmer greeted as Lesley approached. The Bagon pointed to something on the ground--as Lesley looked, there, glinting in the failing ruby-coloured sunlight, lying on a barren patch of ground, was a sword. Not a katana--a real sword of truly astounding design. It had a hilt made of pure emerald, and bore a peculiar crest consisting of a trio of stars. The blade bore several markings that looked almost hieroglyphic in nature, and looked to be newly sharpened. But to Lesley, this sword looked familiar...
It looks just like the sword Mara had! Lesley realised, remembering the student she fought against during her exam. Except the blade is narrower, and the hilt looks a little different.

Curious, Lesley picked the sword up--it felt about half as light as Mara's did. But when she stood up, she saw something else: the assassin was hanging over the edge of the roof! Immediately Lesley reacted, thrusting the sword up at him, resting its tip at his throat (just like she did with Mara, curiously).
"Lesley!"
Annoyed, Lesley glanced behind her--sure enough it was Taylor who had shouted at her. She thought she saw Lividus behind him as well.
"What?" Lesley barked.
At that point, a thud sounded behind her. Lesley bit her lip and turned around, only to find the assassin lying face-down on the floor. The shuriken, still stuck in his back, glistened in the sunlight just like the sword had.
"Whoa," Lesley muttered, pulling the shuriken out of the assassin's back and examining it, "that must have been a pretty strong poison. These assassins sure were well-equipped."
"You can say that again," Taylor commented, a hint of jealousy in his voice. "The one in the north wing had three katanas."

Lesley wiped the shuriken tip on the assassin's sleeve, removed the sheath for his sword, then stood up and looked at him. He did not move. From what Lesley could tell by the fading light of the sun, this assassin was dressed all in black, and even wore a mask.
He almost looks more like a robber than an assassin... Lesley thought. Especially now that he doesn't have his sword.
Speaking of the sword, Lesley resheathed it, and after some thought, held on to it as she walked back to Lividus.
"A student of the academy had a sword which looked very similar to this," Lesley said to him. "Mara Miyazuke. I wonder if she and this assassin are... related or something."
Lesley took another quick glance at the assassin, then back at Lividus. As she did so, a flame caught her eye...
"Char," Taylor's Charmader greeted. "Mander mander char."
"Bay? Bagon?" Helmer replied, walking towards him. He began to follow Charmander back to the hospital wing.

It was Taylor's turn to glance at the assassin. Then he spoke to Lesley.
"Thanks for ruining my fun."
"Oh come on," Lesley commented. "If you wanted a hand in this, you had another assassin waiting in the north wing."
This remark seemed to strike a nerve; Taylor got the idea that Lesley was trying to call him a coward.
"At least I didn't go off killing an assassin without sensei's permission," he retorted.
Lesley scowled. "Killing?"

With that she took another glance at the fallen assassin. Did the poison from the shuriken kill him?
Lesley started to grow nervous. But just as the thought started to occur to her, she distracted herself by turning back to Lividus, a sheepish expression playing across her face.
"Erm... so what do we do next?"

"Well," started Lividus as bent down to the assassin on the ground. He checked the assassin's pulse, and he shook his head in dismay.

"We can start by removing this dead body. Lesley, you did good, but you shouldn't have killed him. The poison on the shurikens was a very rare and potent poison that comes from a flower only grown on Sinto soil. Your Herbology class went over about that flower and poison two weeks before graduation."

Lividus then looked back and saw Lacertis carrying his white kimono. "Thanks friend," said Lividus as he took his kimono and put it back on.

"Gatr Raligat Fe," (Translation: Don't mention it,) said Lacertis as he looked at the dead body some feet in front of him. "Fer Ral Fe Fera?" (Translation: Did she do that?) asked Lacertis as he pointed at Lesley and then at the corpse.

"Yes she did," said Lividus as he picked up the corpse and put it on his right shoulder. "Taylor, you did really well. You did exactly what I asked you to do, even though you tried to argue with me. While you weren't successful, you still followed an order. That is essential in any mission," said Lividus as he turned to Lesley. "Lesley, you will make an excellent assassin one day. Your observation skills and stealth are amazing. You are also a good thief. While that is frowned upon in some areas, it is essential for some missions. However, when dealing with intruders like these guys, we cannot kill them. We must knock them out cold so the village elders can question them later. I will tell the Master Elder that you killed him, but judging by the way this guy is dressed, his mask, which is a symbol of high rank amoung Sinto assassins, and that sword he was carrying, this man was no doubt the leader for this mission. You should be proud. I will also inform the Master Elder about that that sword and its likeness to Maya's sword. Other than that though, I believe you should keep it. It looks light, and it would be a great weapon for you. Now then, I will take care of the body and the two unconscious ones." Lividus then turned to Helmer and Charmander. "You two did very well. Charmander, I saw you escort a really old man out of the hospital by yourself. You are the most caring Charmander I have ever met, and that will surely be helpful to you when you become stronger. Helmer, judging by the way Lesley sounded, you must have done an excellent job," said Lividus as he started walking away. Lacertis followed him. Lividus then turned back to Lesley and Taylor. "You may go home, but I want to see you both tonight when the moon is above the trees to the east. Be at my house, as we are going to have a small celebration and a training session. Tonight, you both are going to fight me. I expect you both to also connect with your Pokemon. Get to know them. Never let them leave your side."

With that said Lividus walked away, his trusty Feraligatr following him.

"Lacertis, get the unconscious bodies and take them to the prison. I am going to the Master Elder's house."

Lacertis nodded his head and went to get the unconscious ones. Lividus, wasting no time, started jumping from tree to tree. He was wanting to get to the Master Elder's house immediately. After several minutes of jumping, Lividus arrived at his destination. As Lividus walked into the large house, he saw the paintings of past Master Elders and their Pokemon. He then passed by a shrine dedicated to various ninjas who died for Hoeto. There were many paintings of the ninjas, and Lividus immediately spotted his former master's painting. "Master..." said Lividus as he continued walking. He finally got to the door of Master Kanaka's room and knocked on it.

"Come in," said Master Kanaka. With that Lividus opened the door and went inside. As he closed the door behind him, he heard one of Kanaka's messangers gasp at the dead body Lividus was carrying. "Master, the hospital was attacked by three Sinto assassins today. It was fortunate that my squad and I were assigned to helping the nurses. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened."

"My messanger here has already informed me of this," said Master Kanaka as he looked at the dead body Lividus was carrying. "Lividus," began Master Kanaka, "I must ask you something. Why are you bringing me a dead high-ranking Sinto assassin?" "Sir, this was the leader of the group that attacked the hospital. The other two are being taken to the prison so you and the other elders can question them later." "Ah, good job Lividus," said Master Kanaka as he gestured the messanger to leave. The messanger did so and left Master Kanaka and Lividus by themselves.

"Master Kanaka, it wasn't I who killed the leader. It was one of the rookies I'm training who killed him. Her name is Lesley, and I believe she killed him on accident," said Lividus as he put the body on the floor in front of Master Kanaka's desk. "Don't worry about it. She is rather lucky though. Not many rookies can say they have killed a high-ranking Sinto assassins and live to tell about it," said Master Kanaka as he took out a scroll from his desk. "This assassin also carried a sword that looked much like Mara Miyazuke's sword," said Lividus as he looked at the scroll Master Kanaka took out. It looked strangely familiar to him...

"Really? Hmm.... The other elders and I will look into this. Anyways, do you know what today is?" asked Master Kanaka as he unraveled the scroll. Lividus then remembered what today was. "Today is the day two years ago Master Ukis Gladius died in combat," said Lividus as he felt a tear come from his eye. "That's right," said Master Kanaka as he put his hand on the scroll.

"Honchkrow!"

Suddenly, a black bird that looked to be wearing a fedora hat came into existance. Lividus recognized this Pokemon immediately. "That's Master Ukis's Honchkrow. I thought he was released back into the wild," said Lividus with a shock. It had been two years since he last saw this Pokemon. "We were about to, but then we found Master Ukis's will," said Master Kanaka. "He wanted his Honchkrow to help the village in any way it can, and it has. It has helped us during many night missions, and it has done a number of search and rescue missions." "Honch!" shouted the Honchkrow as it extended a wing to Lividus. Lividus then shook the bird Pokemon's wing. "It is nice to see you again," said Lividus as he felt several tears come from his eyes. He then let go of the Pokemon's wing. This Pokemon saved him that night two years ago....

"I knew you would like to see him. Now then, I will inform you of a job or mission very soon," said Master Kanaka as he looked at Lividus. "You know, I haven't seen you like this since then." "I know. I have kept my feelings locked up about it," said Lividus as he stood up and wiped away his tears. Lividus then realized how much time had gone by. "Master Kanaka, I must go. I told Lesley and Taylor to be at my house soon."

Master Kanaka nodded his head, but before Lividus got through the door, he spoke. "I want you to do me a favor," he said. "Keep an extra eye on Taylor. You know his past. I feel that he will need a firm hand in his training." "Yes sir," said Lividus as he closed the door behind him.

Several minutes later...

Lividus got back to his house and went into the kitchen. He was surprised to see that Lacertis had already cooked a huge pot of stewed beef and vegetables. "Thank you Lacertis," said Lividus as he hung his kimono up. "Our guests should be arriving soon."

Lividus's Feraligatr grew to level...47

Matt watched as the man left. He put on his the gloves, grabbed the steel wool and walked towards the sink basin.

"Trapinch" It said suddenly, somewhat surprising Matt.

"Oh man, I almost forgot about you, I'm not used to having my own Pokémon you know," Matt replied. "Did you want to help? Though I'm not sure what you can do."

Trapinch seemed to answer this instead, looking at a lone bed pan that happened to be on the ground, it used Sand Attack on it.

Matt didn't know if his Trapinch was trying to place it back on the large pile, but it didn't work so well, as the result of the one bed pan had hit the stacked other ones, and soon it was raining bedpans. The metal clang, Matt though could probably be heard a mile away.

"Really...?" Matt said in a resigned voice. He looked around for the Trapinch and finally found it retreated behind a bunch of pipes. "I think it's probably best if you just watch."

Matt walking in and around the clutter was at least glad that these bed pans were dry, it would have been a lot worse if there were still contents in them.

Thus he began the process of cleaning each one. It wasn't easy either, had he not worn gloves, he figure his knuckles would be bleeding by now. While Matt was working, his Trapinch watched a few feet behind him, watching him persevere through this odd job. The Trapinch quickly became bored though and desired attention again.

"Trap!" It called, just when Matt had finished using the tap so it could yell over the resounding sounds the basement had made.

"Oh man, what now?" Matt asked, thinking more trouble was to come.

"Inch trapinch." It called jumping up and down now.

"I'm kind of busy you know, hmmm how about this?" Matt said, as he took a clean bed pan and placed it away from the other pans. "You can practice that Sand Storm of yours, and maybe someday you can rival the sandstorms I get back home."

The Trapinch looked altogether non-plussed. But figured he wouldn't get through to Matt.

Matt went back to his job, and not soon after, began hearing the familiar whirls and winds of a sandstorm. He regretted this however, because flecks of sand were now heading in his direction, not to mention his eyes. It was convenient however that Matt was done soon.

"Hey!" He called to his Pokémon.

The Trapinch, who was now attempting to levitate the pan heard Matt's voice and turned around, immediately letting the pan fall.

"Let me rewash that pan, then we could put these on that cart, and get out of here." Matt said.

The Trapinch brought it over; it seemed excited in the prospect of gaining attention.

Just as they finished however, the man came in again. "Where the hell have you guys been? It's 1:30, you've missed a lot of your break."

Disappointed, Matt decided to run to the break room, his Trapinch galloping behind him.

When he got there he saw a small meal prepared for him, and noticed Kasashi had already finished her own. She and her Chimchar were now bonding with each other.

"I was wondering where you were," She said. "How has your day been so far?"

"It was boring and gross." Matt said, exhausted from the run. He noticed some Pokémon food that had been waiting for his Trapinch, and pulled it in front of his Pokémon.

"Eat up; we don't have a lot of time." Matt said, now hardly wasting a second, and taking his chopsticks, eating as fast as he could.

"Woah slow down there." Kasashi said, Chimchar looking at Matt too, with a shocked expression.

Matt looked at his Trapinch, and saw that it wasn't eating fast. "Fnh," He said, spraying a bit of rice on the ground. "How was your day so far?" He finally asked in between a mouthful.

"It's been horrible, the first room I visited, the elderly lady there began telling me her life's story and I didn't want to leave out of disrespect. It wasn't until a nurse came in for her medication that I was able to go to 'help' at the next room. I don't mind people usually but when they talk about stuff for so long it get's annoying."

"I'd still think it would be better than cleaning those pans..." Matt said slowly, but he smiled, as he realised both of them were in the same boat.

"By the way, I was going to ask, why do you where that mask?" He asked.

"I knew you were gonna ask, and I don't feel like telling you right now." She responded.

"But-" He retorted.

"No, I said." She interrupted.

"Have you named your Pokémon yet? I think I'm just going to leave mine as Chimchar, he's pretty cool, he helped entertain some of the children in the hospital." She said, changing the subject.

"Oh, I haven't thought of one yet, but I would like to." Matt said, looking at his Trapinch, hundreds of names were popping up in his head, his imagination running wild with the possibilities. He had finally finished his meal.

When he got up, he seemed to have just realized how dirty his scrub shirt was. Not only from eating too fast, but from all the cleaning he had done. He walked over to what appeared to a pile of scrubs and rummaged through until he found a top. Of course it was still a large sized one, but he didn't want to look unclean. He pulled off the scrub top, almost uncaring of where he was. As he took off the old scrub however, he heard a gasp, he ignored it, and put the new scrub on.

"You- you're in league with the Emperor?" Kasashi said, quite shocked.

"Oh great I take one simple liberty for granted, and I forget about that stupid mark..." Matt thought.

"Yeah? What's it to you?" He retorted, angered as though he had lost his own identity. He knew he'd probably be labelled as a puppet of Sinto's Emperor or something to that effect.

"Nothing..." Kasashi said quietly, confused with Matt's anger. She thought he would have proudly exclaimed his allegiance. "I'm sorry." She said quickly.

Matt sighed a bit, "It's fine..."

Suddenly Nurse Joy came in the room. "Oh good you're both here, Kasashi you can continue what you were doing, I think you left off on the 3rd floor right? And Matt, can you begin handing out those bed pans you cleaned, just one in each room, starting with the 10th floor, please and thanks."

Again they were separated, but Matt wasn't as disheartened this time, as he imagining that Kasashi was imagining some wild blood bond that he might have taken part of. He went back down to the stinky basement, his Trapinch joyfully following behind him. Taking the cart to the elevator, he pressed the up button, and waited for it to come down.

"Hey, now you can help, it'll make the job go by faster if we both put bed pans in a room each. What do you say?"

"Trap!" It said excitedly, that any form of doing something was better than watching the kid do all the work.

Finally getting to the tenth floor, he began at the far end of a corridor; his trapinch took a bed pan, and ran into another room, while Matt took a bedpan of his own, from the cart, to place in the first room.

He suddenly stopped however, when the Hospital's intercom began to crackle, as though someone had turned it on, then a voice spoke.

"Citizens of Sinto, your attack upon us was ruthless and uncalled for, thus it is in our own just opinion, and for the sake of our own nation, that we seek revenge. LONG LIVE HOETO!" The man yelled.

Suddenly screams from the various rooms began to be heard, but even before Matt could react to anything, some explosions could be heard. One such explosion seemed to have occurred in a room next to him, as the giant concrete slab of a wall, separating the two, began to collapse. Matt tried to run out of the way of it, but it was too late.

"AHHHH!" He cried out in pain. His legs were pinned down and hecouldn't move. He was lucky however that even though his legs were being crushed, that they were not in an awkward position to break. Thus lying on his side he called out. "Hey, somebody help!"

No one came immediately, but his Trapinch responded, it saw that Matt was pinned down.

"Hey, hey can you find someone to help?" Matt pleaded, hoping his Pokémon would understand. Now he wished he had his gear, and wasn't wearing this stupid Scrub ware. His Trapinch appeared to obey and left the room continually yelling "Trap! Trap! Trap!" [No pun intended]

"Stupid! Stupid stupid stupid..." Matt thought. "I could have dodged that falling wall." He resented himself for not reacting quicker, though reassured himself that he didn't know what to expect either. "I don't want to be a part of this war... Why can't it just end?"

Finally his Trapinch came back, at first no one appeared behind him, then suddenly a Happiny entered the room.

"Happiniy, Happiny!" It said horridly.

Matt wasn't sure how this could improve the situation, as a Pokémon this small couldn't possibly lift an entire concrete slab. However his beliefs were quickly squashed as the Happiny lifted the slab like it was made of paper.

Using his hands, Matt slid out. Suddenly the main electricity went out, which was then replaced by the hospital's generators. Screams could still be heard within the rooms. Then Nurse Joy ran into the room.

"Matt are you okay? We have to help the patients," She said quickly, then she noticed he was slightly injured. "Are you okay?"

Unsure himself, Matt got up slowly, his right leg seemed to be fine, but his left leg was really soar, and was bleeding. He'd be hobbling for a while, but he could still function.

"Have you found Kasashi yet?" Matt asked.

"Yes, she is helping patients on the third floor," The nurse responded. "Let's use the stairs to evacuate those still left on the ninth and eight floor."

As they walked hurriedly (or in Matt's case hobbled), Matt asked a few more questions.

"So what was that about the Hoeto people?" He asked.

"I don't know, but I think it was some sort of retaliation." She said.

"Where are they now?" He asked.

"They were quickly dispatched by your people, though I think the Hoeto one's ran away, as soon as they saw that they were being out numbered." She said.

"This war sucks." Matt said simply.

They didn't say much as they helped evacuate the various patients. His Trapinch, helping removing debris and aiding the patience. It wasn't until they were finished and met Kasashi outside that they spoke again.

"Are you okay?" Kasashi asked, she looked exhausted as did her Chimchar. Matt knew they probably had helped a lot in the evacuation.

Ignoring her question, suddenly Matt remembered. "My gear is still in there!"

"Don't worry I've got it here and safe." She said pointing towards a lump of items on the ground.

Fire crews were on the scene making sure that everyone was out safe, before detailing the damage and needed repairs on the building. Matt was ushered towards the ambulance, where they placed a bandaid over his cut, and wrapped his sore leg in a bandage to lessen the burden of walking.

Finally with that over, he was finally able to thank his Pokémon. He bent down (gritting his teeth from the pain), to look at his Trapinch in the eyes and patted him. After all, he had helped saved his life.

Just then Master Jin came out of a car that had just arrived.

"It's good to see that you two are okay, I've been told you helped in the evacuation, and for that I give you my thanks," He said, as they bowed to him. "By the way, where is Jasper? He was with you, was he not?"

Both Kasashi and Matt shifted uncomfortably.

"I see, I'm going to have to have a word with him." He said simply.

Finally they were ushered back to the academy where they were able to have the rest of the day off. Matt decided to use the unused summer house; about twenty minutes walk from the academy. Before leaving though he changed back into his regular clothes, and waved farewell to Kasashi, as he watched her friends picking her up.

Finally getting home, he slumped onto the sofa.

"Well this will be our home for a while," Matt said to his Pokémon. "It'll be just us. Now let's get something to eat, and then we'll get you a name."

He smiled, thinking of the day's crazy events.

Lesley stared at Lividus in shock when he told her about the poison.
Of course I know about that poison! she thought. It comes from the Dokuketsu flower, which of course is only grown in Sinto. I heard that flower doesn't like "well-mannered soil", hence why it doesn't grow in Hoeto, where people take kindly to their gardens. If that's true, then...

Just then, Lesley heard Lividus telling Lacertis to take the two other assassins to the prison. Lesley had the sneaking suspicion that the two might end up escaping one of these days (it's a good thing she killed the leader, she thought)... but with their leader gone maybe that was less likely. Just then she saw Lacertis head toward the tree against which Streak had fallen. Lesley, meanwhile, re-entered the hospital, slipped past the nurses and patients in the north wing (who would like question and/or congratulate her if she revealed herself to them), and headed into the janitor closet where the first assassin was still lying unconscious. After a bit of searching, she spotted three shuriken pieces on the floor--two of the pieces were split down the exact centre of one tip, giving them an L-shape, and the third consisted of one whole tip.
I wonder if I can piece this shuriken back together, Lesley thought. Maybe with some string and some tape, it's possible... or I can make these this piece into an arrow or something... Or if I leave the pieces separate, I wonder what half a tip would do poison-wise...

After retrieving the shuriken pieces, Lesley exited the hospital, only to find Taylor pacing a short distance away.
Why isn't he heading home? she thought as she approached him. By that time the sun had completely set, although the sky was still a deep blue and it would be another hour or two before the moon rose.
When Lesley approached, Taylor looked like he was trying to make a decision. When he spotted the initially-annoying-sounding-girl-who-had-managed-to-kill-an-assassin, he cast a dark look at her, then turned his head away.
"Where are you going now?" Lesley asked him.
"I'm just going to wait around here until it's time to meet Lividus," the boy answered.
"That sound rather boring, doesn't it? You're not going to visit your parents before then? Or do you even have any parents?"
Taylor stopped short when Lesley mentioned the word "parents". He bowed his head, and his voice trembled a slight bit when he spoke again.
"My parents were killed by an enemy assassin," he struggled to say. "And I don't care much for the couple I live with."
"Oh really? That's too bad..." Lesley replied, showing a bit of compassion for him. This is more proof of the evil intentions of the Sinto folk, killing an innocent couple like that.

Speaking of killing, the guilt for having killed such an assassin resurfaced in Lesley's mind since then. Her heart felt a bit heavy, and she felt as if a cloak of shame had been thrust upon her, one that made her want to hide herself from the world, to not look at any person the same way ever again. At this moment Lesley knew she was far from the cheery, innocent child she had been some time ago, a few days which seemed like several years. Now, not only was she a responsible ninja, but she was also a murderer...
I didn't think it would feel this way, she thought. And I thought the Dokuketsu poison caused paralysis, not death... oh drat, I must have confused it with that of the Dengetsu flower. Stupid, stupid, stupid... yes, and I remember the Dokuketsu description saying the petals secreted a deadly poison... Why did the textbook put two flowers with similar names on the same page?
Then Lesley remembered what Taylor said about his parents. A thought came to Lesley's mind that maybe the assassin who killed his parents was the same assassin who Lesley just killed... It was rather unlikely, but this thought quelled her guilt quite a bit. Even if murder was a terrible thing to bear, Lesley now felt she had some security in the matter, as she felt that she was doing some innocent citizens of Hoeto justice.

Just as Lesley was thinking this, a familiar-looking woman came running to her, with her chocolate-brown hair and her summery clothes and the straw hat tied to her back...
"Mum?" Lesley said in disbelief. But sure enough, she was soon trapped in a hug from Ren.
"Oh Lesley, I'm so glad you're all right!" Then Ren let go of Lesley and looked around. Immediately she noticed Helmer, who was standing right next to Lesley.
"Oh, and is that your Pokemon? Oh wow! A Bagon, is it? And who's this?" Here Ren indicated Taylor, who was staring dumbfounded-ly at the two.
"Oh, that's Taylor," Lesley answered. "He's my teammate, and as you can tell, we don't really see eye to eye. When we were given our first missions, we were divided into teams of three--two rookies to one expert. My expert happened to be Mr. Amnis, my tactics instructor."
"He was your favourite teacher right?" Ren clarified. "Anyway, you're probably wondering what I'm doing here. Just a while ago, Jamar arrived at home with an escort, who informed us that three Sinto assassins were attacking the hospital. Jamar told me that he saw you in the hospital, so I thought you were in danger or something! And what's that you're holding?"
Ren had just noticed the sword Lesley was holding--the one that had belonged to the assassin.
"Oh, this? I stole it from one of the assassins," Lesley replied with a wink.
"You really managed to do that?!?" Ren exclaimed. "Assassins are very very dangerous, especially if they come from Sinto."

Just then, Charmander walked up to Ren and Lesley.
"Char char mander?" he asked them, pointing to Taylor. Taylor gave him a disapproving look.
Ren noticed the boy with the giant kunai. Getting an idea, she turned to Lesley.
"Well, Jamar's waiting at home, and so are Katrina and Mr. and Mrs. Daisley, and Isabella said she'd be coming too. As is Miss Akasaka, who would love to hear about what you did today."
Then Ren turned to Taylor. "Taylor? Would you like to come with us as well?"
Taylor scowled. "No thank you, I'd rather go see my own parents."
"Liar," Lesley retorted. "You said they were dead."
Taylor started, and came close to drawing his kunai out. Ren looked at Taylor, then Lesley, then Taylor again.

<"I'd like to come..."> Charmander said to Helmer. <"I don't like the sound of Taylor's foster parents...">
<"Well, I dunno what Lesley's parents are like either,"> Helmer replied, <"but it sounds like there will be quite a few other children there, and if Lesley plays with them I wanna get involved.">
<"I kinda wish Taylor would stop being so fussy,"> Charmander mentioned, <"but then again I kinda forgive him, since it sounds like he had a rather painful past. I, too, know what it's like to lose one's parents--once the master of the academy captured me, I never saw my Charmeleon parents again...">
<"Hmm, I don't,"> Helmer commented. <"I was born and raised at the academy, and quite popular with the other Pokemon in fact. I kinda miss being with my other buddy, that Larvitar... but I kinda like being with Lesley too. She's pretty smart, and doesn't make me feel underpowered. In fact, I almost feel like I'd have to be her guard dragon or something, especially when it comes to fighting.">

Of course, Taylor met a stream of questions from Ren concerning his parents. Taylor finally agreed to come to her house, on the condition that Ren would stop asking questions, and not mention the state of his parents to anyone else. Fortunately for him, Ren kept this secret, as the Merrimacs are known for being good secret-keepers (even though Ren is technically not of the Merrimac bloodline). Also fortunately for him, the house was not as boisterous as he expected. The house itself had a warm, relaxing atmosphere, almost like the ideal household. It was located just a short distance away from the streets of Hoeto, so the crowds of the town were near, but the house itself was surrounded by a group of oak trees, which seemed to muffle all the noise. Inside, a little girl bowed to the trio as she stood in front a steaming tea kettle, which Ren picked up as she passed by. She led Lesley and Taylor to a table, where an adult couple were helping themselves to an early supper.

As Taylor sat down, he gazed out the window, and saw the walkways of the garden, and a pit where a campfire ought to have been. Two children were playing ball just behind that spot, though one helped himself to a strawberry from the garden when the ball fell near it.
"We usually gather outside on a lovely evening like this," Ren explained as she offered Taylor a cup of tea, "but the ground is still a bit damp from today's rain, meaning of course the fire won't start. Oh, and please help yourself to a peach," and here she indicated a basket on the table. "Our tree has just been producing loads of them lately, but they're really delicious. Hey Lesley, why don't you give one to Mr. Amnis as well? I'm sure he'll like it."
Ren even took the pleasure of cutting the peach into slices. While she was doing this, Taylor looked at the room next to him, a spacious living room with a soft-looking floor and decorated with several colourful pillows and cushions. On the far wall, just above the fireplace, was a painting--it looked to be a couple hundred years old at least, but the contents gave it a rather cheery appearance. Four young men were in the picture. The one on the right looked to be the biggest and the oldest, wore an eye patch, and had a sword strapped to his belt. The one on the far left, partially obscured by a cute, boyish-looking young lad in a baby blue bandanna, looked very gypsy-like, especially with the hoop earrings and the headband with a happy face on it, and the crystal ball he held. But the one in the centre, the prominent leader of this group, was a scrawny yet handsome man with wavy, straw-coloured hair, and he had an intense, almost wizened look in his deep brown eyes that reminded onlookers of Lesley. Below this picture, resting on the mantle, were a bunch of pretty little sculptures and figurines.

"Bay bagon!" Helmer shouted at the two children who had been playing outside. He was just about to re-enter the house.
"We're not playin' with ya no longer!" the boy, who Lesley recognised as the Jamar from before, called back. "You're too good at kicking the ball, and heading it of course."
"Oh come on, I enjoy watching him," the girl remarked.
Also at that point, a woman wearing a flowery kimono walked in. Ren greeted her as she approached the table.
"Oh hello, Miss Akasaka! Why don't you have a seat right next to Lesley?"
"Aww, I wanted to sit there," the girl who had been tending the kitchen whined. Being one of Lesley's best friends, she felt like she had the privilege.

Moments later, Miss Akasaka talked to Lesley, primarily asking questions about how the exam went, and how her first task as a ninja went. Ren listened in to this conversation, and the girl peered over Lesley's shoulder as well. Minutes passed, and eventually Lesley got to the part where the assassins attacked the hospital.
"...yes, and if you're wondering where I got this sword from," Lesley explained as she drew out her new sword, "I stole it from the leader of the three assassins, while his belt was loose and he was keeping watch over the hospital."
"Not quite," Taylor piped in. "She killed that assassin first."
Miss Akasaka, Ren, and the other girl gasped.
"I-i-is this... true?" the girl stammered.
"Don't worry, Katrina," Lesley reassured her, casting a threatening glance at Taylor. "Taylor tends to exaggerate things a bit. Actually, I killed him by accident. You know those shurikens I stole from that other assassin? I came across the leader and I panicked, and I happened to have the shuriken in my hand, and threw it at him. I didn't even know it was poisoned!" Lesley knew this was kind of a lie, especially because she did know about the poison, and had planned the attack. But nobody was with her at the time besides maybe Helmer, and thus nobody could prove otherwise.

The last thing Lesley did in that house was repair the broken shuriken. Heading into Ren's little office, she took the two L-shaped pieces and fastened them together with some string, then reinforced it with tape. It looked to be good for throwing now, except two of the points were really half-points. The third piece she made into an arrow. As an afterthought, she snuck into Ren's herb cabinet, where she took out a kind of sap which she knew caused terrible itching when in contact with blood. Then she took out the shuriken she had used to kill the assassin and dipped the used tip into the sap, shaking it and blowing on it to let it dry.

At last Lesley and Taylor left the Merrimac household and wandered off in the night towards Lividus' house, their Pokemon following alongside them. They didn't encounter any more Sinto folk along the way--it was a peaceful night, and not a cry nor angry retort was heard. In the marketplace in the distance, people had already closed up shop and were still carrying goods home. Other cheery folk wandered about the streets of downtown Hoeto, socialising or out to a drink and a show at the various inns. Taylor and Lesley made a right just before the marketplace, turning down a less crowded street running alongside a wooded area behind which the hospital stood. Soon enough they came to a large house, which they knew belonged to Lividus and an elder named Master Kanaka. Lesley walked up to the door and knocked on it.

Lividus, who had taken off his kimono, opened the door and greeted the two. When he did, Lesley reached under her shawl and took out two peaches. She handed these to Lividus.
"My mum insisted that I bring you these," Lesley said with a slight bit of a giggle. "They're from our tree. I thought Lacertis might like one as well."

OOC: I can't fathom why a Feraligatr would like a peach, but... oh well.

"Why thank you Lesley," said Lividus as he threw the other peach to Lacertis, who ate the whole peach and the pit in one bite. "Lacertis really likes peaches. Anyways, welcome to my home. Lacertis made some stew for all of us to eat. He is a really good chef." "Ral Gatr Feral!" (Translation: You damn right!) "Lacertis! Watch your language!" said Lividus as he took a bite of his peach. "I must apologize. Lacertis and I aren't really used to guests."

Lividus then went to the table, which was a traditional Japanese table with cotton cushions seated around it. In the center of the table was the pot of stew Lacertis made. "Lesley! Taylor! You two come eat. You both will need the energy," said Lividus as he sat to the left of the table. He then took a bowl and scooped some stew out. Lacertis sat to Lividus's right and did the same with his bowl. They then started eating their stew rather politely. Lividus always ate like this, but Lacertis only ate like this when he was wanting to impress people.

"As soon as you two are done eating, we will begin training. Remember what I told you two. You both will be fighting me," said Lividus as he slowly ate his stew. He had been thinking about how he was gonna fight the kids. Should he go easy on them, or should he let them have it.

"I can't go easy on them," thought Lividus. "The Sinto ninjas won't go easy on them in the field, so I shouldn't go easy on them during training."

Lividus kept on thinking and eating his stew. He then took the peach Lesley gave him and ate the rest of it. He had almost forgotten about it.

"They are both like peaches. They appear soft, but I'm sure their soul is hard as steel. It will have to be for training," thought Lividus as he finished eating his stew. He then looked over at Lacertis, who had just finished as well. "Let's begin my students."

Ninetales and Game Over: Nice posts guys. I was more thinking you'd wait for the next day, but way to keep it going XD It's good to see you two are so into this RP =3

Yayz for crappy and short posts XD:

"You guys," Shelby stated once they had arrived inside the house and the parents had left, "can take care of the kids."

Sahib and Chione were both looking rather unsurely towards two three year olds. They were twin boys. One had rumpled brown hair while the other had a light honey colored hair. They both had bright blue eyes. They were wearing basically the same clothes, except for the darker haired one had on a blue shirt and the other boy had on a red one. They were both grinning up at their new…playmates.

"Why do we have to take care of them?" Sahib grumbled. "This is kid's stuff."

"Yeah," Shelby said, "but you know what?" They both looked over at her. "I don't care," she said pleasantly. She then walked off and plopped down on a chair, leaving her students to do all of the dirty work. Shelby leaned her head against the back of the chair and watched as Sahib stared down at the kids with a rather distasteful look on his face. She smiled in a slightly smug way.

The kids then tugged on Sahib's pants, looking up at him with wide eyes. Shelby grinned widely. "Well, go take them to get ice cream, Sahib," Shelby said.

"I don't see why I have to," Sahib said. Shelby stared at him. Sahib stared back in a rather dry way. Chione heaved a sigh, grabbed a fistful of his shirt, and dragged him out. The two kids followed after, chanting happily about ice cream.

Shelby leaned her head against the chair. She flipped on the TV, and looked at the window in surprise when a small rap was at it. With a tiny sigh, she pushed up from the chair and opened the window, looking at the messenger Pidgey. It was a document saying that the hospital had just undergone attack. Shelby frowned and read carefully about the spies. She looked up at the sky. So it's coming to this again? Just as the exams were finishing, of course, she thought, remembering that the Trainer Selection Exams had taken place today as well as the Rookie Graduation. With a small sigh once more, she signaled the bird away. The Pidgey turned and flew out of the window, off into the rainy day.

Hours later, her team returned. They were covered in mud, their Pokémon didn't look very happy, and neither did they. The kids looked extremely happy, however. Shelby blinked a few times, eyebrow shooting up.

"I hate you," Sahib grumbled, eyeing the mud that was encased in his hair that flopped in front of his eyes.

"I know," Shelby replied. "Well, our job is done here for the day," she stated. "So! You little br…you guys can go home," she declared. "The parents will be here in moments, I'll let 'em know how it went."

Sahib immediately turned and headed for the door, his Larvitar trailing after him silently. Chione blinked, looking briefly down at her Turtwig. Then with a simple shrug, she followed Sahib as well. Shelby watched them leave from the window. She greeted the parents about five minutes later, and then was off herself. She took the mission report to the Master's Tower, and then sloshed home in the rain. With a grumble under her breath, she let out a breath when she flopped down on the softness of her mansion. Hopefully, she thought, it won't get as bad as it did that time though.
