skarmory

Aero gets sent into Skarm because Skarm can do crap, except WW or Roar. Its basically something to stall it out, or sometimes Aero gets Roar-ed out, and so you Steel Wing it. And plus, +Defense boost>Drill Peck anyway, so, yeah, I'm such a nub =[

What I mean is that those skarms with Steel Wing are usually those kinds that have, like, 4 attack moves. Note the usage of the words "usually" and "mostly". Have a nice day.

Probably not with the 4x weakness to Ground.

If you put that many EVs into speed on Skarmory, then it's going to get KOed easily by something else than Magneton, since its tanking ability is significantly decreased.
Magneton with max defense + some HP will take any not crit HP ground from a max attack Skarm. And 95 power Tbolt + STAB +super effective=sandwich topping in tin foil.

Even if the skarm survives and roars you out, whatever comes out can probably take off the little HP it has left.

Specialising Maggie to counter a specialised Skarmory seems strange, when Magneton is much more effective when it can have maxed SpAt rather than HP/PhDf -- its' not just for taking down Skarm. Skarmory isn't that much to fear, even if it is specialsed to take down Maggie.

True. I guess it'd be something you do if you're primarily choosing Magneton because your team otherwise struggles with Skarmory. A defense Magneton can still be pretty decent, and at least you don't have to gamble if you do face a Skarmory. But yes, a standard EV spread one will eat HP ground. Though if you really aren't fearing Skarm, there are electric types with better movepools. Just pointing out when it comes down to it, if a Magneton and a Skarmory know they'll face off, the Magneton has the ability to always come out the winner.

I hope you know no one uses HP Ground Skarm and wastes EVs to outspeed Maggy.

I did, and it was quite effective on other things as well. Like I said though, I'm just dealing with hypothetical Skarm/Mag scenarios.

Maggy is usually paired with Gyarados btw.

And Maggy really screws up my Forry, but then Duggy laughs at it. :D

lol HP Ground on any pokemon can take out a nontanked out magneton. =[

Keep in mind I meant one with semi decent attack stats.

Tanking magneton = poop =[

Again, I was just going off of frosty's hypothetical. But Magneton itself would be if it wasn't for pull, anyways. I mean, how often did you see them in GSC? ._.

Not much, seeing how there isn't abilities. :P

Also, people who want Magneton with Levitate are stupid, because like Dugtrio, Magneton specializes in taking down certain Pokemon, Magneton with Bolt and HP Fire takes down Skarmory and Forretress, both Spikers. Dugtrio is used to take down Raikou and to finish off already weakened non-Flying/Levitating Pokemon (haha Maggy).

What is a standard Magneton anyways? I just max out its Sp.Atk and Speed and own anyone with a HP Ground Skarm, regaurdless of its Ev's.

Magneton @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 150 HP / 100 Def / 8 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunder Wave
- Metal Sound

Something like that. There are many variations with Toxic, Sub, et cetera. The 8 speed EVs are to outspeed the standard Skarm who has no speed EVs.

Magneton gets some crappy moves... mainly because it's a magnet and 3 balls, you wouldn't expect to see it using ice punch or whatever. Anyway, mine. Speed and sp att maxed out so as to make use of sub. Here:

Magneton@Leftovers
Magnet Pull
252 spd, 252 sp att, 6 hp
Timid Nature (-Att + Spd)
Substitute
Thunder Bolt
Metal Sound
HP Fire

If they switch to something like snor, you get a free turn to metal sound. And if the idiot uses curse or belly drum? You have a free kill. Of course, if he eqs, let the sub break then switch out to a flyer. Meh.

lol I like HH. I have tried both out and both are excellent, I just like HH better. :p Anyways... Metal Sound Maggy = pphaze on bliss. =]
