Currently there are 649 discovered pokemon in the pokemon world...seems a little strange when compared with our world which has around 51,000 spieces known to man not including insects. And that made me think how many pokemon will there be when pokemon ends. The orginal slogan "Gotta Catch em all!" seems very impossible to do once the number of pokemon streches into the thousands.

Around 150 new pokemon are introduced every 2-3 years. Pokemon has been around since 1996(blue and green are released into japan) and it is currently 2010. 649/14= about 43 new pokemon per year.

Evantullay even ash will forget pokemons name beacause its very hard to rememeber 600+ names of things/types/attack and in the pokemon anime it seems like an obseesion to know every pokemon by name and see/catch them all. Plus he still has to remeber appointments, people, and money managment etc so eveantully he brains going to blow up or he has an amazing memory...

Basicaly what im saying is pokemon is getting too big. its hard for fans to remember 600+ names and type. What do u think will happen? will pokemon keep getting bigger or will something happen to shorten the amount of pokemon.

They won't give a **** about the people trying to remember everything and continue to make it as long as it makes money. If you can't remember something you can just look it up anyway.

Actually, it might not be that much of a trouble to memorize if you're really into Pokemon. Just like a math professor. He's had to learn to learn Calculus, Number Theory, Math History, and all the nice college stuff, not to mention liberal arts basics, but he can't exactly afford to forget how to find the prime factorization of numbers XD

And... as Vernikova said (Very unnecessarily put, though) the big cats simply won't care about these factors as long as they make more money. The most probable thing would be that Pokemon will get to the point where newer fans won't know there was such thing as The Original 150 until they find out from internet sources or older friends.

No doubt, we're gonna go into the thousands one day. But if it does become a problem, it might become a situation where the older Pokemon will have to be labeled "Deprecated". This means that Nintendo and Game Freak will stop supporting older Pokemon. Not exactly for technical reasons, but more for the sake of playability. New fans will only hear of the Pokemon we older fans know of as a legend. The way this would apply to the Anime would be for having Pikachu being the only evidence that the originals ever existed.

As previously stated the information can be looked up. For Ash to identify a pokemon all he needs is his dex. I think pokemon will keep building up, there is no reason for it not to, the product is hot and selling so keep it rolling.

Ong everything comes out, you'll find it perfectly easy to remember, I'm sure ^-^

Well im sure none of us here have forgotten any of any pokémon names so I doubt he will either. Even so, he has a pokédex remember?

I can remember the names of most of the pokemon off by heart, but not the Pokedex order, base stats and all that crap. But show me random pictures of pokemon and I might be able to say which is which in a flash. But yeah, you are right. Pokemon is getting a little too big now. Like I said before, the games can continue just like the Mario series continues, but there has to be a limit on how many Pokemon species there can be.

Since there are 600+ Pokemon around as of now, Ash just needs to use his Pokedex to look up older Pokemon. The Pokemon anime will keep going as long as the games keep going.
