Small Writing Contest [Under Construction]

Last time there were like 20 entries last contest. XD; I'm still thinking maybe just combine poetry and one shots since I'm still unsure how many people will actually go for poetry.

While we're at it, shall we talk about the prompt and how we'll grade the entries too? Already said I would like the prompt be "Challenge." As for grading, I'm thinking it could be divided into three categories:

-Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation
-Overall Writing Style
-Story/How Well It Fits the Prompt

I think it went like that last contest, actually. XD
 
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Originality and uniqueness.
- Flow of the story/poem.

Well, that's what I think. XD

Yeah, that's exactly how it went. (I still have the reviews from last year.) It worked fine then, so I personally would like to see it used again.

The one issue I have with your suggestion, Zeffy, is that it doesn't include the prompt at all in scoring. And since we're writing based on a prompt, maybe it should be included in the scoring?

I actually have to agree with Astinus that it didn't include grading on the prompt. I've been in many writing contests and many times judges will see if the story fits the prompt well. So yeah, I think prompt should be included.

All right, cool. I actually would like to use that for the scoring. However, want to see what the other hosts/judges think.

Okay, I think as soon as we're all in the same page, we can get started on the thread setup. I don't mind doing that since I know a bit of CSS (though I won't go too fancy :P). So, any ideas what we can put in the thread?

Hm, by that do you mean like the topic and the rules for this contest?
If it's something like that we could add the challenge prompt idea to the thread, I think that be good.

Yeah, I meant the topic and the rules most likely. Okay, I think we'll have challenge as "prompt" then. I'm thinking the rules for the contest is pretty much what the rules for the fanfic section are except that you're not entering a chaptered fic. :P

One thing I'm thinking though is how the entries should be entered. Would you guys whether have the entries be coming in by PM or have the entrants post their stories in the fanfic section right away?

Oh, and this is for Astinus: will you still be judging or you're thinking of wanting to enter?

But honestly, I'd like to try my hand at writing a story based on a prompt where the story doesn't concern my OTP in any way. So I've been thinking of entering.
 
Hm, I don't mind if the hosts want to do enter, actually. How about this: those hosts that want to judge, say so. Those hosts that want to enter, say so too. I'm thinking of doing a draft of the thread for this contest today and I want to know which hosts wants to judge and which ones would rather participate. As for me, I'll be judging.

Okay, I posted the thread but it needs to be approved (I think you have to do that, Astinus :P). As soon as the thread is up, I want you guys to see if there's something I should add and such. Also, still need to know if you guys want to judge or enter the contest. I'm fine if you all want to enter because I already thought up a couple judges if that's the case. If I don't hear from you guys soon, I'll just have you judge since I can't wait for the answer too long. :x
