Smokers FTL

What benifits? It kills you slowly. It does nothing to increase your health, & gives you pure enjoyment.

As for Pokemon, as addicting as that is, it didn't kill my wallet the way smoking does.

Like I said, I couldn't care less if people smokes. However, second hand smoke hurts ME. Thats where I draw the line.

You have the typical view of a non-smoker. You wouldn't understand the pleasurable act of smoking simply because you've never tried it. It all boils down to people's choices; a lot of people think its well worth it! And I'm not talking about smoking supposedly "relieving stress" and all that crap. Smoking just helps you deal with the withdrawal symptoms you feel because you are addicted to nicotine.

I disapprove with some people's comments about people who smoke being "stupid" or "weak willed" because the reverse is actually true: a lot of smokers are strong willed and intelligent people. My favourite composer died of smoking. My least favourite composer died of smoking. My uncle (financial analyst) died of smoking. My grandfather (mathematician) died of smoking and he had lung cancer AND a brain tumour. They are all intelligent people. But you're probably going to say: "why would seemingly intelligent people continue to smoke, knowing full well the dangers and potential implications of doing so?"

I'm not saying it's a good idea or anything, but whether someone chooses to smoke or not depends only upon their own opinion. There is no point in lecturing a smoker about the dangers of smoking! Chances are, they already know full well. I, for one, am far too vain to put up with the side effects. 'Nuff said.

As much as I wish I hadn't spent so much of my childhood in front of a Gameboy Colour, I take back what I said about pokemon being a waste of time. Time is not wasted if it has been enjoyed…I suppose smokers could say a similar thing about smoking.

Who said I never tried it? Why do you think my sister was addicted? She got me to try it (when we were younger), but she never stopped. Of course, she is 5 years older.

However, from her 6 or so years of smoking, she stopped not only for the health risk, but because she couldn't afford it.

She constantly speaks of how glad she broke the habit. She tells me that she has so much energy, & can notice the difference.

As said, if they enjoy it, if they are killing themselves, I couldn't care less. But do it in private. I have a sensitive nose, & I HATE the smell.

I get that attitude from my mother. When my sister was sent to the hospital due to smoking, we were worried, sure. But once we found out why she was there, we starred to get less worried & more pissed at the fact that she wasted our time. She knew the risk, she ignored it, & paid for it. We saw it comming, so we took it lightly.

Yes I know the feeling and addiction of smoking, because alright to be honest I've tried smoking about a couple of times but luckily I find that I didn't get addicted or anything, you get Emphysema from smoking its a pathological condition of the lungs marked by an abnormal increase in the size of the air spaces, resulting in labored breathing and an increased susceptibility to infection. It is usually caused by irreversible expansion of the alveoli or by the destruction of alveolar walls, one of many illnesses that can be caused by smoking, has killed millions of people.

I'm really sorry. I assumed you'd never tried smoking because of your view and I'm ashamed :( Please forgive me.

I have to say that it upsets me when I see people I care about smoking. But I know this really old man who's a chain smoker, he has both his legs amputated because of smoking and he still doesn't regret starting. He's a grumpy bastard though so I can't deny that he deserved it XD

My grandfather had emphysema as well now you mention it. He was also asthmatic. Apparently I'm a lot like him...:'(:'(:'( he died when he was in his 30s so I never met him. That makes me wish smoking was never invented.

Exactly. Its a drug, & despite the enjoyment & pleasure you get from it, there is no real upside to it. We get enjoyment out of many things, but ignoring the negatives doesn't make them dissapear. I wish people realize that just because the pain doesn't affect you offhand, you WILL feel it. Hell, if you don't get hurt now, you'll feel it hard later.

Don't mention it. No need to apologize for such a minor problem.
