3rd Gen Sniny Charmander?

    What's the best way to obtain a shiny Charmander? Would I have to get the one at prof Oak's lab and save and restart till I get one? Or will I have to hatch 1,000's of Charmander eggs?

    I want one so bad!
     
    Well starting off with a charmander and checking its stats when you battle your rival will be the fastest, but still very slow. If you're unlucky you might have to do it 8100 times !
     
    Soft resetting for the starter at the beginning of the game will require less effort than hatching so many eggs. And it's faster as well.

    Just note that even if you do hatch 8192 eggs or soft reset 8192 times, there's never a guarantee that you'll get a shiny even if the chances of it is 1 in 8192.

    Well, the fastest way would be to use an Action Replay, but I wouldn't. Cheated pokes just don't... mean anything.

    All that soft-resetting would make me scream. I'm impatient, so I'd try to get one off the gts. But if you don't have wifi...

    Soft-reset. It's how most people go. It's much faster than the eggs.

    Yeah it may take you a long time, I heard someone soft reseted like 8000 times in two days and got a shiny bulbasaur so its possible, just patience is the key
     
    You could soft reset on Fire Red?

    How do you do that? (thats like reseting the game without turning off the whole DS/GBA right?)

    start select a and b press them all together and it restarts at title screen hope i helped btw it took me about 50-60mins to get shiny bulba so it shouldnt take that long ...
     
    Lol, When I said Noob Question I meant that I was asking what Softstarting was, not that this topic was a "noob question."
     
    Lol, I tried Softrestarting to get a shiny charmander, did it 9 times and was like, "Gawd this is boring."
     
    I've been soft reseting for a week now and I don't got shiny charmander yet
     
    Chances of getting a shiny Pokemon are very small, especially with starters since you can't chain with them.

    Chances of getting a shiny are 1 in 8192.
