Its my grandparent's 50th anniversary and my family and I are walking around Montreal looking for local shops and stuff when we enter a random building for a bathroom.

Well, it turns out that we entered the building where the anime convention Otakuthon is being held. I just looked it up: https://www.otakuthon.com/2017/home/

My grandparents didnt quite understand all of the people with funky hair and costumes lol. I didnt know there was any convention going on, but I knew it was some sort of anime convention as soon as we walked in. I didnt say anything and let them try to figure out what was going on until my uncle went to a desk where you check in and read all about it. He came back saying that it was an anime convention and then everyone in my family started saying:

"anime? Anime anime anime" until it clicked in their brains the word "animation" lol. They thought the costumes were crazy, so they all started taking a bunch of pictures of everyone. I can upload a couple I took onto here if y'all want, but it was just the entrance so there aren't as many people.

I thought that was a funny story to share with y'all. Has anything similar to this happened to you? Any funny coincidences that you would like to share?

Not particularly, unfortunately. But I have been to Otakuthon and had a great time :)

I was coming back from UofT this past year in Toronto and was at Union Station and saw a ton of people dressed up in all types of costumes (iron man, cats, fairies, etc.) and had no idea what is was about. Turns out there was some comic-con type thing going on in the city

On a side note, if you're not originally from Canada you have to try the Poutine in Montreal. It is probably the best Poutine you will find on the planet.

Unfortunately I wont be able to try the Poutine because I'm leaving Montreal tomorrow. :/
