    Alright, does anyone have any predictions at all for it. Kenny as most of you know is suppose to make an appearance, and its been speculation that Dawn will win. Post any ideas you have!
     
    Hikari is going to win the contest. Kengo is going to battle Musashi and he is going to lose. The final battle is between Musashi and Hikari. Thats speculation on my part but who knows maybe it'll happen. I am pretty sure Hikari is going to win though

    maybe she might win,afterall she is getting a bit stronger.
     
    The way the anime is set up, it's more than likely that Dawn will win.

    I don't know why, but I think that she is going to use her newly obtained Aipom in it. It makes sense for her to use it. The way she wins...uhh, not so sure.
     
    Then, many people will complain about Kenny not being a worthy rival, if he did lose again to Dawn. (Obviously, this isn't true. Who says you have to beat your rivals to be a worthy opponent?) If Dawn loses, peopel will complain she's lost too much. However, some people have stated that if Dawn loses, there is a good chance for character development for her.

    Personally, I think she'll win though. She has to end that losing streak somehow.

    Kenny is Dawn's childhood friend. They both come from Twinleaf. Surprisingly, both are Coordinators as well.

    Why can't Kenny either lose in an appeal round or lose to someone else? I mean it's the ONLY thing the writers can do and people won't complain. I mean if Dawn loses again then I dunno.

    Because, then, it wouldn't be as dramatic as "I'm beating my childhood friend, sporfle." How about making a new rival, Nintendo, or we're going to end up with Harley and Drew with May all over again. Blurgh.

    See that's the thing. I mean like that would make Kenny Harley. I mean he'd beat her eventually but I mean Kenny can't be the only person she can beat.
     
    Well, by professional demeanor, Zoey would be her Drew. Kenny wouldn't be Harley, as we need someone completely over-the-top for that (Jessie?). Kenny has the childhood past shtick, and that's the only interesting thing about him. My guess, he's the Sinnoh version of that one character introduced as Drew's childhood friend in the Kanto Grand Festival (I forget her name at the moment). However, she was introduced too late, thus lessening the impact (which is why the Kanto GF was disappointing to me).

    The writers are learning, but, for me, it's hard to be invested, either way. It's hard to top Drew and Harley, y'know?

    Well you can't compare them completely. Zoey is the Dreiwsh type but directly tries to help Dawn. Kenny makes fun of Dawn alot, but the difference with Harley is that he doesn't do it out of malice. Also your thinking of Saori(Soledad). He can't be Saori only because he'd have to be Zoey's old friend. As for Jessie, she was the same in Houen and Kanto she is jsut the Jessie rival who is there to be the third.
     
    I didn't say it was a full comparison, as more frame of reference -- who could fit which mold present right now? I didn't say Kenny was Saori (thanks), but both have that archetype: their having memories poking at a main character's foibles. As for him being Harley, true, Kenny prods her, but unlike Kenny, Harley had no connection to May prior to their first encounter. Just because the character interactions are different in my examples, doesn't you can sense a possible theme.

    As it is, the writers -- now that they've done two Contest arcs so far -- may be swapping around archetypes sooner or later. I don't want to make full-on comparisons yet, but there is enough to conjecture a bit. Which is all we can do, especially since Sinnoh will take a long while to complete.

    Also, on a Saori-like foil for Zoey, Dogasu said this on Zoey's Japanese name:

    One interesting tidbit that was brought to my attention by PokeAni is that both Hikari and Nozomi are the names of lines on the shinkanesen. Does this mean we're going to see a second rival character named Kodama somewhere along the road?

    I agree, Kodama should be another girl though. Also, what happened to my contest filelr rivals?! I mean they're killing me that all Dawn sees are her same old rivals in every contest.
     
    Going back to my first post of the night -- yeah, would is a funny word to me, as it means "could be", "maybe", or nothing as definitive to me. Or room for interpretation. Heh. I was going to add/re-edit that, and you already posted! Hehe.

    Anyway, yeah, we need more female characters, and to be honest, I'm getting sick of seeing the same old Contestants as you are. I want new, totally different archetypes, or we're turning back to BF's Contest arc. Ugh, what a mess that was.
     
    It's gonna be another contest without Nozomi.. I cry. ;-;
    Still, I really want Hikari to win.. because everyone knows that Musashi won't. xD;
    I doubt Hikari's friend will win, either... but I guess theres no way to say, for sure.

    & I agree with Charaxes about wanting more contestants... =_=;

    I felt the same with AG.
     
    Me wants four-way Sinnoh GF. That would be made of win.

    I was thinking; if Nando doesn't get five ribbons and doesn't get to take part in the GF, maybe a new rival could be introduced to make up for his absence?
