Of the UU list, I would choose between Lickitung, Nidoqueen, Slowbro, and Primeape.

Hmmmm.... Nidoqueen in Gen II was still a bit too powerful to be a true UU wasn't it? Same with Primeape, so Slowbro or Lickitung? Right now I am looking at Lickitung, anyone else with other ideas, or advice for Lickitung before I commit?

I'd like to have my name down for this. I'm using Grimer/Muk. Started it yesterday after finding this forum but only just got around to posting here.

    - Got to Kanto finally!
    - Fought my way through Victory road, defeated my Rival.
    - Beat Will with a Sludgebomb a piece.
    - Swapped Icepunch out for Firepunch for Koga.
    - Beat Koga with a Firepunch each.
    - Had a little trouble with Bruno, but got them down with a Sludgebomb/Pound combo.
    - Topped up Sludgebombs PP using an Ether, as it was at 0.
    - Karen's Pokemon went down to to the Sludgebomb/Pound combo too.
    - Forgot to swap Icepunch back in to make the Dragonites easier, but beat Lance fairly easily, most of his Pokemon went down to Sludgebomb.
    - New League Champion! Now onto the Kanto gyms and Red!

Level 65 Muk @ Amulet Coin (Why not make a little extra money?)
    - Sludgebomb
    - Firepunch/Icepunch
    - Pound
    - Acid Armor

If you hack in your poke, is it against the rules to give him a lucky egg?

I did this quite recently with a Scizor, and found it enjoyable. Can I get a suggestion from someone of an interesting, yet doable pokemon to use for another solo run?

How about a defensive oriented pokemon? Requires more than a simple move to sweep the opponent's pokemon...makes things more interesting.

    Update!

-Went to Powerplant, offered my help
-Cerulean City - Defeated foreign TRocket grunt (lol) and returned missing part to powerplant
-visited Bill's grandfather, interrupted Misty's date
-Defeated Misty, obtained Cascadebadge (easiest gymleader battle after Falkner)
    Spoiler:

    -Flew back to Celadon
    -Bike path => Fuschia City
    -Defeated Janine, received Soulbadge
    Spoiler:

    - Beat Sabrina at the Saffron Gym.
    - Got the Railpass from Saffron City.
    - Mopped the floor with Lt. Surge.
    - Swapped out Firepunch for Thunderpunch so Misty is even easier.

Level 69 Muk @ Amulet Coin

    - Acid Armor

BTW Disco, you should replace Pound with Fire Punch for better coverage. Maybe even Ice Punch, but then Steel Pokes would rip you apart.
If you are doing a challenge with Pound till the end to it's harder I excuse myself.

I hadn't actually thought of that, thanks for suggesting it. I might put in another of the Elemental Punches in place of Pound when I get to Red, so the coverage is better, but for now, I think I'm keeping Pound since it has quite a large amount of PP, which means less Pokemon Centre visits, and with the level difference between Muk and the opponents I'm facing, it still tears through most of them.

    Forgot about PP lol.
How about Return? Every Sunday on top of the Goldenrod Mart a women gives it to you.
If your Muk likes you to the max, then its 102 Base Power and 20 PP.

Another update. Final one for my Grimer/Muk Solo run.

    - Beat Misty and her gym with a Thunderpunch a piece.
    - Went through Rock Tunnel to get to Lavender Town.
    - Got the Kanto Radio Card.
    - Went to Celadon City, listened to the "scary story" and got Curse. Got Leftovers from the restaurant.
    - Swapped Thunderpunch out for Firepunch for Erika's gym.
    - Practically set fire to Erika's gym with Firepunch.
    - Went on to Cycling Road and remembered how much fun it was in RBY and spent 10 minutes messing about on it.
    - Finally made my way to Fuschia and remembered the Safari Zone isn't open (Shame, was fun in RBY.)
    - Tore my way through Janine's gym with Firepunch.
    - Went through the Silence Bridge, didn't feel like trying to catch a Chansey to trade for Aerodactyl.
    - Got the Super Rod.
    - After several tries, 10 Ultra Balls, and 19 Great Balls, I catch Snorlax with the final ball in my Pack.
    - Quickly went through Diglett's cave and went towards Pewter City.
    - Got the Silver Wing from the old man, even though I wont be using it.
    - Had a little trouble with Brock's pokemon, but finally took him down using Sludgebomb and upping my defence with Acid Armor.
    - Beat around the trainers on Route 3, headed towards Mt. Moon.
    - Sludgebombed and Firepunched my Rival into submission, again.
    - Flew back to Pewter and headed south onto Route 2, headed towards Viridian City.
    - Beat a Trainer in Viridian's Trainer House.
    - Headed South to Pallet Town then continued South towards Cinnibar Island to find Blue.
    - Surfed east from Cinnibar Island to challenge Blaine.
    - Beat Blaine with Pound, of all things.
    - Flew back to Viridian to challenge Blue.
    - Defeated Blue without much trouble. He reminds me of my Rival. All bark and no bite.
    - Mt. Silver here I come!
    - Healed at the Pokemon Centre just before Mt. Silver and ran from all the battles on my way to Red. No PP or Item wastage.

    The Final Battle

    Level 81 Muk @Amulet Coin
    - Sludgebomb
    - Firepunch
    - Pound
    - Acid Armor

vs Pikachu - Single Sludgebomb took it out.
vs Espeon - Two Sludgebombs took it out, down to 12hp thanks to it's Psychic. Using a Max Potion.
vs Snorlax - Maxed defence with Acid Armor, took a couple of Body Slams to the face, but got him down with a load of Sludgebombs.
vs Venusaur - Three Firepunches and it was out like a light.
vs Charizard - Three Sludgebombs and it got poisoned, needed to use a Max Potion on Muk, Charizard got fainted by poison.
vs Blastoise - Another Max Potion used after I got Surfed, used Sludgebomb and Blastoise got poisoned, fairly easy win.

    Challenge Complete!

*I do have pictures, just not allowed to post them yet*

Any suggestions for which Pokemon to do next? Different type this time, just no normals, I don't think I'm awesome enough for that. Or enough of a sucker for punishment.

  • Normals aren't that bad. They don't get stab bonuses, but they can usually learn a bunch of different type attacks. If you're looking for an easy challenge, go Kadabra (Alakazam if you can trade). He can learn all three elemental Punches, and has a ridiculous special attack. The only problem is Karen's Houndoom.

Snorlax or Tauros. Just because you said no Normal Types, and they would be fun

  • going to do this one with ditto. Wish me luck ^_^

    Hacked in my ditto.
I got clever with nicknames here.
Named myself Copycat and my rival Me.
I named my trusty ditto You.
    Because it is you.
And now, my adventure with you begins!

This challenge has been very interesting so far.
You conquered the Sprout tower, with a bit of difficulty.
You have low hp, so you require potions. a lot of potions.
You are now level 11. You are about to conquer Violet Gym.
    Confusing? Same here. O_o

You are my hero. This or a run with a single Clefairy with hacked moves so it knows Unlimited Metronome, metronome, metronome, and metronome are probably two of the greatest challenges ever.

  • i need a question answered. considering 2nd gen, does ditto transform in the opponent's exact stats or just the base stats?

Im having a hard time, as you would expect. I forgot this was silver, where everybody has crappy movesets.
