This is my first non-Pokemon game, and I hope to turn it into a Team Dawn game. This game is being made in RM2K3 and features Sonic the Hedgehog and the gang. Here are some details:

    Storyline:
They expected the worst, and it apparently happened. Several scientists on the planet Mobius had hoped to create the ultimate pet. It would be cute, cuddly, and have amazing powers, that would be used for good. All they needed was some radioactive materials, which would give them the ultimate kindness power, and let it sit for 12 hours before use. But everything gets messed up, when, after a freak accident, the 2 creatures are doused with the materials before the 12 hours are up. This causes them to go haywire, and grow to gargantuous proportions. One creature, the female, is killed due to radiation poisoning (according to the storyline, letting the material settle for 12 hours will eliminate that risk altogether.) The male survives, however, and destroys the laboratory in the process. Angry about the death of his friend.

Not too much later, Dr. Eggman, having his last evil plot foiled by Sonic, stumbles upon this mutated creature. He realizes he can use the creature for the ultimate evil, and begins to plot again. He promises the creature revenge if the creature will help him out. The creature agrees, and he shares some of his radiation with Eggman, giving him powers beyond belief.

Meanwhile, Sonic takes a trip to his favorite place on Mobius for some R&R, when he hears a scream for help. Of course, he goes to answer the call, unaware of the adventure that lies ahead.

    Features:
This game will have a lot of features:
    Part Platform/Part RPG/All Action
    4 Playable characters
    And much more...

I will soon be releasing a beta, to be distributed through irc. For now, here is a screen. Enjoy.

No offence that looks very very very bad.

Well, yeah I do take offense. I don't like when people critisize and not say how I can fix it. Like I said this is just a beta and I am just starting, so it will improve over the course of time...

The maps themselves are quite plain and do you plan an using the rtp chipsets? IMO They dont really suit a sonic game you could try looking for custom ones.

Sonic is ment for Game maker or sphere.

I do admit that RM2K3 is mostly suited to RPGs, but I'm sure you could have a 2D side view game running if you work on it. By the way rubyrulez, are you sure that you're not going to make it as a side view game?

ah, sonic the hedgehog, how I love ye. Sonic is the reason I got into programming in the first place. The first working game I ever coded, was a sonic the hedgehog game. I worked on changing the formula for years, until I became very skilled in the art, and moved on to, "newer" things...

I agree with Rm2k3dude...you should make it in Sphere or GM(recomended)...

Well, I did say it would be part rpg, part platform, but you guys are all right. The only problem is that I can't get good resources anywhere. The Battle Charsets were the only decent resources I could find. I put a request in at the help thread, and once I get those resources I will start it all over again. And, you can make platform type games in RPG maker. I was actually inspired to make this by an old game I played, called Sonic RPG. It was made in RM2K and contained a platform style level. It was only a demo, though, and wasn't very long. Hopefully, I can get better resources so I can make this game, because I am dying too...

I can give you some resources. I have many sonic rpg stuff, many. If you want a link, try sfghq.emulationzone.org Then, go to resources, there is at least 100 related sonic resources there.

Cool, I'd like that! Thanks. I tried over there but they don't have anything for RM2K3 :( , but if you have resources i'd love to have them, if you could.

this will be good if you work on it. Coding sideview "platformers" in rm2k/3 is easy enough, it just takes some time. But when u get a jumping system right, (for jumping over gaps) you'll find the rest pretty easy.
yeah- don't use the rtp tiles- and try make a custom system. (don't use the rtp ones or anything like that)

If it wasn't a Sonic game it would be good, but this just doesn't look like a Sonic game.

i agree with everybody else. that screen looks way too plain, and using the rtp isnt the best idea. hopefully, you will get those resources you want because i see potential in this game.

I think it is a bit early to judge seeing as we have a lack of screens to properly judge. I am looking foreward to seeing more screens

Well, in all honesty even I admit that the game isn't as good as it can be. I think the rtp graphics totally kill it. Anyways, here are some more screens, and this project will be put on hold until I get those resources.

Screen 1 - The Title Screen. (only temporary, but I gotta admit I do like those characters.)

Screens 2&3 - The RPG half of the game.

Screen 4 - The Platform Half of the game.

I admit, the screens don't look amazing. But i love sonic.

ehh... they're ok, it's just the rtp graphics...

those face-sets on the screens... don't look good...
try THIS custom face system (mine)
