As horribly predatory as gachas are, I think that they do have a place in the mobile game department. There's no other genre in the market that offers as much reward for time investment as gachas do; they fill in the niche of MMOs except on portable devices. The 'gambling' system can even be a fun thing that allows people to relax in their downtime, much like real life gambling does.

However, like real gambling, moderation is key. Gachas are even worse in that there is no monetary gain for spending on them, so players have to be 100% sure that they can a) afford to spend that money at all and b) be content with their results, no matter how bad they may be. If you can't be confident in both of these criteria, then it's best to avoid gachas altogether as the temptation to spend, especially for players new to the genre, is too great.

Now that my own spending is much more controlled than it used to be (I would go as far as call my old spending habits as "gambling addiction"), I find myself enjoying gachas much more. I plan what and how much I will spend months in advance and stick to it; the second part is the hardest. And because of my own experiences, I think that gachas should be much more heavily regulated and be treated like regular gambling as far as I'm concerned. My biggest financial regret to this day is spending as much as I did when I could've used much less money to get a lot more out of my other hobbies (like collecting TCG, which I dropped when I got into gachas as I couldn't keep up anymore...).

TL;DR - Great concept, they fill the MMO niche for mobile gamers, but have to be much more heavily regulated in the future.

Alright so I haven't heard of this stuff before, but just a quick Google search shows that it's...shovelware? The sort of games my little sisters would play because they think it's fun, except that they don't know how to play and are always stuck on the same three screens. Not saying that there isn't a specific audience for this market, but I feel like this sort of thing is very niche and not something the general audience would be interested in.

The art style looks cute and they seem fairly popular enough (Gacha Life has 800k downloads, according to Google), but they don't draw me enough to know more about them, let alone try them all out.
