"The Silver Rose was considered one of the King's favorite ships, so when it was reported lost, he arranged a large scale search operation to retrieve it. The boat was taken back to Poland, but its now considered haunted. Nobody ever sails it anymore."

Pat led Sakura through the town to the large shipyard farther down the shoreline. Many large schooners and smaller boats were docked at this series of piers. Pat walked passed the large boats used for exploration and trade to a gloomy pier at the end. The ships here were old and dusty, falling apart.

Pat pointed to the largest of the loathed ships and said, "There she is, The Silver Rose."

Sakura looked at the forgottn schooner and cringed. Pat could see why after the story she'd told him, he knew how mad Soul Edge made people.

There was no ladder or stairs to board this ship, so Pat improvised. He extended Ni Roznia's chain and threw the blade forward. It stuck in the side of the boat's railing. Pat stepped back, his hands holding tight to Ni Roznia's hilt.

Pat ran forward and jumped, swinging over the side of the ship with his scythe's help. He threw the hilt to Sakura and yelled, "Jump on!"

Sakura jumped with a Ninja's ease, the leap was as skillful as a spider attacking its prey. She joined Pat atop the ship's deck within moments. Pat nodded, he was impressed.

"Nice jump."

"Thank you, it was part of my speed training. My clan was quite acrobatic."

Pat de-attached his blade from the side of the ship and re-attached it to its hilt. He and Sakura walked across the deck, the floor creaking below them. They reached the door to go below deck, Pat kicked open the door, bursting it off of its hinges.

"Hehehe..."

The two went to work searching through the items and furniture in the Captain's quarters. Drawers were thrown open, cabinets plundered through, books thrown aside. The ship was already a mess before but after Pat and Sakura it looked like Tornado had hit The Silver Rose's interior.

Pat left Sakura to look in the Galley, while Pat went below deck to the brig. He opened a locker to find a disturbing sight...a skeleton clutching a piece of metal. Pat sensed something about the shard, it was a piece of Soul Edge no doubt. He tore a piece of cloth off of his shirt and wrapped the fragment up in it.

Pat burst into the Galley and yelled, "Sakura! I found the piece of Soul Edge!"

"Good job, lets go take a look at it in the sunlight shall we?"

Pat nodded and the two warriors walked out into the sun. Pat held up the Soul Edge fragment into the sun's direct gaze.

A shriek was heard above them. The shriek of a raven. Pat looked above to see a raven with feathers so black it made the night sky look like the sun. The raven's eyes were red, a red that seemed to pierce your eyes.

"Thats Nightmare's raven..."

Naota Wolfblood, once one of the greatest warriors the Khir-Tan pass had ever seen, the champion of her people a time back, a warrior who had never knwn defeat and never said die... now, her reputation destroyed, her deeds forgotten, her name synonymous with the word 'traitor', she was a broken woman wandering the lands in search of a place she could call home, a place she could belong. Once so strong and proud, one who would do anything for her homeland, now a mere shell of her former self, a mere mercenary type figure barely scraping by in the outer society. Life had been hard like this for the years since Naota had been forcefully driven from her homeland...

Naota wandered, consumed by her thoughts at the moment, her warblades stained with the fresh blood of an animal she'd slain for food not too long ago. Something had recently been brought to her attention as she'd wandered the land and now she sought it... Soul Edge... she required it's power.. perhaps then, she could finally return home. All this time, she yearned to return to the home she had been driven from, but she was unable to return for her former clan and all others nearby would kill her on sight without warning. These thoughts and others troubled her, among them why she'd been driven away... Naota remembered little other than blood on her hands, the corpse of her lord before her with her very blade embedded in his chest, then fleeing, sohrtly thereafter being pursued by her bretheren who now sought vengeance for their lord's death.

Naota shook her head, trying to drive away the thoughts that troubled her so. Yes, beneath that cool, collected outer shell was mental turmoil equal to that of a madman and possibly, were she any weaker of mind, she might be mad, she may be mad even now, but in her eyes she was still sane.. then again, that's how it always looks to those who have been driven out of their mind.. She pulled her slightly worn dust brown cloak tightly around her shoulders and pulled her hood up as a cold wind hit her. This guise gave her the appearance of a mere traveler to those passing by her and few would actually suspect she was a warrior and if they did, she may be underestimated being a small framed woman weilding two blades which look as if she should be unable to lift them in any way.

On her current path no one was around her, she was alone. However, she may well mett someone soon seeing as her path may cross directly with Moriatti's given the direction she is headed which is toward the harbor, something from that direction calling to her in some way... something she feels she needs...

I glanced down at my hands as the chest began to glow.
"Ow!" I gasped as the chest became burning hot
Dropping the wooden chest that was now glowing red, the lid flew open, and the shard inside levitated out.
"What's going on?" I asked no one in particular, staring at the shard.
My head shot up to look after the shard which had suddenly made a sharp descent upwards, toward a black raven, that seemed very out of place against the blue sky.
"Hey!" I shouted "That's mine!"
As it tightly clamped it's talons around the shard it flew off with my only evidence...
I scowled and trampled after it.

Fisher Man's POV--
"Hehe, think I'd give something like that away for free if I didn't know what it could do?" I snickered.
Once the Falcon's seen someone, it won't forget about them too soon!

"Nightmare? Who is that?," Sakura asked curiously. From the name, he sounded like quite a dangerous person, and Patrick had made seeing his pet raven sound like a bad thing, meaning he could be watching them. But she did not understand why Nightmare would want to do that.

"Um... does this person called Nightmare have anything to do with the Soul Edge that I'm trying to destroy?" Perhaps that was the case. If he wanted to keep the Soul Edge intact, that would be a reason for him sending his familiar to spy on two warriors whose beliefs were different from his own.

"**** bird!"

Pat swung Ni Roznia at the raven, trying to take the bird down. Each swing was unsuccesful, the chained blade barely missed each time. The raven flew toward town, trying to flee from its attacker.

Pat leaped off of the ships side in pursuit of the devilish avian, Sakura followed. Pat continued throwing his chained blade at the raven, his miss record mounting. Sakura had a confused expression on her face, she didn't know who Nightmare was, she wouldn't understand.

"Let me try to kill that bird for you. We should probably stop this Nightmare person....," Sakura said, reaching into the small sack tied at her waist. She pulled out a Shuriken- a small metal blade in the shape of a star, and firmly grasped it in her left hand.

Jumping high up into the air, she thrusted her left arm forward and flicked her wrist, releasing the small metal star and sending it forward, flying very quickly towards the black bird. As her feet touched the ground once again, she added softly, "I don't know what you have against this person, but because he seems evil, I shall help you bring him down as part of my journey."

I saw many weapons being thrown at the bird and I sweatdropped as I ran after it.
"All this ruckus for a bird." I said as the bird avoided the well aimed shuriken.
"Don't hit it!" I shouted at the two "It might drop the shard!"
As the bird began to fly out of the harbor I felt my brow furrow as I angrily gripped my daggers, angry that I had been outsmarted by a bird.

The pitch-black raven fell from the sky, landing like a falling apple. Sakura swiftly removed the throwing star from the bird's side. Pat looked into the fallen bird's crimson eyes. He may have been hallucinating, but he believed he saw Nightmare glaring at him within the eye. Pat blinked, and Nightmare was gone. The crimson eyes seemed to rot away instantly, leaving nothingness in their sockets.

Pat frowned, then sighed.

"Nightmare is Soul Edge's slave. He is a bulky knight in azure armor with demonic eyes beneath his helmet. He is an eternal servant to the evil sword and is commanded by the force that lies within the sword. He feeds the blade souls, he is a murderer of thousands. The raven you just killed was controlled by him, to seek individual pieces of Soul Edge."

Pat looked at the piece of Soul Edge the raven had dropped. He picked it up with his hand wrapped in cloth. He wrapped the piece of Soul Edge up and stuck it in a pouch on his vest.

"He needs the blade to be completed to start his devouring of souls. We can't kill Nightmare entirely, we can only destroy Soul Edge."

"Oh... Then I believe we must hasten to destroy the Soul Edge, if we wish to stop this Nightmare man," Sakura commented. In just one day, she had acquired two new foes: Moriatti and Nightmare. However, it seemed that after many months, her quest was finally getting somewhere, as she was beginning to recover pieces of the Soul Edge.

And then she noticed the newcomer, who seemed to want to claim the shard for her own. Sakura was not sure of why, and she was afraid the girl, even though she seemed kind and youthful, might also be a new foe of hers. "We need this shard.... to destroy the Soul Edge.... I do not wish to fight you, but if you do not want this evil blade destroyed, then I must. You seem kind, so please come to our side."

"Nightmare is a peculiar foe, he'll be difficult to defeat, even more difficult to locate. He may be so weak at the moment he may not even have a sufficient body. We'll need all the help we can get."

The only time you could really engage Nightmare in a battle was when he had an incomplete Soul Edge. When he had too few pieces, could never be found. When Soul Edge was complete, he was too powerful for any force to take on...except Soul Calibur.

Pat held up the soul edge shards. He looked into them, and felt as if an invisible hand had grabbed ahold of his heart. A voice in his head was whispering, Join me Patrick...I can give you the power to destroy Nightmare. You can be a better servant than Siegfried ever was.

Pat immediately thrust the soul edge shards into Sakura's hands. He said in a frustrated and painful voice, "Take them...I can't stand to hold them."

OOC:Sweatdrop. Do you know what the real nightmare would do if you killed his raven? And if you read my post clearly you would have realized I said it avoided the shuriken, but there's not evidence that I saw of that Sakura threw another one. -sigh-

IC:"Destroyed?" I asked.
Wow. Talk about superstitious. Waaaay more than me at least.
I shook my head and said "I was given that shard by a fisherman. It belongs to me. I'm nothing but a researcher, finding the shards of the sword of soul edge to stufy them, and find out just what makes them so overpowering."
I glanced at the dead bird and unclenched my hands on my daggers, which spiked out from behind me.
"I've studied the sword since I fist learned of it, and discovered that Nightmare is not resurrecting the sword, but instead he's also looking for a way to destroy it. Once you gather the peices they will form a sort of fiery figure (inferno) Destroy this figure, and the sword will be granted to you, for you to decide what to do, and how to destroy the sword in your case." What a mouthful!
"I have learned that Nightmare thinks the weilder of Soul Calibur murdered his father." I said looking at the shard in Sakura's hand "And that sword supposedly summons Soul Edge."

OOC: I haven't played Soul Calibur or Soul Edge in forever. Excuse me if Nightmare/Sigfried's history is incorrect. *Goes to hook up playstation and retune knowladge of Sigfried turning into Nightmare.

Sitting there like nothing happened, Link was interested on what was happening. THe Katana she weilded was amazing! And the fact it could slice through his body like it did. Then with all the other drama happening he stood and walked out of the Pub. Looks like I am goind ot have strong allies and enemies. He thought to himself laughing.

Moriatti turned his head.
Far down that path, further than normal human eyes could see, there was a woman.
He felt that she had violent urges towards him.
He smiled.
"Today just seems to be my day...." He muttered, but he was by no means saddened by this. The ninja's katana had left him drained, and curious.
But curiousity could wait until her throat was just below his blade, then she would tell him, just before he cut away her breath.
But that was a different battle, he would need souls to do this.
He turned down the road, and at a quickened pace, headed towards his new enemy.

OOC: Naoko chan, at the end of Soul Calibur 2, Nightmare and Siegfried were seperated into two seperate entitys. Nightmare still lives to serve Soul Edge, and my RP is far enough ahead of the games so that Siegfried the human would dead by now.

~~~~~~~~~
"The sword is the physical embodiment of the Inferno my dear. Nightmare still trys to feed the demon's hunger for souls, his seperate self Siegfried died years ago. Soul Calibur is the opposite however, it is a holy sword of purification, the only known cure to Soul Edge's evil."
Pat had pushed the shards away before, but it seemed like they were calling him. He ignored the feeling, it was too weak to be affecting him. He started talking again, "Are you going with us or not? We have to get going if we want to destroy Soul Edge, we have to get going to find the shards."
Naota could feel someone approaching her... she tore herself away from her thoughts and looked up and down the path she was headed. She could not see the one who headed toward her, but she could feel his thoughts toward her... malice, unthinking, unfeeling malice... She knew it was too late to avoid confrontation given the nature of this strong desire to kill, so she would have to fight... oh how she did not want to fight needlessly, but to defend herself she must.
Naota stayed her present course on the path and shifting her shoulders slightly severed the bonds which held her two warblades and the weapons dropped to the ground from beneath her cloak, the hilts just high enough for her to reach. She flipped her cloak up behind her, grabbed both of them, and flipped them up behind her arms so now they were in her hands, but the blade tips were just a little above her shoulders, the flats touching her skin. She had performed this process as quickly as she could move and without error, completing the motion before she ever saw the man on the path, but shortly thereafter, she saw him and was ready now.
Naota stopped walking as soon as her opponent came into view and studdied him carefully. She noted the terrain as well for any advantageous or hazardous areas and found none, only the vast, rolling plains stretched as far as she could see. She knew this would not end well, perhaps one of them would end up dead, but then again it mgiht be a stalemate or something of the sort... whichever it was, a few quiet words escaped Naota's lips as she stood waiting.. soon it would begin...
Leaping in front of Naota and drawing his sword, Link grinned at his oppenent. "You might want to stop if you don't feel like getting killed." Link stood his ground. "I know that your not human, neither am I. I am Link, and elf from the land of Hyrule. Now I will become your killer!" I said leaping into the air!
"Alright I'll come with you. Most of the text books I've read are very old, so I didn't believe that they would be very accurate." I said shrugging.
"But I still think that Nightmare won't be happy about his raven!" I said in a sing-song voice, tucking my daggers into their sheaths.
"The shards are trying to find each other no?" I asked pointing to the shard "So now that we've got one, we should be able to find the other one..."
OOC:4 lines randall, 4 lines!
"I am glad to know that you are on our side," Sakura said to the girl as she bowed politely, while taking the shards from Pat, as he had requested. "Oh, and do allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sakura Takahashi. I come from the northern mountains of Japan."
As Sakura was speaking, the shards of the Soul Edge began to peer into her soul.
We cannot affect her..... her soul is too pure for us to taint in evern the slightest...... We must do everything in our power to prevent her from laying her hands on Soul Calibur.....
Sakura was a bit confused, as she could swear she had just heard a voice inside her head, but decided to ignore it. Perhaps it was just some of the townspeople talking not too far off.
"Nightmare most likely won't care about the raven, he can simply get another one. He has seen us, and thats all that matters."
Pat inhaled deeply, and exhaled likewise. He spoke again, "My name is Patrick, I hale from the country-side of the wasteland known as Poland. If we are hunting Soul Edge, we should head South-east, to Bohemia. There have been sightings of Lizardmen around there. Lizardmen are the Soul Edge hunting servants of the greek priest Kunpaetku, and their activity is only seen in times where Soul Edge has been active."
OOC: Bohemia is located in Modern-day Slovakia and the Czech Republic
Moriatti looked at his new elven oppotent.
"Ah... You should not have done that, now, I shall harvest your soul too, since you no longer have the Masamune around to protect you..." He smiled, drawing the Muramasa.
However, behind him, the beast know as Necrid also rose.
"You have the Soul Edge." The monster roared, Moriatti stepped to the side, just in-time to avoid an axe's chop that would've cleaved him in half.
"Once again, the odds are not in my favor. Fine then, I needed some souls..." He prepared himself in a fighting stance.
