NEXT POEM!!!
Is This War...?
I awoke too early to be allowed,
For nightmares haunted my mind.
Images of death, fire, blood,
And enemies who weren't too kind.
Still in my bed robes, I roused the troops.
I told them to dress in steel.
They were rather obedient, to my surprise,
And even skipped their meals.
They quickly lined up outside the doors,
Stone-faced, for God's sake.
I told them to stay there, locked in their stance,
Until the princess was waked.
I ran up the stairs, my helmet to armpit,
My sword jiggling in its case.
I ran fast and swift up to my room
But still kept a nice steady pace.
"Princess!" I cried into the room.
"Are you still well?"
Her head rasied from the bed.
She groaned and would not tell.
I went to her side and held her hand.
"Princess, do you hear me?"
SHe opened her eyes and smiled warmly.
"My name is Sophia, you see."
She touched my cheek with her dainty fingers,
The heat escaping my face.
I pulled her hand away and said,
"I must leave without a trace."
I kissed her then right on the lips.
She leapt back in surprise.
"My name is Seda." I told her.
"And you I shall never despise."
I left without a last look at her face.
I imagined her to fume.
But I hadn't time for love affairs!
This war of protection had to resume.
I mounted my steed and lead on the horde,
Viciously galloping forth.
I arched my back and picked up speed
Heading to the west of north.
A sea of black figures upon the horizon
Told us that our foe had arrived.
How should we face them? What should we do?
That was for me to decide.
We came face-to-face--
The East and the West.
The fear that welled up inside me...
To face THIS was the test.
I thought I heard my father's voice
As the world had seemed to cease.
"Do not worry, Seda, my son...
Your task is to defend the East."
I scowled across the border
Dividing our two lands...
Scowled into the eyes of a coward.
The King of West was the man.
With a downward strike of the sword,
The sun reflecting off steel,
I signalled this War to commence at once.
To the West I would never kneel!
Yesh, the War begins to help his poor girlyfriend.
