Anybody here ever feel iffy about starting a game over? Every time I think about starting a new game, I have an inner battle with myself. It's like thinking that all that work is for nothing, but at the same time it's nice to refresh. I think after you've beaten the game and there is nothing left to do (*COUGH COUGH* RUBY *COUGH COUGH* SAPPHIRE *COUGH COUGH*) that it's only natural to want to. But then there are other points where I'm playing a game I hadn't played in maybe a year or two, and then I don't even know where I am plotwise, so I start over. Perhaps it's because I've lost touch with that "older" version of me.

Anyways, anybody else ever feel iffy about starting over? I'm feeling that way about HG/SS now...

Yeah, I know I do, because when I got stuck with Karen in the Elite Four in HeartGold, I restarted because I knew I wouldn't be able to beat her. But I felt bad about losing all my Pokemon that I trained up, so I traded my powerful ones to Platinum.

Sometimes I resart on my games (I usually trade some pokemon to a "Storage" game though first...that way they can keep living on...)

For some reason though I found it easier to restart when I was younger...I don't know why, but every time I want to restart, I HAVE to get my "team" off of the game first...

I have a storage game for each generation, except for gen I and II. I don't restart Silver though. I have a bunch of crap on there. I have an extra Emerald and Diamond for storage in gens III and IV though. My Platinum also has some good stuff that I plan on EV training since that game is only for my competitive Pokemon, so it's not getting erased either. When I feel like I'm done with a file, I'll trade the goodies over to storage and start over. Lately, there haven't been a lot of goodies, so I just go on and start over. With HGSS, stuff usually ends up on Platinum. I don't mind restarting them because I don't care about legendaries, I actually don't like Kanto that much, and I do Battle Frontier on Platinum because my Pokemon on there are way more capable. So once I trade over the good stuff to Platinum, I'm out of things to do and it's okay to start over. I find HGSS a much more enjoyable game to just play through and not store things on.

I always find it hard to start a new game. I just think about the time I spent on it. This is the reason why I haven't restarted HGSS yet. Though I probably will do evenually.

I regret restarting Diamond, as I did it the day I (unbeknowns to me beforehand) obtained Platinum, and therefore could never play Diamond again.

I've restarted SoulSilver and Emerald many times. SoulSilver because I'm indecisive about my team and it's hard to train.

Emerald because I cba to complete it.

I easily restart LeafGreen coz it means I can go through and get some good pokemon. And despite starting on Hoenn, I love Kanto. Although Johto is best.

I'm definitely doubtful about starting from scratch with Pokémon games. I usually have a storage game, which presently is Platinum. It's just because I waste spend hundreds of hours on the games, and I'm worried that all of it will disappear, as well as my countless valuable Pokémon that take FOREVER to transfer .____.

I mainly play on emulators anyway, so I rarely have to actually replace a savefile, even though I DO replace savefiles most of the time.
But, some years ago, that was different, and I never restarted before trading anything of value over to another game.

i restart almost every week lol. thats how long it takes me to finish a round...

Sometimes. I actually restarted my Emerald the other day, and before I did I kept going over it in my mind whether or not I should.

But yeah I feel the same way. I don't restart my games a lot because of it.

Unless I'm doing someing with the game (like filling the pokedex), I will jump on the oppertunity to raise Pokemon that I haven't raised yet. It's a fun oppertunity to get a fresh start.

I hate restarting games and losing the pokemon Ive become so attached to. With the newer games I usually end up getting both so when could be my fun file to restart whenever I want,.

I force myself to do it. Regret it after.

And through pure motivation, I train harder to re-obtain the team I had before, YET STRONGER!

I restart a lot, but I always put my trained up Pokemon into a storage game (mines is Diamond) like I see most of you do too. Even though I get bored of the story I always make up little sub stories too, like not evolving any of my pokemon or pretending I'm a Gym leader in training etc. just to make it a little different each time :)

I get very, very attached to my Pokémon. ._.; The only games I can restart easily are the ones I never really got into in the first place (FRLG, Emerald, etc.) but the thought of restarting Diamond or Platinum or HG makes me feel anxious, haha. I just like my teams and I know I could transfer them over to another game to restart but... then I'd never use them because I already have a team for that game. And I could never box my teams long-term. ;_; It's really lame but I just... can't do it.

I'm already budgeting slightly to get Soul Silver so that when I get the itch to replay HGSS, I won't have to worry about restarting my HG. :/

ya i have some problem restarting my games but if its because of the pokemon i have an extra diamond just for storage. i dont think i will ever restart my original hg/ss games mostly because of the pokewalker events that i would loose. so i will probably buy another one once they are cheep at gamestop just for playing over and over again.

O yeah. It causes quite the inner turmoil deciding to restart or not. I usually shy away from it, simply because I don't have the time to go catching all the pokes again:(
