Update 1

I decided to go ahead and update what little progress I've had. I named my character after me, Jamie. Then I went and got my starter, Bulbasaur. I'm not going to lie. I made it quite difficult for myself with the Pokemon I picked. It will be awhile before I can even get my second Pokemon. Oh well, too late now. My trusty Bulbasaur can handle whatever we face for now. Oh, did I mention my Bulbasaur was female? That's pretty rare for me, a female starter. I then battled my Rival, Gary and almost lost with only 1 HP left. Yikes. Then I went up Route 1 and got Prof. Oak's parcel from the Pokemart. I delivered it and went on towards Viridian Forest. After walking around for two minutes, I realised I forgot to buy supplies. After heading back to Viridian City and doing some extreme shopping too exciting to even type, I went back to Viridian Forest. It was mostly uneventful, with some trainer battles here and there. Bulbasaur leveled up like a boss, though. I'm now in Pewter City. I could easily walk over to the gym and defeat Brock with Bulbasaur, but I don't feel like it at the moment.

Alright, thanks. I'll probably start it somewhere this afternoon (after thinking about which Pokémon I'm going to use. But about the Shiny.... In the more than 10 years that I've been playing Pokémon, I've never met a Shiny in the wild [/sad] and I was wondering if I could have a back-up plan for that one. If I find one, I'll use the shiny and move the back-up plan aside. But I find it highly unlikely that I will find one... =/

Since you're playing a rom, why not cheat to find a shiny?

As for me, I'm dropping out. No time+ no motivation is killing me. I should've done this on a rom, so I would've been done a LOT faster, before the busy time...

I know just started this challenge, but I'm trying to finish it before the year ends. So I'm shifting into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE.
I quickly went to go destroy Brock's gym with Bulbasaur and was rewarded with the Boulderbadge. After a quick heal at the Pokemon Center and some more extreme shopping, I headed on down to Route 3. Bulbasaur evolved after one battle. I entered Mt. Moon, but soon left since Ivysaur was running out of PP for her moves. After re-entering Mt. Moon, I preceded to find the exit. By the time I left Mt. Moon, Ivysaur was very overleveled. Level 23, I believe. That's almost twice the levels of most of the Trainer's Pokemon were in Mt. Moon. Arriving in Cerulean City, I first headed for the Pokemon Center. After a quick heal, I remembered something. My rival. There's a battle with just up ahead, near the Nugget Bridge. With experience from previous playthroughs, I knew for sure he had two Pokemon that I would have trouble with. A Pidgeotto and a Charmeleon. That's a big issue, even with Ivysaur being a bit overleveled. She is still my only Pokemon. I decided to go defeat the gym for some extra training first. With Ivysaur, I easily defeated Misty and was rewarded with the Cascadebadge. I went ahead and decided to go battle my rival, Gary. And I saved just before and ended the game.

Something odd happened to me, though... something that has never happened in the past 10 years or so that I'm playing Pokémon. I knew it existed but... When I got to Lilycove City, I absentmindedly walked to the Pokémon Center. I suddenly notice that Nurse Joy tells me something other than the usual "may I have your Pokémon". Turns my entire team is infected with Pokérus. WUT?!

On a side note, if you know where I get all the nicknames for my Pokémon... this is mighty funny actually. |D; Rasetsu ahoy!

Iris is annoying as heck. Focus Sash on that damn Haxorus is insanely annoying because she ALWAYS uses Dragon Dance first BT HOWEVER I did finish the thing. Yayz.

Final update. This was a fun challenge, and it helped me connect to Pokemon I never used before. Well here is my team entering the Hall of Fame!

DJ Wild. I only used a Raticate once before, in a Nuzlocke. But even that Raticate matched you. For being only a sub-par Pokemon wit no moves above 70 power, you still destroyed everything. I would consider you more as a gift, rather than coal.

Tiny Tim. I named you after a pretty underrated musician, rather than the Charles Dickens character. I used to hate Tangela (The evolution more) due to one of the worst movepools, but I warmed up to you. I made the most of your movepool, and it completely wrecked my enemies. Probably now, my least favorite is Delcatty.

Captain. My dear starter. Your name actually came forth from a dream (though the name was originally for a Walrein). You had some great stats, with a great moveset. Probably my favorite Pokemon on my run.

Toxin. I regret wanting to have Nidorino over you. You had an amazing HP stat, and tanked through all your foes. Plus the fact you can't get poisoned made you an even more amazing Pokemon.

I couldn't get you highlighted Frostbite, sorry. You were the last member in my party, only joining after Blaine's gym, so I never really got to use you much. But what I did use of you was pretty awesome, with steel wing handling your most crucial weakness of rock.

Crap, couldn't get Mimien in time. Anyways, Mimien had a very wide moveset, handling a lot of types. Combined with great special stats, and the boosted experience, you ended up being the strongest member on my team.

And if you're wondering about Mewtwo, forget it, too much work.
