Story speculation

Some things I'd like to see:


  • No "evil team uses legendary to take over the world" plot. Unless Team Flare are returning as the main villains, I'd rather these games go back to a more Gen 1/2 style plot and have Solgaleo and Lunala play side roles more akin to Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Suicune. Plots about evil teams using legendaries to take over the world have completely run their course by now (as XY painfully showed).

  • Lillie as the Champion. We might finally have that long-awaited female Blue or Silver with her, so why not pull a twist similar to RBY and have her appear at the end as Champion? Champions have fallen into a similar rut as the evil teams, basically recycling the same "friendly mentor figure who helps you against evil team" formula since GSC, and the poor reception of Diantha shows that this formula has also run its course.

  • No third mascot to go with Solgaleo and Lunala. Mascot trios are yet another formula that has worn out its welcome, especially when you consider how poorly the last one (Zygarde) was handled. I'd rather GF do something more unique and link Solgaleo/Lunala to Zygarde (and Xerneas/Yveltal) than crank out yet another mascot trio that will likely also have a sloppy, badly-written story.

  • Kalos as the postgame. Yeah, I still want these games to be XY's own GSC, and I've been waiting ages for another game to have a previous region as the postgame, anyways. This franchise needs fewer reboots and remakes and more sequels, IMO.
