I'm not sold on it being great simply because it's a Supporter. It's kind of a neat idea, but I'd much rather have this on a Pokemon as an Ability rather than wasting space that could be used for better supporters that make the deck faster. I want you to sell me the idea of how great and useful it is, if you think it's great, simply because I don't see it.
 
It is a great card for Energy accelaration if you dont run Emboar (which many Fire decks may not). It's been proven day in and day out as a reliable supporter late game to power up your pokemon. Juniper and all are great for drawing, i get that, but this is great for energy accelaration.

I just realized that Juniper is early game energy acceleration, while Blacksmith is plenty okay late, at least if you're not behind in prizes. But it's pretty exclusive to Fire decks.
