There are berries you just have to look very hard. Try pressing 'A' when you come to some dark pathches of ground.

The easiest way to find them is by using the item finder,then pressing A around that area.

It was like that for me too, bet then I looked even more there and found some berries!

They're in the dark patches of grass. You can also use Pokemon with Pick-Up. You shold also use Simple Questions next time.
