Summon Night: Swordcraft Story

This is mostly an attempt to find fans of the series plus maybe get others into it because this series is pretty awesome.

Introduction

This is yet another one of my attempts at an LP. Originally I was thinking of doing a Pokemon Yellow or Moemon or *insert some other GBA/GBC Pokemon game here* LP. However, because there are so many amazing series out there that aren't well known due to the fact that they aren't advertised everywhere and are only available as imports or can only be found at gaming stores, I decided to do an LP of one of those instead.

So I chose the Summon Night series. Long story short, your character has a summon creature assist them in battle and throughout the story. You only have one summon creature though, so it isn't like Final Fantasy where you can summon a bajillion different creatures. Swordcraft Story is also shorter storyline-wise compared to Swordcraft Story 2, and Twin Age is for the DS so I didn't feel like doing that.

Prologue

So much dialogue in so little time.

We start off with an unknown voice. Is it a ghost?

What voice I'm trying to sleep.

That voice better not have been calling me an A-cup :(

Nonono, not "make up", but "may cup". I guess it's a cup you only use in May or something.

NO NOW LET ME SLEEP DAMMIT.

...OK maybe you do have authority over me. But I still won't wear makeup :(

This item is much more important than my mother's well-being, so I picked it up first.

Time to choose the dialogue! Of course, I continued with the amnesiac gimmick.

Spoiler: ...OK I won't spoil it for you just yet. Except I probably already did.

Before we enter the tower, this is what the shop looks like in the game. Sells recovery items, strength/defense/agility-enhancing equipment (you can only equip one of those), and sometimes materials to make weapons out of!

Forgot to screenshot it this time, but you can only save at these blue save sword thingies. You can also Suspend your game too, but I'm not doing that. Anyways, the files here were ones I started a while ago.

Overwriting the second file because I fail in it.

And now I'm done with the Prologue! So, without further ado...

WHO SHOULD BE MY SUMMON CREATURE?

There are four summon creatures to choose from. Each specializes in one of the four elements in-game (there later becomes five, but for now there's four). They are as follows:

Zantek, a mecha who specializes in thunder spells. It speaks in nothing but random characters but your character can still understand it anyways.

Rasho, an oni ("ogre", "demon", you decide the translation) who specializes in fire spells. He's a bit of a punk but is kinder towards your mother.

Sugarette/Sugar, a fairy-like creature who specializes in water spells. She wants to marry the character despite your character's gender.

Kutty, a beast type creature who specializes in wind spells. He's like a Pokemon in a way that he only says his name.

A little while later, I'll be asked some questions that'll ultimately decide who my summon creature will be. I already know how to answer each question to get all four, and rather than answer honestly, I'll be answering based on which summon creature was most popular. If no one makes any suggestions, though, then I probably will end up answering honestly ><; Anyways, I hope y'all like what I have so far and will follow me to see what happens next!

Oh. My. God. This game is love, I just love it. I finished it a bunch of times, it never gets old for me. But the second one was meh though.

I always chose Zantech as my summon creature. Its so awesome in my opinion, so go for Zantech!

Oh. My. God. This game is love, I just love it. I finished it a bunch of times, it never gets old for me. But the second one was meh though.

Personally, I love the characters from Swordcraft Story 2 much more than the ones in this game, but I kinda like the storyline from the first one a bit more.

Anyways, after being considerably lazy, here's Chapter 1!

Chapter 1

In which we learn that our protagonist can understand the language of beasts.

This is the dating sim aspect of the game, though I'm not sure if there are alternate endings in this one. There definitely are in the second one.

...But I don't really want to use a sword, even if that's the first weapon I have to make anyhow...

Notes

Note 1: You actually can go to various dimensions in the second game, just saying.

Note 2: One thing that stinks about this game is that you can't enhance your weapon (if I recall correctly), which you can do in the second game. At some point you can attach three materials to your weapon, and if you attach three of a certain material you can use a special attack that attacks the opponent's weapon rather than their HP.

Now, before I end this spoiler, I would like to ask this: Which two weapons should I have? You can have up to three weapons equipped, and I already want a Drill for Gurren Lagann references. Plus, Drills are freaking awesome in this series!

The choices are as follows:

Sword: Fast at hitting, not so special though.

Axe: Slow, but can charge for a stronger attack and can strike upwards. Also the best when it comes to defense.

Spear: Can also charge, and it's best for hitting air-bound opponents plus far away ones. Also somewhat slow and definitely not as powerful as the Axe.

Fists: Faster than the Sword, but these also aren't so special, if you ask me.

If all else fails, I'm likely to go with the Axe and Spear, but I wanna hear what others think :3
