I just finished the second volume of the ToS manga. It's pretty true to the game.

Manga? I'd like to hear more about it. Scanslations, or do you actually have it? Maybe I'd be able to get it too.
 
It's not in English, and I don't think there are any plans to bring it to North America. I imported mine. And I'm still missing the last... two volumes? There are five, right? XD I only have up to three.
 
I thought there were only four. I'm probably wrong though.

I read some of the second volumes on a ToS fansite call "Village of Mizuho" or something like that... I googled the rest of it <3
 
I wouldn't mind if it's in Japanese. I'll admit I don't know much, but I'm willing and wanting to learn. Not just for anime/manga, but I'd like to go to Japan someday.
 
There are five volumes, plus an "Extra Load", with little stories (I love them!)
First one is about Kratos losing the locket and Lloyd picking it up, and the discussion that follows (that's during the Regeneration Journey part). My favourite.
Second is about Colette's 12 birthday. Sad and sweet. And so cute.
Third story is about Genis trying to find a present for Presea (that happens in Z-skits in the game).
The one after is the sidequest when Raine is sick and Genis and Mithos go find some medecine in th eFooji Mountain.
After that, it's about Zelos' childhood. I hate his mother, by the way. and Seles' one too. That's the most moving one T_T
And the last one is about baby Lloyd being found by Dirk after his mother's death. He's soooooo cute, but it's so sad how he wants his mommy and daddy and thinks they abandonned him T_T

Hey, I remember doing that for another forum, so I'm posting it here too!
That's the translation of a track in the Drama CD (for those who don't know about it, it's a kind of audio story. It's about Lloyd and Colette in their quest for Exspheres, and the other characters reminicing. That's a good way to know more about their past). So, being a big Kratos fan, I decided to translate his track (I had some help from a japanese friend who I later converted to ToS, eheh), and share it with other fans.

They keep going from present time to memory... I hope it's not too confusing.
Oh, and Kratos is on Derris Kharlan (remember, it's after the game), but apparently he can communicate with the new world, since he's talking with Yuan)
I had fun doing Anna during the fight XD

Tales of Symphonia ~ A long time ago. CD 3 - track 5 : "To Protect"

Yuan : The wind is getting stronger. A storm is coming. Do you feel it, Kratos?
Kratos : Yes, I feel it, Yuan.
Yuan : Would you say it is blue and beautiful?
Kratos : Yes.
Yuan : I cannot think like that.
Kratos : Really?
Yuan : It is true that there is blue and beautiful things on this planet, but things that are black and unpleasant outnumber them.
Hate, pride, anger, foolishness, frivolous desires... They taint the sky, the wind, the earth, everything. These vices are the nature of human beings.
This is what I came to believe. Truth is, humans are still killing and fooling each other.
Kratos : Hey Yuan, have you never considered the contrary? The former purify the latter. Do you think you can believe that?
Yuan : You've changed, Kratos... You didn't say such things at that time.
Kratos : Yes... I guess you're right...
Yuan : Anna...
Kratos : Yes, Anna.

*music* - *background sound : rain*

Anna... The woman in who an Exsphere was implented at a Human Ranch. And also a woman who never lost her brightness and spirit. The only woman I have ever loved.

Kratos : It can't be... Anna, is that you?
-grrrrrrr
Kratos : S-stop!!! *sword out*
~struggle : sword vs claws(?)~
Kratos : I can't... Anna, open your eyes! Anna!!

When the Desians took her Exsphere, Anna lost her human body along with her soul. I didn't know what to do.

-grrrrrrrrr!!
Kratos : Super Lightning Blade! ("Fuuraijinken" sounds better...)

Kratos : No! Anna, I'm sorry! I...
-grrooooorrrrrr *attacks*
Kratos : Aaaaaaaaaaah *is sent flying (i think) and lands painfully; seems to drop his sword* Uuughhh

*backgroud sound : Lloyd, crying*

Through my fading counciousness, I vaguely heard a baby's cries.

Kratos : Lloyd...

*backgroud sound : Lloyd crying, Anna growling*

Anna was holding Lloyd, and was trying to throw him off the cliff.
Did I even have a choice? To kill the woman I love, or to just watch/let my beloved son die. But still, I had to make a choice.

*music stops*
Kratos : Goodbye. *kills her*

*flashback* - *background sound : Lloyd laughing happily*

Anna : Look, Kratos.
Kratos : I wonder what makes him look so happy...
Anna : I think... that he realizes it.
Kratos : Hm?
Anna : That this world is so blue, so beautiful, such a wonderful place...
Kratos : Blue...?
Anna : Beautiful.
Kratos : Really... Yes, you are right, Anna. This world is beautiful, just because you and Lloyd live in there. Here, I have a reason to go on.
Anna : Kratos.
Kratos : Yes.
Anna : Always together? Always... Always... Always...

From that very moment I killed the one I loved, the world, to me, was no longer blue, nor beautiful.

*background sound : water (rain or waves?), footsteps (Yuan)*

Yuan : So you were there after all, Kratos.
Kratos : Oh, Yuan. I saw you coming.
Yuan : I didn't expect less of you. *sword out* You seem to see everything.
Kratos : If you say so...
Yuan : Every being will become lifeless. This will be the result of Mithos' project of a "Thousand Year Kingdom". I don't care about what will happen to all those foolish humans. It might be the only way to seal humans' hatred.
Kratos : I don't care.
Yuan : However... this project means that Martel's soul will be tied forever to the Great Seed. She will continue to live in suffering. I cannot allow that.
Help me, Kratos. Release Origin's seal. Doing that will allow us to help Martel's soul, make the Giant Tree grow, and revive this planet. Am I wrong?
Or... do you think that Mithos is right?
Kratos : Who knows...
Yuan : I don't plan on saying I am right. But, since we cannot have anything perfect, we should at least try to gain the best out of it. Think about it. Kratos!!
Kratos : I don't care! I don't have anything to protect in this world anymore. To me, now, everything has lost its colours and brightness.
Yuan : Kratos!
Kratos : Nothing matters anymore. Nothing at all. I don't care. I don't care anymore.
Yuan : *sheats sword* There is no worth in killing you now. *leaves* Kratos, you are... already dead.

*back to the present*

Yuan : "Everything has lost its colours and brightness." You said that at that time. And now, you are telling me the contrary.
And I can see that you are now more lively than at that time. That boy who changed you, Lloyd, is he really all you needed? (~was he all it took you to change...)
Kratos : Hhm... maybe that's just how parents are... How's that? You are on the same planet. Could you practice with him at least once? (>>basically, he's telling him to keep an eye on Lloyd for him... how about doing it yourself, Kratos? :D)
Yuan : You seem to have become lazy. (or something like that... there's no way to find an exact translation for that one...)
Kratos : Haha.
Yuan : Hahaha.
Both : Hahahahahaha.

Hmm, how did I not notice this. Anyways, its pretty cool. I've never heard of any of this stuff until I came here.
 
I'd like to join!

I was playing Tales of Symphonia having a grand ol' time. I was about to get to the Final Boss battle when... our Gamecube died. I was very upset. By the time it got fixed, I had moved onto other games, and I still haven't beat it. Didn't get very far into Abyss as I bought it right before I left for college. I did bring it with me, but I barely have time to play.

My favorite characters are Presea and Zelos. <3
 
I watched the Symphonia OVA yesterday, the fight between Kratos and Sheena was pretty cool, even though I expected it to be longer. I'm surprised they got so far in the story in just one episode, but it's only gonna be four episodes long, right? So I guess it does make sense.

Altogether, probably about 250 hours. My Gamecube is about 3 hours away, though, so I can't check. D: I haven't started the PS2 version yet either.
