Team Spikes
Introduction
This is my newest UU team I've been using on the ladder. It's a simple offense team which benefits enormously from Spikes + SR support. I've found a few problems with the team which I will list below and hopefully you guys can help me and yes this one should have better descriptions.
__________
Problems
- SubCMRaikou is a significant problem for me, usually I have to sacrifice Tomb to beat it and if Tomb is down I have problems.
-If I lose Honchkrow then bulky Grass-types (Venusaur mainly) give me a
lot of trouble as well.

Under the Microscope
Omastar @ Leftovers
Nature : Bold
EV : 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
Omastar leads my team and his role is simply to lay down SR and hopefully a layer or 2 of Spikes if not then come back later with his handy resistances and try lay them down. He fares well against most common leads, EV's were tweaked to give him a little bulk on the special side. Personally this has helped me take random special attacks from walls much better and in matches has allowed me another layer of Spikes.
Spiritomb @ Leftovers
Nature : Impish
EV : 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD
- Taunt
- Sucker Punch
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
I got to keep Spikes and SR on the field so Spiritomb is my spin-blocker preventing people from spinning away my vaulable Spikes + SR. Spiritomb also serves as a check to many physical threats running since he can burn them and make then much easier for the rest of the team. However I have noticed this particular moveset can be setup on quite easily if I mispredict so any changes to him are appreciated.
Sceptile @ Choice Specs
Nature : Timid
EV : 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
- Leaf Storm
- Energy Ball
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
SpecsTile is an absolute monster, I use him early-game to leave massive dents and lategame I can use him to pick off stuff. He's also extremely useful for smashing some physical walls which lets the rest of the team sweep much easier.
Honchkrow @ Life Orb
Nature : Adamant
EV : 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Brave Bird
- Night Slash
- Sucker Punch
- Superpower
Honchkrow is such a great Pokemon, I use him mid-game to wreck absolute havoc. His role for the team is to weaken everything and to hopefully break a some of the opponent's walls to make it easier for Gallade. Honchkrow is definetely my MVP.
Milotic @ Leftovers
Nature : Bold
EV : 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 Spe
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Recover
Milotic is a great Pokemon, she packs a handful of resistances which help the team plus she can check some threats which really give me some problem otherwise(RP Rhyperior) and also kinda helps with rain teams. Though she is great I am considering Quagsire over her to kinda help with Raikou.
Gallade @ Life Orb
Nature : Jolly
EV : 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Night Slash / X-Scissor
- Shadow Sneak
Gallade is my cleanup sweeper, when Honchkrow and Sceptile have done their work and hopefully wiped out all his counters then he can come in and attempt to wipe out the remaining Pokemon.

Team-Building Process
When I started this team I really wanted to try Honckrow, it was being a great wall-breaker and looked very good on paper. After testing it on a random UU team I decided to put him in.
Next I came up with the concept for the time, basically a offense team which uses entry hazards to net KO's. I wanted Spikes + SR so I needed a lead that could lay both them down as I didn't want a SR lead and a Spiker. Omastar was the only Pokemon I found in UU which could use both moves plus looking at the Top 10 leads he stacked out reasonably well against all of them.
Next I would need a spin-blocker to prevent my hazards from being blown away. I had two choices, Rotom and Spiritomb. Spiritomb is definitely bulkier and having used him before I decided to use him.
Next I wanted something that could leave holes early-game and sweep late-game and was fast. I had a few choices here but I settled on SpecsTile because it helped cover Omastar and also was very fast and from previous experiences a very powerful Pokemon.
Now I looked for a late game sweeper, something that wasn't stopped too easily and wasn't too fragile. I went for Gallade because it had some bulk but also could sweep with relative ease once stuff like Weezing and Spiritomb were gone.
Lastly I checked over the team and realized that RP Rhyperior gave me alot of problems. Plus stuff like DD Ferligtar looked troublesome so I decided to get a bulky water. I was planning on Gastrodon first for a Rock resist but it was way too slow and that x4 Grass weak was ass so I went with good old Milotic.
__________
Conclusion
I am overall pleased with this team, it has done pretty well while still having some drawbacks which I would like fixed. Another minor problem is that Toxic Spikes are very troublesome since they basically screw up 5/6 of my team but eh who uses them?
