Teen Titans Understudy 3

Saphira heard the cry of a large bird. She looked up, her eyes locking with Cerridwen's, one of the apprectices. Cerridwen and her had only met once, two years ago, but there was no doubt the stupid girl would remember her. Without a word, Saphira lept into the air, and a block of ice just large enough to stand on appeared out of the air, formed by the moisture of water. She sped toward the two Titans, preparing some attacks.

~**~

"****...Not again..." Jasper moaned, hearing his communicator beep. He heard it so often now he had learned to tune it out. The Titans couldn't take on all the cases. But, this one seemed important. He grabbed something off his bed, a silver chain that had belonged to someone who was gone now. He dashed out of the room, leaping down the stairs three at a time.

"Hah, bad idea." said Darkfire who's hand flared in black flames. "I'll show you why they call me Darkfire!" Darkfire motioned his hands upward. Two giant rocks broke off the ground and were hurled towards the adversary.

Tseer! Without another moment's hesitation, Cerridwen swooped toward the floating block of ice, screaming a hoarse battle cry, but otherwise as silent as a shadow. Her talons extended, wings folded back, she pelted toward Saphira at a frightening speed, ready to attack.

Tseeeeeeeeeer!

The rocks were instantly covered in frost, becoming too heavy to hold up. They fell to the ground, shaking the earth. With a cruel smile, Saphira jumped, letting the hawk fly below her. It hit the ice with a sickening thud, then fell to the ground. But Saphira wasn't finished yet.

She landed on the rail of a fire escape, balencing perfectly thrity feet in the air. With a flick of her wrist, ice encased the bird. She threw it at the wall, watching the ice shatter and the bird let out a cry of pain.

Cerridwen's alert amber eyes burned with hatred as she lay there, a crumpled bird slumped against the grimy alley wall. She was shattered, exhausted. But she wasn't beaten yet.

With another resounding shriek, she took to the air, more clumsy than before due to her somewhat bent right wing. Circling Saphira where she stood on the rail of the fire escape, the bird opened its beak. A blinding orb of light was within it, burning brightly. As she circled the girl, it grew...

Tseer! When the orb was so big that it seemed to illuminate Cerridwen's entire airborne form, she released it with another piercing cry. It whizzed through the air, a ball of electricity hurtling toward Saphira, getting larger even as it moved toward her.

Creating the ball had drained Cerridwen's energy. She beat her wings frantically, struggling to stay up, but it was no use. She gave in. Closing her eyes, she tumbled toward the earth below, all hope of winning the battle lost.

konan walks through the empty street quietly watching and listening with all his senses. I hear the call of a bird of prey and look up into the sky. I see a hawk falling to the ground and change my eyes to the eyes of a hawk. Instantly my vision increases and I recognise it as cerridwen. I change my eyes back and start running to where I think she will land. whiles running i throw my staff ahead of me and transform into a lion. i pick my staff up in my mouth and continue running to the ice encased bird.

Sheol watched the hawk doing battle with Sapphira from the top of a building. When Cassie fell, he sighed heavily, it was time to rejoin the titans. Meh, Devil was getting restless anyway...

Sheol lifted his staff into the air and the orb at the tip flashed with a great green light. The light covered the building, like a green blanket. The light vanished instantly, and the human Sheol no longer stood atop the building. In his place was a 20 foot tall brute with an orange hue to its skin. This new brute was Sheol Devil.

Slobber fell to the ground from Devil's mouth. He licked his chops and eyed Sapphira. Devil crouched, and then jumped with titanic force away from his post.

Devil crashed into the ground before Saphira. His landing made a crack in the pavement below. Devil looked up at Saphira and roared at his foe.

Panicing, Firth pulled and arrow from his pouch strung to his back. Holding a good grip, Firth pulled back, The arrow flew with grace, striking a nearby goblin. A horde paraded behind Firth, as he swiftly swung his bow around his back. Firth motioned his hand onto his silver sword, each strike cleaving through the army of Goblins. His strength was unexplainable. With the swordplay of a human, but the gracefulness of an Elf. The whole goblin army was taken down within seconds of the Half Elf as he leaned on his sword, wiping blood off the blade with fallen leaves.

And assuming that worked... Dual leapt from side to side. His communicator beeped more frequently as he ran.

"Omnifire.*" Dual whispered. He closed his eyes. His eyes opened again. Wider than before. "Jasper... I have something else to attend to." Dual shot at the communicator.

*In case you didn't know, Omni, in general means 'all' Dual summoned fire in hopes to melt the ice.

OOC: You think I could take over Jasper, or is he one of those characters essential to the plot, and must be controled by you? I'll be happy to make a new character, but your description of Jasper was just so perfect, now I'm aching to have him as a character again.

Darkfire's eyes glowed in a silent dark rage. He lifted his hands, which also glowed violently in a black fiery color. "Dammit! How are we supposed to beat someone who can control ice?!" exclaimed Darkfire before remembering simple science. "I'll heat things up.." he pulled out his lighter from his pocket, and in a swift motion he flicked open the lighter, and lit up the lighter. He motioned his other hand over the flame and it lit up, his whole hand covered in flame. Soon he was engulfed in flames and his body assumed a fiery form, which burned so brilliantly and making the air around him seem hazy. He put away the lighter and started blasting away at Saphira.

<OOC>That was the plan, JJDR. Saphi just took him over 'til you got here.<OOC>

I dropped my grisly trophy and rose into midair, slowly rotating. With another sick laugh, I said, "No one interferes with my pet. No one." Both of us had been Titans, years ago, until I had betrayed them and freed Slade, later betraying him and raping Saphira before bending her mind to my will. I laughed again and bent the fabric of reality around Saphira, myself, and Slade's broken body, taking us to his old underground lair, now naught more than a bubble in an obsidian floe from the uncontrolled forces Terra had unleashed long ago. It would do, and the irony was beautiful.

Darkfire stopped his action immediately as the two villains and what was left of Slade disappeared as if they never existed. He dropped to the ground to examine the blood all over the ground. "What the hell just happened?" asked Darkfire, not directing the question to anyone in particular. He paused before examining the others around him. "We'll get them later." said Darkfire before going over to the nearest injured Titan.

The hawk saw Darkfire coming and immediately resumed her human form. As the last traces of bent feathers melted away, Cerridwen looked around, pushing brown hair out of her eyes as she turned to Darkfire.

"Where did they go?" she asked him, still examining the alley as though searching for an answer. "They can't have got far..." She turned and paced the length of the shadowy alleyway, lost in thought.

"I don't know, but they're long gone now..with the way they did it I don't see any reason to continue searching." replied Darkfire who kneeled to examine Slade's blood pool. He took a sample of the blood and placed it in an inch high cylindrical container. "Well, with this we can finally learn who Slade was...if he had any identity that is." said Darkfire who stored the container in his pocket. He paused for a moment. "So... where do we go from here?" asked Darkfire who continued to examine the area.

"Well..." Cassie smiled. She had been asked what to do. The control freak was in her element.

"It's no use hanging around here any longer," she said matter-of-factly. "They could be miles away by now." She paused thoughtfully, still taking in her surroundings as though expecting to see something pop out at her.

"Maybe if we report to headquarters, we can tell them what we've seen," she suggested, "and get back-up." It seemed like just a simple suggestion, but it wasn't. When Cassie suggested something, it was almost always an order.

"Do you think so?" she asked, realizing that she was being bossy again and feeling guilty for it.

Darkfire rolled his eyes at her bossiness.
"Sure, lets go. I'll get this sample of blood checked out...maybe we can use it to find where Slade's body was taken, and that should lead us to that psycho." said Darkfire who jumped in the air and paused.

"Saphira, my pet," I began with a twisted smile. "Before we were so rudely interrupted, I did have a task for you." I tossed Slade's head at her feet and said, "Disguise yourself and leave this at the Titan's doorstep. A gift for them from us." I laughed and conjured a note attached to the head reading, From some old friends. I then turned from my pet and began slowly shaping the obsidian cave to my liking.

OOC: Ok koolio... Although I don't exactly know what she was about to do with Jasper, so I'll wait for her return to find out.

Dual arrived on the scene seeing a pool of blood. "I guess I was a bit late..." Dual muttered, arching an eyebrow. He turned around and ran back to the Headquarters.
