The Aftermath Keeps Rolling Along

For those who check their airdates, it's been one year today since the final 4Kids/WB episode, "Pasta la Vista." People do the whole one year post anniversary, so why not? After enjoying the early 4Kids years vs. PUSA's initial mutation of the show, I was hesitant to want to have a winning formula broken. Then, I watched two of the final Battle Frontier episodes (the first Brandon episode and Once More With Reeling) this morning.

The voices, the flow, everything pretty much clicked in the rawness. With the exception of the music, I was pleased with the ceasing of the pointless edits (like the Text ones in Pasta). It was then I realized that PUSA is overall better for the franchise in terms of the story. Has anyone else had that epiphany after the rabid insanity of the production shift?

I know we've all accepted the change and all, but "maybe it was for the better after all?" I'm not saying it's perfect, mind you, but still enjoyable, anyway. So, I thought to bring up the discussion. And here is Dogasu's Pasta comparison.

I will admit, I really, really, really really miss 4Kids' ability to craft further dub OPs. Particularly in light how impressive they've been getting, but that's my personal opinion. Heh.

I've only seen a couple Battle Frontier episodes and no Sinnoh episodes, but from what I've seen the stories just as good, but was the change responible for the whole charcter voice change?

Something I've been wondering for a long time: why exactly are PUSA dubbing Pokemon instead of 4Kids? Did 4Kids sell it? But I thought it was one of their best shows?

Yeah, I miss 4Kids openings, my favourites were the 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th. The Battle Frontier opening is godly compared to D/P...but I'd grown on Battle Frontier quite a while ago. It has a Pokemon feel to it which D/P doesn't seem to have :( although I feel the same way about the Orange Islands opening.

I miss the old voice actors but I actually like Ash's new voice better than his old one. The voice acting is still a bit iffy but I like the voice because it sounds older.

PUSA haven't made any paint edits yet, have they? I know they've done one but that was to put in the English town names. So that's OK.

Overall I don't really mind that much except I miss the old voice actors sometimes.

Agree on that. Ash's new voice is much better indeed, it sounds more mature.

What I really hate about the new voice cast is team rocket. The Jessie voice is OK, Meowth is a little more bad, but James new voice compared to the old one is HORRIBLE. I can't stand it.

^^^I don't like ash's new voice because i think it makes him sound uneducated(I know he sounded uneducated before, but it also sounded younger) but whatever thats just me. Jessie's isn't that bad but I agree, Meowth and James new voice are horrible.

Meowth, I never had a huge problem with, but James' voice is just... blah... He had his moments, but there's something about it I just don't like, and I can't exactly put my finger on it.

Ash should sound uneducated, since he's been out of school since 10.

Personally, the biggest issue has always been the theme song. While the new one isn't AS bad as the first one, it isn't exactly on my Top Ten Pokemon Themes list.

That's about it. Other than that, they're just following the storyline they were given (which is basically the fourth retelling of the general plot of Pokemon they've done).

I can't stand James' and Meowth's voices. I hate them. Jessie, I can honestly hardly tell a difference, and Brock seems pretty close. Ash is annoying, but not nearly as bad as the first two.

And why'd they change Dawn's voice!? 4Kids did so much better with her! :) /sarcasm

Well I really like the PUSA James voice a lot over the 4Kids voice. I think he really finally got a voice that really makes him sound like somebody that needs to be taken serious. He sounds respectable for once compare to the high pitch one that he had before that wasn't so great.

I really do agree with Dark Charaxes that his has been an improvement for the story since PUSA really bring things from the past episodes like in the first episode of Diamond and Pearl they mention James's old Victorybell. That was so coolie and it been something that I been wanting for a long time.

One thing I don't like about PUSA though is the opening themes. The Battle Frountier opening was okies. The song was kinda catchy but I really don't like the recent one right now and doing the same thing I did with the Unbeatable song. Muting it. Teeheehee Still I would like them to use less scenes from the show and more from the Japanese opening themes in the dub openings.

Overall I like PUSA's dubbing better.
