    You've beaten the Elite Four. You're now considered the 'champion'. What would you like to do with it?

    Let's say that in Alola you decide what happens when you beat the Elite Four. You either can remain at the Elite Four for for a while consecutively taking on trainers with the prize being _______. As you're now the champion Pokémon all over the Alola region are more likely to join your team due to your status as champion. The only way you lose your champion title is if you battle in the Elite Four chambers, otherwise outside of there you can maintain your position.

    ______________

    How would you like this scenario to play out? How likely is it to happen? What would you like to happen when you become the Alola champion?

    While it would be awesome to have the citizens recognise you as the Champion, I have a strong feeling it'll be unlikely since it's been common for Pokemon games to pretend as you win never happened, and also due to the fact the Elite Four is rematchable.

    It's unlikely that they want to make the position negotiable, or merely turn you into a target for trainers. It would generally diverge from the overall progression of the game, and in addition mean that it didn't really have an end in terms of the League progression, without resort to some random plot mechanic, which is probably a step down.

    While some post-game might be interesting, for instance quests newly opened up, which G/S did half-decently, although with Kanto in the way a bit, albeit using that example for instance if Red were to directly begin a plot-point or similar, they needn't shift things that much in that region as yet, unless the regional Elite 4 has some sort of gimmick specific to the region. In addition, they could add a small Orange Islands-esque pathway nearby the main progression, if they wanted, but that's unlikely by this point.

    The champion better not be some tan dude in shorts and flip flops.

    It'd be cool to have your rival challenge you as defending champion.

    I'm sure they'll do a better design for the Champion since it's meant to be an important trainer who is your final hurdle. I do hope we get a male Champion again this time since we had females for the last three generations. Sure, there was Alder in B/W but he could only be challenged in the postgame.

    Having the rival as Champion again would make for a good 1st Gen throwback (especially considering Rowlet is our first dual-typed unevolved starter since Bulbasaur) but I still feel it'll be unlikely and we'll just get another new character introduced as the Champion.

    And not counting Steven in OrAs. I think a female rival becoming the champion would be cool to see. Someone pointed out that the rival in the trailer used the starter weak to our own. Perhaps we have a secondary rival who has the other one. I always felt like Bianca got the shortside of the stick compared to Cheren, so having at least the main rival be the girl this time will be nice.

    Unless if it appears we'll just be getting the opposite-gender protagonist choice as the main rival again. With X/Y, while there was a group it was mainly Calem/Serena who acted as the main rival, while in Hoenn it initially started off as Brendan/May but later became Wally.

    I would love for them to add perks to becoming a Champion! Becoming recognised throughout the Region would feel so rewarding and then you could have advantages such as discounts in shops, being able to set up your own gym and even challenge players who want to take on the Elite Four.

    @illumine

    That's the thing though. Like I was thinking of it as a sort of Battle Tower thing - if you complete a set amount of battles as champ and win you get a prize. You can take the challenge whenever but as soon as you lose the champion title you need to face Elite Four again and work your way up so you can get the bonuses and prizes.

    @colours

    Honestly I think for championship it should be limited to your own game only. Challenging other champions from the same region in what is effectively a parallel universe sounds insane.

    @Blue

    Yeah exactly, you can get real world (in-game) advantages in exchange for your own champion duties. Which unfortunately means that when the ultimate chaos happens (post-game so that there's a reason why some random kid is involved) you fight for the Alola region.

    Oh well like in the anime for example, and some gym leaders are like nope sorry can't battle now - or the gym leader isn't here, etc. The same thing would apply. Trainers can't challenge the champion (but can defeat the elite four) until you choose to come back to the chambers. Let's say there's a trainer a day so if you're gone for over a year you'll have over 300 pending battles to complete and on every 50th you get something etc. If you lose ONE you'll have to re-challenge the Elite Four again to earn the title back (and all the extra benefits you'd gain - like easier to catch every Pokemon, shinies, etc). It'd be really super cool to have and we should've had it so loooong ago.

    The E4 better be more difficult.

    One thing to know is the "battle in any order format" was the staple since 5th Gen, not counting OR/AS since they were remakes. Knowing me, it seems likely they'll stick to the "choose your order" format and also keep Gym Leaders on a three Pokemon handicap.

    I know people won't like it but it seems to be becoming the norm for these new generations.

    As long as they scale the levels it's fine. The issue was that it was the same level teams.

    I would love this! Especially if this is further expanded upon and you can utilize online friends to be gym trainers, also! It shouldn't be too difficult to create some sort of "AI" version of their trainer with their Pokemon team and then position them wherever you want in the gym. And then creating your own gym puzzles and the like would be awesome. @_@
    Although it's much easier to do online stuff in the games now, I'd still rather it were something more in-game. Otherwise it's kind of just a rehash of secret bases. Which were fun, don't get me wrong, but also a little up to chance based on who you interacted with.

    So like, as Champion you could recruit trainers from within the game itself to make your gym. That way there would be more control. Kind of like rematches in previous games, there could be a set of the trainers you normally encounter who you could recruit later on to be in your gym. Or maybe they could even create a pool of new trainers out of thin air and let you choose from among them.

    I hope the champion is a cross of Wakka and that Tito dude from Rocket Power

    This...actually sounds amazing.

    I think battling as the Champion at the E4 should be optional. Maybe they can implement something that notifies you when a trainer wants to battle you there and you can either fly to the league and battle or continue whatever it is you were doing.
