I would hope that the moderators would let the community know it was going to be shut down, to give everyone enough time to move to a different place, or maybe allow some of the other members to set up a new site...

And Kwi, do you need to switch themes every 20 minutes? It's...distracting. The Gastly one was great, but the Homer one scared me.

I don't need to...
But I just do <3 I'll leave it as a screenie for a while, just for you. XD

And Homer isn't something to be feared..He's something to be hugged~

And, RedWolf guy-
Why would the mods care? The admins would most likely let everyone know.

I had to rejoin, that kind of sucked. I was totally a member before then. Quick Reply, amazingly, ruined PC for me...for like months. It was too 'new' and PC had seemingly changed, so I disappeared. Later I figured out what Quick Reply was, and that it made my life a breeze, and I came back. But seriously...QR threw me for a loop.
The quick reply is awesome. I have no idea how it could possibly throw you off.

Cept for quoting :<

And Kawaii, I'm pretty sure the moderators would care just as much as the members would, cause I'm pretty sure we all like this forum for one reason or another.

The mods are in fact chosen because of their dedication to the site. So honestly, most of them would probably care more than many members. And I'm sure the staff'd let people know what was up. I know there was some sort of notice the first time it happened. XD I just don't remember it.

But...yeah, I loved Quick Reply and jumped at the chance to be able to use it when we got it. :[ How'd you not know what it was? XD

I like the quick reply very good ^^
It is very usefull. I am also on a laptop and i find it good to have the quick reply.

Yeah, I too, fail to see how Quick Reply could possibly confuse you. After all, it is probably the most user friendly function here. Other than multi-quoting, that is. I <3 the multi-quote function. XD

I only recently starting using the quick reply function and I cannot believe I never thought of it earlier. Pretty good ish right thurr. Very convenient too. No longer do I take anything on PC for granted. :D If only you could disable smilies using quick reply. :P

To both quotes-
I meant that why would the mods spend their time trying to let everybody know about the closing, instead of doing their job and let the admins do it?

I'd think they want to notify the members of their plan of action before proceeding. But yeah, this whole DBE thing has been going on for such a long time. I can imagine how it would be difficult to get funding to fix the problem though, if funding is really the major obstacle stopping them from sorting things out.

Yeah..but they wouldn't make an announcement, Um, Can they even make global announcements?

Has the DBEs been occurring for over a year? I don't quite remember the first day everyone experienced the problem of being unable to access PC for periods of time. It certainly started behind July, hasn't it?

I remember there used to be a problem like this back when Nami's club was still alive. Heh, practically my whole life on PC has been riddled with DBE. Although it wasn't that frequent and hectic in the early days.

Of course they can, there's currently one about Friend Codes around at the moment.

And if PC were to close, I'm pretty sure there'd be a thread in the Announcements forum, informing everyone about it.

The DB errors were occurring as far back as summer 2005. They were really bad for a few weeks until PC got moved to a new server.

Oh yes, it was. There were times where it was down and lasted for days, even weeks. I can't reminisce on how many occurrences of this have been made, though other times may have been minor.
Perhaps the most notorious example of extended downtime was back in September 2006; PC was down for half an entire month. Prior to that, downtime was limited to several hours, a single day at most.

Everyone thought that the downtime would be fixed long ago. Granted, those estimates were made over a year ago.

I don't believe the problems won't be totally fixed until we move to another new server, but that requires a lot more money than we currently have. =\
