Century watched as the pokeball rattled back and forth, containing the wild Ekans that he had just battled. It rolled along the ground for a few brief moments, before finally coming to a halt, signaling that the wild Ekans had been indeed caught. He walks up to the motionless pokeball and picks it off of the ground, and holds it in the palm of his hand. His Surskit walks alongside him, and Century kneels down and holds out his palm to Surskit.
"This is the first pokemon we'll catch together, Surskit." Century smiles broadly, as Surskit lets out a small call of joy. He reaches into his leather jacket and places the pokeball containing Ekans into the second of six pokeball holsters as the other one is holding Surskit's pokeball. Century then holds his arm out, and Surskit quickly scatters up Century's arm and back up onto his shoulder, as he stands straight up and begins to continue through the thick grass of Route A.
A few minutes pass, as Century continues to walk slowly, Surskit on his shoulder. His left hand is playing with his necklace of a Boulder Badge to seemingly pass the time. The forest is silent, Century's footsteps the only thing making noise. "We had best get out of here, shouldn't we?" Century looks over to his Surskit and questions. His pokemon seems to nod, and Century continues his walking pace.
"You want to find your way out?" A squeaking male voice behind him says loudly, causing Century to turn around, annoyed.
"Who asked you?" Century turns around and calls, the path behind him empty. "Show yourself!" He yells again, and out from the trees comes a boy dressed in camouflage shorts and a white t-shirt.
"I know the way out!" He proclaims.
"Okay, lets here it." Century speaks slowly, highly annoyed by this small child within the minute they have met.
"You have to beat me in a battle first to know!" He grins.
Seriously? Century thinks to himself. "Fine, lets do this." Century says, and waits for a short amount of time, analytical of what the boy is going to do.
The small boy takes a pokeball from his belt, and tosses it into the path as a red light emits from it, and a small, sand colored mouse pops out of the pokeball.
Century holds up his pokedex to the pokemon.
"Sandshrew, the mouse pokemon." It begins mechanically, "Disliking water, it lives in deep burrows in arid areas. It can roll itself instantly into a ball."
Perfect, Century thinks, It's weak to the water type. This is a sure advantage for me. He grins, as he looks to his Surskit.
"Go Surskit, you can do it!" He calls out, and the water/bug fusion hops off of his shoulder and into the center of the path, where it stares down the Sandshrew.
"Sandshrew, use your scratch attack!" The boy calls out and before both Surskit and Century can do anything, Sandshrew leaps into the air and delivers a scratch attack to the body of Surskit, knocking it on its back.
"Surskit, lets show this kid who's the man around here! Use your bubble attack!" Century commands, and Surskit abides, shooting bubbles in the direction of the Sandshrew.
"Sandshrew! Use your defensive curl! Now!" The boy calls out, but its too late, as by that time the Ground pokemon had been bombarded by bubbles, knocking it flat on its back.
"Surskit, use your bubble attack again!" Century calls out, and Sandshrew is just getting to his feet before he is hit with a barrage of bubbles once again, but this time stays on its feet.
"Sandshrew, use Sand Attack! Now" The boy calls out, and Sandshrew digs at the ground, before managing to shoot some up into the air, blinding Surskit. "Now! Follow up with a Scratch attack!" He commands again, and the Sandshrew flies at Century's Surskit, before hitting it with a scratch attack, causing it to fly back.
"Don't give up Surskit! You can do it!" Century calls out encouragingly. Slowly, Surskit gets to his feet. "Alright Surskit, use a Bubble attack!" Century calls out once more.
"Sandshrew! Go through it and deliver a scratch attack!" The boy trainer calls out. Surskit begins to blow bubbles, and Sandshrew tries to run through them, and begins to succeed.
"Come on Surskit! Use everything you got!" Century encourages, and with those words, Surskit blows more and more bubbles at a higher velocity, before finally blowing Sandshrew back into the ground where he came from.
"Come on Sandshrew! Get up!" The boy trainer calls out to his wounded pokemon. Sandshrew attempts to get up, but fails to do so, now rendering himself knocked out.
"Great job Surskit, we did it!" Century kneels down beside his tired pokemon, and rubs him on his head, before his Surskit falls down, exhausted.
"We aren't quite done here yet!" The boy calls out, before returning his Sandshrew into his pokeball and grabbing another from his belt. "Go Rattata, you can do this!" The boy calls out and his purple rat appears ready on the battlefield. Century pulls out his pokedex from his breast pocket and holds it out to the opposing pokemon.
"Rattata," It begins, "Cautious in the extreme, its hardy vitality lets it live in any kind of environment."
Surskit tries to get up and battle the purple rat. "No, Surskit, you're too tired to battle. Return!" Century calls out, and reaches into his jacket's holster and holds out Surskits pokeball. A red light emits from the ball, and sucks Surskit back into the ball. Century then clips the pokeball back onto his belt and pulls out the one containing Ekans.
You're tired Ekans, but I know you can do this! Century thinks, as he throws his pokeball onto the battlefield. "Ekans! I choose you!" Century calls out, and the purple snake pokemon appears on the battlefield.
"Alright Rattata, use your tail whip attack!" He calls out, and Rattata just stands there and whips its tail. Century thinks for a second, before pulling out his pokedex and looking up what attacks that his Ekans has.
"Ekans knows Wrap and Leer at this level." It answers in a monotone, mechanical voice, before Century returns it to his breast pocket. "Alright Ekans, use Leer!" Century commands, and his Ekans gives Rattata a death glare, scaring it a little bit. However, Century doesn't really notice.
Alright, lets finish this kid. Century confides in himself.
"Alright, use Wrap now Ekans!" Century calls out, and slowly than usual, his Ekans slithers across the path and wraps itself around the body of Rattata, squeezing tightly.
"Rattata, try to escape!" The boy trainer calls out.
"Ekans, wrap tighter!" Century commands, and his Ekans abides, wrapping itself tighter around the Rattata, rendering it unable to move.
"Come on Rattata, you can do it!" The boy calls out. Rattata tries to struggle, but Ekans keeps a firm chokehold going. "Come on! Try harder!" The Rattata tries, but is unable to escape.
"Ekans, finish it! Wrap as hard as you can!" Century commands, and without hesitation, the purple pokemon wraps itself hard around Rattata, before loosening its grip, and slithering toward Century, as the Rattata lays motionless on the ground.
"Come on Rattata, get up!" The boy calls out, and the purple rat is unable to move. Meanwhile, Century is petting his Ekans, congratulating it on its good job well done.
"Great job Ekans!" Century smiles, and his Ekans curls up beside him. "I'm so glad I caught you." He grins, before looking up to the boy. "So, wheres the way out of here?"
The boy grimaces for a second, but slowly sighs, knowing he has suffered defeat. "Alright, go straight and take your first left."
"Thanks." Century glances down toward his Ekans and looks back up, but the boy has disappeared into the forest once more. "Hm. Interesting." Century then stands up, reaching in his jacket and pulling out a pokeball.
"Ekans, return!" He says, and holds out the pokeball toward the purple snake, before a red light emits from the pokeball and touches Ekans, before warping it back into the pokeball. Century puts the pokeball back onto its holster, before continuing through the straight forest, looking for his first left..
