Actually that is probably how the story came around, but its just a myth that we spin to scare the tourists. Drop bears are giant bears that live up in trees and drop on your head out in the wild.

Have you ever been asked "Do you ride kangaroos to school?"
That's happened to me a few times before. lol

hehe, have to say I've never heard of 'Drop Bears'

speaking of myths, has anybody heard of the Yowie? (I hope I spelt it right)

lol, having gone to the USA just a few months ago, I have to say that Americans don't really know an awful lot about Australia..

For some reason, most of the people I talked with seemed to think that I came from England... I would just like to say that I don't have a British accent, thank you very much! :P

I don't recall anybody asking me if I rode a Kangaroo though, were they being serious, or were they joking?

lol drop bears,

everyone has heard of the Yowie :P (in australia that is) :P what about the bunyip (if i spelt it right)

(i actually forgot the name of the bunyip for a second there XD)

They also think we all drink those giant cans of Fosters beer. Thats not true. We drink mayonaisse

Or what about the platypus? That's a big myth too, dont ya know?

oh yeah! almost forgot about the Bunyip!

You know what's funny, Murpheos? Out of all the commercials I've seen in the USA for the two months I spent there, there was one commercial I saw which was Australian (during the Australian oopen)

Guess what it was for? XD

About the kangaroo thing...yep, they were being serious. ^^;

Well, thanks to Steve Irwin for making Americans more aware of Aussie animals. lol

And thanks to Steve Irwin for acting like a twit. I havent met anyone who said they liked that guy...............CRIKEY!

I hate him, he's a moron for dangling his baby near a crocodile as a stunt. --;
As Ryan said, he's the Aussie version of Michael Jackson.

Yeah,He is a bit of a stooge.

But yeah some Americans have no idea what it is like over here.

They think the Daddy Long-legs is actually deadly.XD

Wanna hear a funny story? I was working at the Coffee Club, and this American tourist came up to me and asked "Do you sell coffee?"

lol, Kinda short, but still funny :P

I havn't actually ran into much americans, but i just know their system is ****ed up, and australia will be just like them if johny dont get outa "the bush"

The whole American/Australian currency is a strange system, keeps going up and down. I remember before the events of September 11, the Australian dollar was very weak, less than 45 American cents, after that, it sky-rocketed.

o.O you mesured them

that would take ages XD

No.... I read it off a sign. >_O
Wait a minute... some Americans think that daddy long legs are deadly? Like, OMG.
I have been reading this book... its fictional, but its about a girl who is from America who comes to Australia with her mother so they can spend Christmas with her mother's internet boyfriend... and she didn't even know what a redback spider was. It was quite amusing... she thought it was this giant thing... lol.

What other things do the Americans think of some of our Aussie things? ^^;

They often rant at me about the price of cherries at work, since we have to import them from America, so they are very expensive.
