Welcome to The Basic Challenge! The first challenge I have ever come up with, and the first thread I had ever made, so some feedback will be greatly appreciated.
The point of this challenge is to use an only Normal type team (with the exception here and there), and beat the strongest trainer in the game with the said team.
Time for the rules-
The point of this challenge is to use an only Normal type team (with the exception here and there), and beat the strongest trainer in the game with the said team.
Time for the rules-
Spoiler:
Rule no. 1- You may only use the 'rat' (Rattata, Sentret, Bidoof, etc) as the first Pokemon you have ever caught. Once you have your Pokemon, you have to train up said 'rat' to at least level 5. You must then release or store your starter in a box never to be touched.
Rule no. 2- No hacking or cheating is allowed. No exceptions.
Rule no. 3- If you are playing a game where the first route you are in has another Pokemon from a different region as well as your own (for example, if you are playing Soulsilver, you could run into Rattata as well as Sentret), you may only catch your regions newly introduced 'rat'. The only exception to this is if your 'rat' only appears in the morning and another 'rat' appears at night, you may catch the one that appears at night.
Rule no. 4- If your 'rat' evolves into a different type and loses its normal typing, you cannot catch this 'rat'. This includes all Normal (Ghost and Fighting) pokemon you catch. All Pokedex entries with their typing listed can be found at serebii.net.
Rule no. 5- Once you reach the next route, you have to catch the basic 'bird' of this region. The only exception to this rule is in Pokemon X and Y. In these games, you basic 'bird' evolves into a Fire-Flying type, therefore disobeying rule no. 4.
Rule no. 6- You may only catch one Normal type per route.
Rule no. 7- You may play remakes of games on regions that are in official games (like Pokemon Blaze Black) but you may not play completely different games (like Pokemon Victory Fire).
Rule no. 8- You can only catch Ghost or Fighting type Pokemon other than Normal types once you have either a team full of Normal type Pokemon, or you run out of Normal types. These types are the ONLY types you may catch. Rule no. 4 applies to this rule too.
Rule no. 9- Your game if complete once you defeat your games strongest character-
Rule no.10- You MUST do an update every two gyms if you have not done an update before, and every update you make has to contain you beating at least two Gym Leader. You therefore must do at least five updates including the Pokemon league and Champion. Also, If you are playing a game where the strongest trainer is after-game, you must do an update on everything you do until you get there.
Rule no. 12- No legendary Pokemon are allowed to join your team until post-game (that's where they all are anyway)

Once this thread gets fifteen competitors, I will add a different version of this, most likely going to be what you people think you would like.
You may cross this challenge over with whatever challenge you may like, but you have to give credit to me, or I will slap you with a Copyright Fine (just kidding).
You can also play this challenge through on Youtube, as long as credit is given where it should be.
If you find anything that sounds incorrect in this thread, please notify me (kindly).
This is how the sign up sheet/ page/whatever will look like. For example, I will do my sign up sheet.
