Thankfully, Viz hasn't totally destroyed the Bleach manga; they've gotten a few jokes wrong here and there, but that's about it. They've only really censored one thing, and that was Isshin's lines about his daughters being drunk and wearing no panties at the vol. 8 fireworks festival (a conversation that never occured in the anime; the incredibly shortened fireworks festival was one of the anime's more disappointing ommissions, actually). The other mistakes have generally been translations errors; this includes Renji's statement in vol. 6 that HE was brought up by the Kuchiki family, and the naming of Orihime's brother as "Kakei" in vol. 1 (his name is Sora, and this isn't revealed in that vol. anyways. The Kanji was misinterpreted).
Of course, their tendency to change around the order in which names are presented, as well as their incredibly stupid habit of using only the cheesiest euphemisms in place of words like "d*mn", and other such 4-letter expletives, AND their refusal to keep honorifics does make for some awkward dialogue, keeps their adaptation of Bleach from being even close to perfect. But at least we can be thankful that tit's better than their adaptation of Naruto.
The manga is much better than the anime, as you will find. Not only does the anime lack a good amount of Kubo Tite's real style and flair, but the way that it handles the early story leaves much to be desired (particularly within the bit about Orihime's brother and the emergence of Orihime's powers).
On a final note, i can't wait for the 2nd OVA to be subbed.
