Heh. Good ol' Renji. I could see why he's your favorite; he pretty much kicks a*s. He's in my top 3, with only Urahara and Kenpachi coming before him.

He's not really Zangetsu, though. It's kinda complicated...Zangetsu is, more or less, the personification of Ichigo's Shinigami powers (which is what Zanpakutou are, really), whereas Hollow-Ichi personifies his Hollow side. They aren't the same, but they aren't exactly different, either. Urahara's Shattered Shaft was designed to forcefully bring out either one's Shinigami or Hollow self, one or the other (although its exact method of functioning isn't really clear); the only reason Zangetsu and Hollow-Ichi exist alongside one another was because Ichigo was on the cusp of Hollow transformation before his Shinigami side triumphed. They must be different beings who are linked, like two sides of the same coin.
 
Yeah, it isn't really Zangetsu..but I don't think his hollow side has a name, and if it does, I can't remember hearing it said..really all that happens is Ichigo's hollow side takes over when his butt is getting kicked basically. He doesn't have full control over it's appearance coming forth.

Yeah, Renji is awesome. he is my favourite..then it is probably Toushiro and then Ichigo.

I don't think that Ichigo's hollow side is the same being as Zangetsu. For a start he's not an old man. Maybe an aspect of him. I could go into it more, but I think it's already been covered.

It is related to Zangetsu though, at least in part (hence why it can use Zangetsu, dissolves into Zangetsu, etc.). The best way I can describe it is by saying that they're like 2 sides of the same coin. They may also be linked due to the fact that they exist with equal presence inside of Ichigo's soul.

Well, of course it can use Zangetsu, Ichigo uses Zangetsu, wouldn't it be odd if it couldn't use it when it takes over Ichigo in the first place? and I guess you're right, if you mean that the other Ichigo in Ichigo's soul is the hollow side of him..the one he had a fight with when Zangetsu got sliced against Kenpachi. WIth the whole issue of his soul being too weak and therefor the reason why his blade couldn't cut at that point.

Well technically since Deathberry is Ichigo in a sense he can use Zangetsu.
 
Well no if Vizards in Ichigo's case could, maybe a second a Zanpaktou. Like one to reflect Deathberry.
