Black and White: Pros and Cons

I am excited about most of the new features personally, but admitidly not all of them.

The triple battle system seems very interesting as when the Advanced games were introduced, having the double battle. I can see me getting used to the rotating battles as well but currently will be odd at first. I am a classic pixel artist and lover. I like flat 2D sharp images, now they are being moved on a 3D plane? Not sure how I feel about that but again, I'll probably get used to it.

The new Battle targeting reminds me of some older RPGs I'd play where position is based on how and if you can hit the enemy and I'll probably like it. It'll also be nice to use items in the multiplayer battles.

I also really do love the idea of seasons! I instatly thought of Animal Crossing as it goes by the true days of the year and snows and blooms at the correct times of the year. But it is nice to know that the seasons change monthly so you can see them sooner <3

The team Plasma story made me giggle inside and their costumes are ridiculous, but I will enjoy playing against them indeed.

I like B&W most of all games if I´m honest they were the best in my brain there is the 3. the best but just because i started wth it.
The tm-system great
the camera greate(idea sometimes it looked kind of messed up)
cool pokis
cool team
cool Arenas(!!!)
cool plot(even if I´ve the opinion that Pokemon is a trading and training game witch actually could live without a story if you search a good Story play Digimon World:P)
cool game
10/10

For the most part, I welcome essentially every change. I really love the new Pokémon (to the point where I can barely decide on a 6-member team) and the new additions have been fun and exciting.

I think the only things I have to complain about are the ridiculously high levels that everything seems to evolve at. :( Favourite addition was improved menu shortcuts. And I like that sleeping Pokémon actually close their eyes. THIS WAS A LONG TIME COMING.

edit: oh yeah, musicals freaking sucked. :(

(I have to add that alle the stairs, stairs, stairs and 10k other stairs,everywhere-
they let me get crazy from time to time(best example ist the League-event)
and you walk them up and up and they get biggger every time did they think their symbolic or why did the fill the whole game wit those freaky stairs?

I haven't played it yet, but from what I've read it seems like it's becoming less of pokemon and more just another RPG.

Usually I'm one to not like a lot of change, but in this case I like a lot of these changes. The past games have been to similar in gameplay, style, etc. Sure each game slowly worked on changing somethings, but never anything that drastic. In this case these changes are just huge, which to me will add a new flair to the game. Overall I'm excited to see how these changes play when I get the game myself.

The only thing I don't like in Black and White? Going from something interactive (Contests/Pokéthlons) to what's more or less a screensaver (Musicals). Not the best change in side-activities.

You know, I heard that the "Musicals" were bad, but I didn't think they were that bad as to warrant such a comparison. :cer_disbelief:

Another Weekly Poll down the line! n_n

Do you like the changes B/W has brought to the Pokémon Games?

Such as full motion in battles, camera angle changes in and out of battles, the seasonal changes (also having the wait for winter to access certain areas), and the sheer height of base stats in a good chunk of the region's Pokemon, what do you think about it all? The latter's change is even going to where Smogon is calling older generation Pokemon "worthless". However, what are your opinions and thoughts on the changes?

Discuss away!
Credit to The Red Chain for Poll Idea.

I love the motion in battles for the Pokemon (some could use additional touches, like having the Weather Trio's Tron Lines glowing in battle), but they skimped out on Trainer animations. :( The dynamic camera angle changes in battle look very nice, judging from a trailer I've seen. The implementation of seasonal changes are an awesome enhancement to the time feature, after having been rumored for quite some time. Elevated base stats are very nice indeed, but apparently that change has caused the same Pokemon to have somewhat irrationally-limited movepool (i.e., Zekrom not being able to learn Earthquake while being 39x heavier than Teddiursa who can learn EQ). Alterations such as EV recalculation post-battle, the inclusion of triple battles, Dream World ability enhancements, the maturation of the player characters and rivals, the apparent combination of Pokemon Centers and Pokemon Marts, and the seemingly gorgeous visuals are pluses in my book, though.

The removal of some of HGSS's outstanding improvements (particularly Apricorn Ball availability) greatly irked me though. I mean, they bothered to import the sprites to BW (though technically one could do that with Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V). Couldn't they just add one vendor in the regional Department Store to sell them as "exotic rare Poke Balls from another region" or something? If the Poke Ball variants of Sinnoh, Kanto, and Hoenn (each considerable distances apart from each other with Johto squashed with Kanto in the middle), why are Johto's Poke Balls the only ones shafted? :cer_confused:

Anyway, despite their glaring and somewhat numerous flaws, Pokemon Black and White Versions still seem like a very engaging experience with several beneficial updates and upgrades, and the airing of Best Wishes makes me want to play those games even more. T_T

In sum, there are some changes in B/W for the better, but also a step down.
