The Character Challenge

I'm sure Im not the first to think of this, but I haven't seen any other threads for it, so here we go.

Description:
This challenge is for everyone who wants to play through the games using
a specific character's team. This character can be from the anime, manga, or games,
as long as they own 2 or more pokemon.

It is reccomended to play as a character from the generation you wish to play, for example,
if you want to play Pokemon Black Version, it is reccomended to choose someone from
those Manga Books/Anime Seasons/Games to play as.

Rules:

Spoiler:

1. You Can Only Use Pokemon That Are Used by the Character You Chose
If the character uses a Charmander, you must use a Charmander. If your character
uses more than 6 Pokemon in their rotation, you are welcome to choose which six
you want on your team.

2. If the character as a Pokemon that you can't obtain in the game you're playing,
you may hack, cheat, or trade to obtain that Pokemon.

3. No switching characters in the middle of the challenge.

4. No Character Combinations. You may only use one character's team, combinations
are forbidden.

5. If the character you are following did not evolve their Pokemon, you may not evolve your
Pokemon either.

6. No Stat Enhancing Items, Battle Items or Rare Candies.

7. No Battle Items Allowed

8. You May Catch Other Pokemon (Including Legendaries) That Aren't Part of The Character's Team,
but they must be deposited immediately.

9. You May Only Heal at a Pokemon Center. No Healing Items Are Allowed (Excluding Berries)
9a. This rule is void when you enter the Pokemon League, due to the player having no access
to Pokemon Centers while challenging the Elite Four.

I know I'm little late but I'll do my update now, info on my character and team is below:
I'm using ash's unova team, in pokemon black version. He had more than 6 pokemon in his rotation so I chose 6 to use.

Team:
-Pignite (Chose as Starter)
-Pikachu (Got from Trade)
-Leavanny (Caught)
-Boldore (Caught)
-Unfezant (Caught)
-Palpitoad (Caught)

It was quite easy to catch all of these because they are available early on in the game, Pikachu was easy to find in a trade as well, I guess I got lucky lol.

Now for the actual update:
-Chose Starter
-Beat Cress and Got the Trio Badge
-Caught Pidove and Roggenrola
-Traded a Purrloin for a Pikachu
-Caught Tympole
-Beat Lenora
-Evolved Tepig into Pignite
-Got through Pinwheel Forest and Caught Sewaddle
-Trained for a Bit and Evolved Sewaddle into Swadloon
-Beat Burgh
-Evolved Tympole into Palpitoad and Pidove into Tranquil
-Evolved Roggenrola into Boldore
-Beat Elesa

Team After Beating Elesa: Pignite, Swadloon, Palpitoad, Tranquil, Boldore, Pikachu
I can only evolve Tranquil and Swadloon now. I'll try to post another update soon! I've had so little free time with school and other things, sorry. I'll try to post updates quicker. Good Luck foeboy with your challenges!:)

There used to be a thread like that - I was supposed to be doing May run but I ended up giving up. But I am going to give it another try. This time as Gary Oak on FireRed.

What That Character's Team Is: Umbreon, Electivire (will probably work with electabuzz), magmar, dodrio, krabby, blastoise, nidoking, nidoqueen, scizor, arcanine and golem. Will see what I can work with here - Will also use randomizer just so I can remove trade evolutions for golem and just so I get National Dex at the beginning - for Umbreon.

As you can see in my previous post, this was my team after beating Elesa:

Here Is What I've Accomplished Since Then:
-Defeated Team Plasma at the Cold Storage
-Beat Gym Leader Clay
-Got Through Chargestone Cave
-Got Through Celestial Tower and Evolved Tranquil Into Unfezant-Female
-Beat Skyla
-Got to Iccirus City After Exploring Twist Mountain
-Defeated Brycen
-Defeated Team Plasma at Dragonspiral Tower and Evolved Swadloon Into Leavanny
-Traveled Through the Moor of Iccirus and Battled With Bianca

Now This Is My Team: Pignite, Leavanny, Palpitoad, Unfezant-F, Boldore, Pikachu
I am not allowed to evolve anymore Pokemon. Soon I will finish the game. I might train some more before continuing though. Good Luck to Everyone Participating!:)

Time for My Third and Final Update![/COLOR]

Ok, so I decided to swap out Boldore for Krookodile, since it is still on Ash's team. Here is my update:

-Battled the Opelucid Gym Leader and got a Master Ball from Juniper

-Trained a bit, got to the badge gates, and through victory road

-Had an awesome showdown with the elite four members

-Fought N in an epic battle (challenging since i couldn't use the legendary

-Plot Twist (Ghetsis' Admits His Lies)

-Defeated Ghetsis in a fit of rage

-Watched the credits (did not fall asleep)

-Arrested the seven sages

-Deciding who to use for my next challenge

I had alot of fun in this challenge and I hope everyone participating enjoys their challenge as well!:)

I am working on this challenge. I hacked in everything I cannot obtain in game and I got to Mt. Moon. Brock was easy thanks to Squirtle. Trying to find Nidoran f. atm - they are next to impossible to find D: Same goes for nidoran m. >_< I am getting all pokemon that he has and I will later on decide on my final team- when I see how all of them work.

I did it in the beginning ^^ I thought about evolving eevee via hapiness than I realized that there are no baby pokemon before the elite 4 there so it won't work xD I am nearly done with having full team ^^

Pretty weak team she has, but I guess that's why it's a challenge lol! Her last two Pokemon are Glaceon and Munchlax, which are unobtainable in Emerald.

I remember doing May's run on Emerald in the old thread -the only Problem was that another person assigned you character - they assigned me May and I had to use 6 Pokemon- So I had to use Eevee on my team aswell- I pretty much ended up using just venusaur and Wartortle - Beuatifly is not that bad - but Skitty is just there... Wish that you could evolve it - it would be so much more useful than D:

Taken down because of Bulby's Bullet Seed, and Squirtle's Water Gun.

Now that Beautifly learned Gust, It was appropriate to go back and fight Brawly. Shoutout to the EXP Share!

BRAWLY (Badge #2)
-As previously mentioned, Beautifly was enough to finish Brawly. Although frail defensively, the double resistance to Fighting came through clutch.

-More grinding, about to fight Brendan under the bridge real soon.

I feel I'm long overdue for a second update! This one goes to the 6th badge.

After defeating Brawly underleveled, the interval between Brawly and Wattson was grinding, grinding, and grinding again. Once Inreached Mauville, I was ready to thwart Wattson.

WATTSON (Badge #3)
This battle was won through Ivysaur's Leech Seed, a cheap tactic that never fails to impress me. When Combusken went down against Manectric, I had to stall until Leech seed finally fainted it for the victory.

-More grinding, I get back to the Level Curve at this point in the game.

FLANNERY (Badge #4)
Wartortle was perfect for this Gym. Water Gun took out Camerupt, Torkoal and the rest without Overheat putting my Pokemon in the dirt. I couldn't wait to see what Wartortle could do with Surf.

Speak of which, all of my Pokemon reached their final forms, including Blaziken and Venusaur. I was thrilled.

NORMAN (Badge #5)
Now that I had the evolved forms, Norman went well. Before his Vigoroth, Linoone and Slaking could run rampant, Blaziken's Double Kick stopped them.

Surf and Ice Beam were taught to Wartortle. Ice Beam was essential for the next Gym and especially when I fight the Elite Four's Drake later.

WINONA (Badge #6)
While Skitty's Special Attack is low, Shock Wave did a fair amount of damage to Pelipper (hello 4x weakness). I had Blaziken stomp Skarmory, then Wartortle's Ice Beam OHKOed everything else including her Altaria.

This Challenge is going quicker than I anticipated.

Played for a while today and ended up finishing! Here's what went down!

Spoiler:

After routing Winona, I headed to Lilycove, defeated team Aqua at Mt Pyre, Magma at the Jagged Pass, then Aqua again at Lilycove, all before reaching Mossdeep.

-Had an awesome tag-team smackdown with Steven and the two Magma Admins at the Space Center. My team actually went ahead of the level curve at this point in the game!

TATE & LIZA (Badge #7)
Wartortle was key for this Gym with Bite and Surf to handle all of her Pokemon. Venusaur's Razor Leaf was a deadly combo with surf, and with little damage, I defeated the psychic twin leaders.

-Surfing, and then I stopped Team Aqua for one last time before reaching Sootopolis. I also beat every Trainer between Lilycove and Ever Grande, which was a great amount of experience.

JUAN (Badge #8)
Being ahead of Juan made me able to defeat him. Venusaur was very important in securing this badge, as it dropped Whiscash and more importantly his Kingdra before Double Team cheating happened. It feels great to be armed with a Grass Starter. Venusaur is my favorite Grass type and best Grass starter IMO.

I shouldn't forget about Skitty, whose Sing, Shock Wave and Double Edge proved to be an excellent gimmick.

At Victory Road, all hands were on deck as my team humiliated Wally. It was a complete blowout. Victory Road and the Elite Four were a bit of a challenge because I had to complete this playthrough without any healing items, just as the real[/M] May would.

Let's get started...

SIDNEY
Blaziken was made for success in this battle. Didn't need to switch, but I brought in Beautifly to handle his Grass types.

PHOEBE
A combined effort with Blaziken, Beautifly (Shadow Ball!), and Wartortle to take her Ghosts down. I was unsure how well I'd do in this battle, but I was impressed with the result.

GLACIA
I sent out Blaziken and made no switches. Blaziken used Bulk Up twice to set up, then consecutively knocked out her Ice types with Brick Break. This was a fun victory.

DRAKE
Exactly why i taught Wartortle Ice Beam. That move alone stopped Drake's pesky Dragons. I sent in Venusaur to Leech Seed the Kingdra.

CHAMPION WALLACE
It's the Princess of Hoenn (May) vs. the "Princess"(?) and Champion of Hoenn, the feminine Wallace. Venusaur proved to be the MVP for this Challenge with his performance against the Champ.
Wailord was defeated with one Razor Leaf.
Whiscash died to one Razor Leaf.
Gyarados fell to Skitty's Shock Wave.
Ludicolo was finished after two Beautifly Aerial Aces.
Tentacruel was no longer after Blaziken's Earthquake
And Milotic fainted after Venusaur's Razor Leaf.

And so I become Champion with May's (stronger than expected) team. Eevee had a reduced(?) role on this team after Wattson, as I needed three HM Slaves to finish the game.

This one turned out to be a blast! I watched a lot of the Advanced Generation segment of the anime, and it made me disappointed that May wasn't a fan of battling. I guess Contests are her thing because she's hot because she loved Pokemon, but not when they got injured.

This was last on my "to-do" list, and it was a pleasure to finish. Great idea, I'm somewhat surprised that this Challenge doesn't have more challengers!
