The Children Are Hunted

"Whatever," Vulpix said, stretching out and then curling back up. He honestly didn't care. Marcus nodded, and turned to look at Robby. He still had that scowl on his face.
"It doesn't bother me. Robby, are you ok?" Marcus said. Robby nodded, but said nothing. Mia stood up. She was glad she had no powers. She didn't like to bleed, so having someone suck her blood would be an absolut no-no. But she was confused.
"Hmm... I'm sorry if this is a bit, well, nosy, but the rest of you seem to know exactly what you can and cannot do. How is it possible that you don't? I don't get how this works at all. Again, I'm sorry if this is pushing it, and if you don't want to answer, then don't," Mia said. She didn't want to make them mad, but she was dying to know!
"Again, you failed to listen. He didn't say he couldn't control it. He said he didn't know what all it could do. Also, you would be surprised to learn that Thomas can't fully control his light, though he is working on that. And Marcus can't control his visions, though I doubt that there is a way to do that," Esper said, glaring reproachfully at Mia. Mia bit her lip and nodded.
"Oh... I'm sorry. Forget I asked," she said. Amber seemed to smell something and got up and walked off.
"Don't go too far!" Marcus called after her as she left.

Mickey shrugged. "It's a perfectly understandable question. And none of us know exactly what we can and cannot do with our abilities. Ash is probably the closest to understanding hers and that's only because her kind of power has been around likely since the beginning. And even her knowing the extent is stretching it. People like us are guesswork at best and the biggest puzzle at worst." Mickey smiled placidly. "Don't worry about it. You can't annoy me as much as Zora."

"Love you too Mickey," the other replied as Arca sniffed at and lightly froze the bite. Emma went to go follow Amber. She was bored and Amber looked exciting.

Mia laughed a little. She hadn't expected that response. What a surprise! She looked around. She saw that Thomas still was asleep. She was a little worried about him, but said nothing. She wanted to do something. But what?
"Um... I think I'll go get us all some lunch. What do you guys want?" she asked.
"Pizza!" Marcus said instantly. Mia laughed. She knew the perfect place to get a pizza.
"Duck, so fresh it's still warm. But take the feathers off first. I hate having to chew through those," Vulpix said sleepily.
"Uh... I can't get that," Mia said. Vulpix laughed.
"I know! I just wanted to see what you would say!" Vulpix said. Mia laughed. She turned to the others.
"Well, anything you guys want?" she asked.

Ash glanced at the three. "Zora, Mickey, you good with pizza?" The boys nodded, Zoran slumping on Mickey's shoulder. Ash snorted. "Alyss, you okay?"

Alyss jumped, having been talking quietly to Zaria. She fumbled a moment. "Um, um, I..."

"Fruit?" the elder asked and Alyss nodded timidly. Ash grinned. "Simple enough. I'll get that instead." She glanceda t their unconscious friend. Zoran, I swear if you killed Thomas..."

"Not my fault he went that far," he replied. "Has to know his limits someday." Ash would have kicked him if he didn't look dizzy and slightly sick. His blood sugar was low. Note to self: get cookies.

Mia nodded and left. She spotted Amber digging furiously in the dirt, and cuckled to herself. She walked into Venice to go get that pizza!

"You worry to much! If he were in danger, don't you think I would tell you? He is dealing with his power at the subconcious level. He can't be concious while he does that! I'm glad that Zoran pushed him that far. Otherwise, he might not have had to deal with this now. Better now than sometime in the future. As you well know, his power is tied to his feelings. But it is more than that. His power IS his feelings, if you can understand what I'm saying. That's why his light changes color. He could only fight with it before when he was angry or hateful. Now, he has to deal with that aspect of himself, or he might never control it. But I know he can do it. He is stronger than his uncontrolled rage. Oh, and I can tell Mia to get some cookies or a pie or something for you if you'd like!" Esper said to Ash. He laughed again. He didn't quite know how to put it any better than that. He hadn't meant to pick that up. He just sensed the desire for something sweet. He had no clue what she wanted it for, only that she wanted it.

Ash grinned. "I know Esper don't worry. I'm just annoying Zora. He enjoys manipulating people and pushing their buttons too much. I personally blame his mother for teaching him how to smile and lie to you at the same time. That woman was scary. She could fake emotions way too well. But please ask Mia to get some cookies. Zora needs something to eat after that." Dora was spinning again, concentrating for some reason. There was a faint white glow around her body. She wasn't evolving yet but it would be soon.

Esper sent the request and felt Mia grumble in response. But he felt her compliance, and signaled it to Ash.
"Now, when she gets back, I better get one of those cookies," Esper said slyly. He had a large sweet tooth, which was why he always found fruit when he went hunting. But cookies were another kind of sweet alltogether. He absolutely adored the sugar covered ones. What were they called? Sugar Cookies?

"That's right," Ash said softly. "And you're welcome to it. Zora's not a big fan of sweets but like it or not, he needs some."

"I'm right here you know," Zoran chided lightly. She smiled and kissed his forehead. The boy flushed a faint red and Mickey glared at her reproachfully.

"Jealous?" Mickey scoffed.

"Hardly." Zoran groaned.

"I am not getting involved in this," he muttered with a laugh as Dratini took this chance to squirm into his shirt.

It was about half an hour later when Mia got back. She was riding an electric scooter, and a silvery helmet was donned over her cap. She had a rather large pizza in her lap, and a small box of cookies in one hand. She tossed the cookies at Ash, but Esper caught them out of the air and opened the package. He pulled out two cookies and floated them over to himself, and floated the open package to Zoran.
"I'm sorry it took so long. I had to wait for Joe to cook the pizza. He's old, but he makes the best pizza's I've ever had!" Mia said with a smile as she opened up the box and pulled out a slice. She looked over at Thomas again as Marcus took a slice out and handed it to Robby.
"Are you sure he's alright?" Mia asked.

Zoran shrugged dismissively as he ate a cookie. "Not my problem," he replied cheerfully. Mickey hit him and he whined before grinning. "Trust me Mia, he's a-okay. He's just learning to grasp a new concept. It just happens to involve him being unconscious. For a long time. Well, either that or he's a slow learner at this stuff. Both are equally likely. Save him some pizza. He'll be hungry. Or something." Dratini reached out and stole a cookie, causing Zoran to pout at him.

"You just enjoy your dark sense of humor don't ya?" Ash asked cheerfully, throwing water bottles in everyone's general direction. Zoran caught it and put in on Dratini's head. It yelped and dove back into the black fabric. Cold.

"Hey," Mickey yelped. "Stop messing with Dratini!"

"He likes it." Dratini was poking his head up again, the curious dragon he was. He nudged the bottle and dove again. Still cold.

"Come on Robby! You've got to eat too!" Marcus said. Robby took the slice of pizza he was offered and nibbled on it. That was fine with Marcus, as he stood up and got his own slice. Robby caught the water bottle that was flung at him with his mind, and it slowly revovled around him. Marcus got hit in the head, and caught the bottle before it hit the ground. Mia caught hers easily.
"Well... As long as he's ok. He still owes me some training!" she said. Was that all she thought about? No, but it was high on her list of priorities. She had hated being rescued, and wanted to never be in that situation again. Esper was eating his cookies happily and said nothing, though he was radiating waves of joy. Mia wondered if he knew he did that. Whenever Esper was happy, he sent it out to everyone. The silly kitty probably wanted everyone else to be as happy as he was.

Ash glanced at Robby and said nothing, watching Mickey take a slice of pizza in quiet contemplation. She gave Alyss an apple, the girl eating it in quiet. She twitched in silence before Emma flew down over their heads, chirping about something completely random. She laughed and watched the Pokemon fly again. Alyss wanted to fly too but god she was really tired. Emotional comeback wore her out more than backlash. She put her apple down in the dirt, yawned, and lay down on the ground. Zoran chuckled.

"I love our Alyss."

"I'm pretty sure she loves you too," Mickey quipped with a grin. Zoran casually took a piece of pizza while elbowing him in the stomach. Whistling innocently, he tossed Esper another cookie.

Thomas's arm snaked up and caught the cookie out of the air.
"Don't do that, you'll make him fat! Then how will he be able to dodge?" Thomas mumbled before breaking the cookie in half. He handed one half to Esper and chomped down the other half. He was aware of a few things. Most predominately was that he still couldn't see. Second, was that the light had simmered down, and was more responsive to his comands, and just overall easier to tap into. Third, was that the whole area seemed to be more relaxed than it had before he zoned out or tranced or whatever you called it. He didn't seem to have been moved. He tried to move his legs, and found he felt very weak.
"Thomas!?" Marcus and Mia cried in unison. Oh god, not her again! He'd had enough! But... he could sense a change in her overall attitude. Maybe he should stay quiet and let the others talk to him first.
"Great! He finally woke up!" Vulpix said sleepily.
"Oh hush! You were asleep too!" Mia chided. Thomas put his hand down and began to pet Esper.
"So... What's been going on while I've been fighting my inner demons?" he asked.

"Stuff," Zoran replied cheerfully. "We learned sommat on the RDM, erm... Amber played with Dratini and got sleepy, oh, and ban Mickey from touching you before he tries to bite you again. Ash had to sedate him." Mickey pouted.

"Sorry!" Ash grinned.

"I'm just teasin' ya Mickey," his friend replied promptly. "But yeah Thomas you should be unconscious more often. It's almost quiet around here." He was joking, sort of.

"What? And let you run your mouth instead? I think noT! Hah, but I'm too drained to care what the RDM is up to right now. It feels like I've been using my power nonstop for the past hour!" Thomas said. He had infact been using his power, just turned inward. Mia handed him the box of pizza, and he gratefully took a slice. Amber came walking back with a squeaky meow. Clutched in her jaws was a Moon Stone. She dropped it when she saw Thomas moving about. She leapt on him happily, took a bite of his pizza, then spit it out, and was being very affectionate toward him.
"Amber! Jeez! You're making a big fuss!" Thomas said as he tried to get her to calm down.

Zoran just smirked innocently and laughed as Amber dropped the Moon Stone. "That would be good for you Marcus, for your Clefairy," he said cheerfully, gently taking Amber and moving her next to Thomas, petting her. "And I'll have you know I can be very quiet Thomas, It's just very fun annoying you." Ash barked out a laugh.

"Thomas I recommend sleeping on a bed tonight. "It always helps with that sort of thing."

"Well, I can barely move, so I'm hardly in a position to argue," Thomas said with a smile. He reached out and pet Amber as well. Very gently, as he was still very weak. He continued petting Esper as well, who was soaking up the attention.
"Really? A moonstone can help Clefairy evolve? But... Amber is the one that found it! It's Thomas's!" Marcus said.
"I have no use for it! You can keep it and use it whenever you please," Thomas said with a smile. Marcus walked over and picked up the moonstone. He put it in his pocket.
"Um... Maybe later. I heard Clefairy can learn a wickedly powerful move, that Clefable can't so I'm gonna teach it to her, then evolve her," Marcus said. Mia nodded. That was a good plan.

"Good idea," Mickey praised lightly as Dratini finally went back to him.

"Good," Ash said cheerfully. "You're learning not to argue with me. Would it hurt your manly pride if I carried you in there now to rest?" Arca pawed her and she nodded, giving Zoran a look. He went to carry Alyss inside.

"Do I have a choice?" Thomas asked with a grin. What manly pride? He needed help, and didn't mind admitting it. Nothing to be ashamed of!
"Well... Do your worst!" Thomas said. He didn't know if she could carry him. It wasn't that he thought she was weak or anything. It's just that he was very big, and as a result, very heavy. Not fat or out of shape, but heavy! This should be interesting.

Ash shrugged and Mickey gave a mischievous grin. This would be fun. She gestured to Mickey, who helped to carefully manuever Thomas onto her back. With a grunt, she stood up. "Thomas, your head missing a few rocks," she cracked, walking to the trailer withouttrouble. Being an Aura user helped immensely. He wasnt nearly as heavy as others though. She followed Zoran inside, taking them to a bedroom. "Eant me to yuck you in with a story?" she joked, rolling him lightly onto the bed.

"Please say no," Zoran begged. "Her stories always endup depressing."
