The only thing I use it for is to listen to a pokemon's cry on the pokedex because there is no music in the background.

  • hey im a christain and i love pokemon!!!!

Oh wow really that's amazing ANYWAY.

"There is a building here that is symbolic
of the city's status as a place where different cultures meet"

    is what the map says.
I wouldn't say it's necessarily meant to be an exact replica of
any form of a church, but everything the NPCs say tie into Arceus
and trainers connected with pokemon and balance somehow.

"If the strong and able do too much, they limit
the contributions of others. The strong must show
restraint. This enables everyone to live together
    and share responsibility"

This could represent your pokemon team. If your strong,
favourite pokemon take care of all the battles, there will be
low-levelled outcasts in the process. This is why the strong
must show restraint, so the weak can grow.

There is one NPC who spikes my interest, however.

"And there do I see my father.
My son. My life. And there do I see nature.
    Pokemon. The world."

    It's as if he's praying.

if you read carefully, you can see the common relations to
all the dialogue. They all refer to things about creation, mystery, happiness,
love, balance, and sadness. These are all topics not easily explained,
and when explained, there are always holes and gaps that never seem
to be filled. You say this church is a waste. Tell that to the next 500
NPCs walking outside, talking about how they notice bumps in the ground
while walking their imaginary baby strollers, or people who talk about
saving your game, or others who say stuff like "I used a Fire Stone
on my pokemon and it evolved!". To me, I could name off a bunch
of NPCs who serve no purpose, along with pointlessly-placed houses
and building, or completely random trainers who battle you for
the oddest of reasons like "YOU LOOK LIKE CARROTS! LETS BATTLE!"

The church is actually a refreshing place, one that brings you back to
reality and earth. I don't know how shallow your minds are, if you're thinking
something is only worthwhile if you benefit out of it. That's quite selfish,
if I may add, and kind of destroys the purpose of Game Freak adding in
tonnes of NPCs to make things more realistic. This seemingly-pointless
church basically sums up the main idea and message Pokemon is trying
to tell you, and as you know, Pokemon is basically a reflection of life.
There are moments of creation, mystery, love, happiness, sadness,
and the need to balance. Instead of scouting out each tile and NPC
in the room, in search of a free Focus Band or Dratini, just slow down
and actually read the Dialogue. Give them a reason why they have
    dialogue in the first place.

  • They shouldnt put a church due to religious reasons.

orly? That was mentioned um. how many times? oh wait, it'd take up
a whole page if I posted the number.

Do you mind elaborating on some examples, or was that
    a lazy on-topic 1-up post count.

Anyway, there's a reason it's named a "Foreign Cultures" building
and not "Christian Church and Arceus is The God Fwahahahah!"

Agreeing with Zackraa on page 2. Also, the storyline behind how Acreus created Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina is pretty similar to Christian religion on how Archangels Michael, Gabriell, and Lucifer were formed. Like how Acreus made the 3 dragons, the Christian form of "God" created the 3 archangels. Same ending; Giratina (hence Lucifer) was banished to another plane of existence (earth) and was given an eternity to suffer for being too violent (Lucifer being too power hungry), thus leading to Giratina being a hostile being that is portayed as "evil" and Lucifer being "the devil" having created life among the earth to show up his creator, (yet failing in the process). Things in this game relate WAY too much too Christianity. I am a Christian, but when I hear about parents of the same religion ranting how Pokemon is ALSO portrayed as "evil" and of the devil, I laugh because like someone stated previously, it's a way to entertain young minds; not to convert them into an anti-Christian cult that is there for "evil" purposes. geez, Nintendo really did a number on this one. Good job.
