THE CLOUDS - Ho-Oh and Lugia in Sun and Moon?

So something I haven't seen mentioned (though I easily could have just missed it) is that in alchemy, the sun and the moon represent gold and silver respectively.

A possible thematic connection to Johto?

I've mentioned the connection in other old threads. It's also interesting to note the the crystals on the Japanese covers could represent gold (yellow) and silver (the blue-silver one), haha, 'Crystals'...
 
Honestly surprised others can't see it, when to me I would assume coincidence were it not so conveniently perfect. Best image I can find:
