Prologue: Pests and Pokemon
Indigo looked into Littleroot Town with an emotionless expression. This town was small, it could use something to make it larger. Something that can produce something. Trees were plentiful here, maybe something out of that. Or maybe, with a little clearing of trees, they can become a port town, with their company's name, of course. But the town itself was a fairly small little town, mostly suburban, but having a few places of business, such as stores that fit basic needs. "Hmph, these people probably haven't seen any sort of real business." Indigo said as he began to walk into town. It was at this point he saw two girls run by. He already knew that they stole something, but he didn't care.
"Maybe you should care a little more." A voice said to Indigo. He smiled and looked to the side.
"I'm sorry, Melissa, but I just can't accept that these peons exist." Indigo said, thinking back to the girls. "Those who can't contribute are better off dead." And with that, he walked towards the laboratory. Entering, he saw Birch, pacing around the room. He looked stressed, as if... "You were the victim, weren't you?"
Birch looked at Indigo in shock. "Who are you?" Birch asked, a tad suspicious. Indigo wasn't amused by the professor's questioning, and decided to state exactly who he was.
"Indigo Verez, future CEO of the Verez Corporation. I have come here for my pokemon, as my father wishes me to have this experience for some reason." Indigo stated in a robotic tone, as if it had been rehearsed. (It was, his father didn't approve, but his mother's will wanted him to be one) Birch was taken aback.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Indigo. I didn't recognize you." Birch said, calming himself down. Though he looked down at Indigo, he felt as if he were being looked down upon. "I'm afraid the Lotad you wanted was stolen by two girls that came by earlier. Sorry about that." Indigo was angry, but didn't show it.
"Oh, so your security was bad? How could anyone trust someone like you to do a job this important if two cretins who can't even get a job could steal from you? I think my father may have to do something about this." Indigo said. Though he meant installing a new security system, the way he made it sound, it was as if he was going to shut it down.
"Don't get lippy with me, Indigo. I'm the one with the pokedex here, and if you keep on badmouthing me, then I may not give it to you." Birch said, pulling out a pokeball and a pokedex. "This is the only pokemon we have that hasn't been taken. It's an import from Kanto."
"Excellent." Indigo said, a pleased expression on his face. He was thinking it was a Dratini, or an Eevee. "Perhaps I shall put in a good word for you with my father. Maybe he can fix your horrid security system." Birch groaned, but handed Indigo the pokeball anyway.
"If you were raised by David Verez, you should know how to use this stuff." Birch said, handing Indigo a Pokedex. The boy smiled as he opened it up and accessed his Trainer Card. He closed it, and was quite happy.
"Thank you, Professor. I may see you again soon." Indigo said as he bowed. Birch bowed in return, surprised that someone like him would do that. Indigo broke off first and walked out of the lab, leaving Birch behind.
"I wonder how long he'll keep that attitude on the road? Especially with his partner?" Birch asked himself. The police haven't arrived yet to help him out, and he was finally rid of that Pidgey that he caught last summer when it flew into him.
(Indigo)
Indigo smiled as he enlarged the pokeball. "Helio, front and center." Indigo said, having his nickname planned already, if it was indeed a Dratini. As the pokemon flew out, Indigo's smile slowly descended into a frown. He was pissed now, looking in front of him. It was a Pidgey, a pokemon that had made nests all across the world. "... Well, this was unexpected." Helio looked at Indigo, confused, but was returned by the trainer. "Well, I suppose this is going to be a true test. Very well, I suppose I'll accept the challenge."
And with that, Indigo left the town behind. However, as he was walking, Melissa began to speak. "Perhaps when speaking to normal people you should calm down. I don't want to see you get hurt, you know."
"I know, but these peons couldn't hurt a Magikarp, much less me." Indigo said, not realizing just what he was in for.
(A/N: This was fun to write. Very fun indeed. Short, but it is an intro post, after all.)
