Yeah, that is a major downfall, and also people have to do lots of things when they have animals, that could end up costing a lot of money.

I used to have a dog but I dont like these cute domestic animals...I WANT A GREY WOLF!!!

My mom had horses before I was born, but not anymore. I remember hearing that her last one got struck by lightning one night. ;_;

Right now at my home, there is a field next to my house that has a few horses in it. They belong to one of the neighbours though. ^^

Struck by lightning?! OUCH. :[

I was actually just discussing cats and dogs with my boyfriend the other night.

We both prefer dogs since dogs are so much more lovable. Cats only want attention when they want it. Dogs truly are man's best friend - they can sense when you're sad and are loyal to you and your family. They are decedents of pack animals, and so they are very close with their "pack"/your family. They're intelligent and much more obedient. And hey, you can't take cats out for walks lol. They just run around as they please.

I worked at a dog kennel (where people would take their animals so that we could watch them while they were gone) for about a year and got to work with both dogs and cats. I much more enjoyed the love that the dogs gave. Most cats really didn't care.

Cats are definitely easily if you're living on your own and in an apartment or aren't home very often, since they obviously can get along fine with themselves. That's our issue right now. Once we get our own house though soonish, we'll definitely be getting a little dog. ^_^

Working in a dog kennel... enjoyable? I don't want too see dogs anymore. Tired of cleaning their crap, cleaning their water when they poop in it, refill their food when they knock it all over the floor, and get bitten by those nasty things. I want a life.
Cat's are good as long as their female. Males spray all over the place. -_- Unless their neuter. I have a non-neutered male cat and all he does is knock my clothing on the floor and urinates on it. But, the females are good though.

I tend to prefer cats more. Though small puppies are so cute X3 But, cats are easy to take care of, and don't want attention ALL the time, and are fun. They can be lazy, and playful. I love it :3

Lol Hawkfish. Yep, there was A LOT of hard work involved with taking care of animals. Of all 6 jobs I've held so far at this point in my life though, that was by far the most enjoyable and rewarding. It was easily my favorite job, despite all those things you mentioned (oh, and I don't believe I ever got bit -- we had signs on the kennels of the dogs that were aggressive, so as to leave them alone).

I got a cat about 10 years ago from my uncle. When I moved away to an apartment for college, I tried bringing my cat with me, but she hated it. She coughed up furballs constantly, puked even more frequently (especially right next to our bed - it was nasty), and was constantly playing around really loudly at night (since cats are nocturnal), knocking things over and opening and closing our cupboard doors. It was too much. I had to give her back to my parents.

New topic!

For those of you in college (or the European equivalent, since I believe those of you in France and maybe England call High School your University?), what are you majoring in? Or if you aren't majoring in anything, what kinds of classes are you taking?

For anyone HS and under, what are you thinking of studying?

I'm at a community college this year, soon to be transferring next fall for either a Biology major or Communications, depending on where I go. :P I know they're vastly different, but those are my interests.

I would like to major in graphic design in college as I would like to be in a position for my profession relating to graphic design in one way or another. I am also going to be taking journalism as well. As, like everyone, I should be prepared with a back-up profession and I will be.

Quite unfortunately, I'm in highschool. Stupid, ugly highschool with even more stupid, immature children. Anyway, I'm unsure of what I want to major in. I'm leaning towards something in the field of literature, but I've discovered a new world in psycology. That, accompanied with general human anatomy and the study of a human's developmental process and brain activity, are what I'm pushing at right now.

Graphic design is a booming industry, however, you might find it tough to find well paying job in it unless you're really good. But having a back-up solves that problem. :P

I'm not looking for a well paid job. So long as it interests me and something I enjoy doing, that's all I really care about.

I like that attitude. It's nice that you care about happiness over money. =)

I started university as a Aerospace Major, but after a year and a half, I decided I would switch to either Math, Computer Science, Chemistry, or a combination of the three. XD

I'll probably be switching to ComSci within a year, and taking a minor in one of the other two.
